  1. I was having terrible reflux and was eating chewable pepcid with every meal. I couldn't sleep at night was up coughing and vomiting up black tar stuff. lost 25lbs in a month. not good...couldn't keep food down most of the time. So having all kinds of trouble... finally started to get week and have pain. Went in and doctor did upper GI and found that my stomach had actually herniated through the band. (the bottom part of stomach started coming through the band) So not an actual slip. Doc thinks that the problem was caused because the band was not at perfect placement when originally put in. So new band on Tuesday. I can't wait. I feel like hell.

  2. You asked why I was getting a new band. My band has slipped and I have to have it replaced. I have surgery on Tuesday. Thanks for the comments about my pics... Progress had been good before the slip. :)

I can't sleep at night and will often have to sleep in the recliner. My stomach feels like it is burning all the time. Doc put me on prilosec, caraphate and now I am taking pepcid chewables when with pain and burning is unbearable. Any suggestions out there for me? I can't take it any more....

    HELP _ _ _ heartburn, indigestion, can't sleep

Surgery date; 5/30/07 Weight lost; 138 lbs. Dr. M. Brook Redd (THE BEST!) Gall Bladder Surgery; 8/30/08 Well I think I have gotten my heartburn and indigestion under control. I have gone three weeks without any major issues and have finally been able to sleep. Here is my regime. When I get up in the morning. I have a small cup of coffee and 8 oz. of juice. I have gotten the burning so under control, that I can even have a glass of orange juice. :cryin: Then I have a small lunch, which is usually some soup and a fourth of a turkey or chicken sandwich on rye bread. Before I was always eating wheat bread, and I haven't had any wheat bread in three weeks. Then for supper I just have a small amount of whatever I planned for my hubby for supper and I make sure I have eaten before 7:00p.m. and I only drink water the rest of the night. Absolutely no food the rest of the night! :smile2: I think that is the key. I also quit taking the prilosec, I just keep some pepcid chewables on hand and I will chew a half of one before and after each meal. I feel like a new person. I used to be so overwhelmed by irritation of the heartburn that I had a hard time enjoying anything. I feel soooooo GOOOOOOD! I hope this helps some of you out there. :crying:
  6. Thank you for your comments. I would say the secret to my success is following the rules that my doctor gave me. Three small meals and 30 mins exercise very day. My doc also told me that to think of the band as a TOOL not a solution. :)

  7. Thanks for the message...I was having trouble logging in. :)
