Thank you for reading my story...For starters my story might be the same as same others, but then again I might be unique. I started my process in 2008 by making that first appointment with the Surgeon. My sister went with me because I knew I wasn't going to remember anything that he said so I can later call her to see what I needed to start doing for my preparation. I followed up by going to the dietian, psychologist and my primary doctor (Matias). It was then time to submit my paper work into the insurance. It came back denied. I wanted to give up hope at that point. So I called the Surgeon's office and spoke with them to see exactly what I had to do to get it done right and get approved.Thats where the true story begins... I followed up again with the dietian and primary doctor (Matias). I went through a process for 3 more months to get everything together for submittion. When the day came to get it submitted I was on pins and needles. Exactly 7 days later the office manger from the Surgeon's office called me. I was speachless. I got approved! I had all weekend to decided what day between that date through May 2010 to schedule surgery. My appointment for pre-op was on December 29, 2009. I was then scheduled for surgery on January 18, 2010 at 7:30 am. I followed my pre-op diet to the tee. I was worried that when I came out of the recovery room and got transfered to the surgical floor to finish recovery my question was, "Did I get my band?" When my nurse said, "Yes, Mary you got it." I felt relieved knowing that now my life has only just began again. I am now into 5 months post-op, I feel better then ever. It has been a slow process and I am gratefull for that it since it has given me time to learn a whole new lifestyle of eating and exercising.
