    Trouble foods

There are also foods I could eat all day and never fill up on. Salad and many vegetables don't hang around and I seem to be able to eat a lot of them.

What did you eat today, Hotties??

Weekday menu: AM Medifast Cappuccino B Medifast Oatmeal or Cottage cheese L Snickers Marathon Protein Bar S String cheese or yogurt D roast chicken 3-4oz broccoli and .25c mashed potatoes. If I need more protein at the end of the day I'll add a bullet to my crystal light. I have a problem with bread and rice. Even wild rice tends to get stuck. Anyone else with similar findings?

    I get my fill today!

Peanutband, I am doing great! I am so glad I got the fill when I did. I was eating like old times again, with no restrictions!!(well not like old times but more than new times:wink2:) I have been doing sooo much better now. and the scale started moving again! I eat only a little bit at a time and get full and the fullness lasts a long time. I had an appointment with my nutritionist the next day and she said I was doing great with my calories and Protein. She even said I needed more fat:huh2: in my diet!! Well, ok then! I have had n awsom week and feel so good about the band. Thanks for asking and let us know how you are doing with your fill. How much did yours get filled?

    I get my fill today!

Well, it seems I'm just talking to myself here!? I wanted to give you all an account of my fill. I had lots of questions for the doc today. He said that my feeling that I had no restriction now was normal, and the fill takes care of that. He told me I have a 12cc band and he put in 4cc today. I noticed a difference right away. He had me drink a glass of Water to see if it went down ok and it stuck at first...stayed there a little while and finally made the trip down:thumbup: It feels just like it did at first..without the surgery pain! The actual fill was painful. Doc stuck the needle right through my scar tissue and missed. He got it on the second try and it hurt both times. after he filled me, he pulled it out rather quickly and that hurt too. But I'm tough! He said I'll need another one in 4-6 weeks. I made an appt for 6 weeks out on March 30th. Well that's all I got I hope to hear from others. Lena, your fill is tomorrow? Peanutband too right?

What did you eat today, Hotties??

I was banded on the 6th and am on the whatever I want stage. I have been keeping around 1200 calories a day. Most typical days this is my menu: Morning: coffee w/ 1 scoop of Protein powder (instead of hazlenut creamer) B: @9 3/4 c. cottage cheese L: @12 1 pkg instant oatmeal S: @3 Yoplait light yogurt (banana cream) D: @6 chicken or fish w/ vegetables S: @9 I try not to eat anything but I usually fail and have more dinner. I really don't feel much restriction anymore. I guess at first my tummy was somewhat swollen so I felt full longer. Now I use all my will power to try to stick to my diet. I will be getting my first fill on Monday the 16th. I will let you all know if that makes a difference. My protein stays between 60-80gms.

Click on the analysis button for your daily grade. Then at the bottom of it you can get a readout for a week or month. I went to the free Denny's breakfast today, and ate less than half of it! All Denny's menu is on that calorie site! I will get a bad grade today!

Anyone else dying on your post op diet?

I am almost done with mushies. I have been adding new foods over the past few days and have been doing very well. I haven't had any bad experiences. For the mushy faze I've been eating cottage cheese, lentil Soup, yogurt and oatmeal. I love all these things and so I haven't ever had a craving for other things. Last week I went out to dinner and ordered soup and broccoli. The broccoli was overcooked and I chewed it to death. Each time I eat I keep all parts of it together below 1 cup of food. I eat slow and am always satisfied for the next 3-4 hours. Tonight I went to a mexican restaurant and had pollo chipotle. It was great and I have a whole bunch left in my fridge! I cut the chicken into teeny pieces and had it with my Beans and a little rice joined in too. 1 cup altogether so I won't expand my pouch! I'm making chili for Super Bowl. I LOVE chili, but at 1 cup at a time means I can have it 3 times tomorrow!!! Happy Superbowl to all! (Go Cards)

    early january banders

Hi everybody! I had surgery on the 6th and am in my 4th week of restricted diet. I usually have cottage cheese for Breakfast and yogurt for lunch and soup for dinner. I can eat almost 1 cup worth of food at a time, very slowly, and then I feel satisfied. I thought that I would only be eating about 1/2 cup at a given time. My first fill will be on the 16th. I am very excited about it. Maybe then I will eat less. I also have been not going over 1200 calories a day. And making sure I get between 50 and 60 grams of Protein. There is a great website called caloriecount.about.com that I use to keep track of everything. Then I can get a month worth of analysis. I looks like this: Date Calories Grams Fat Carbs Protein Grade 2009-01-22 1,178 1,550 24 182 56 B+ 2009-01-23 1,252 1,425 32 182 53 B- 2009-01-24 1,028 1,211 19 121 90 A- 2009-01-25 901 1,051 13 93 89 A- 2009-01-26 1,260 834 66 173 96 B- 2009-01-27 980 678 41 122 79 B 2009-01-28 939 383 25 94 71 C+ 2009-01-29 640 284 22 39 61 C+ The grade is for the choices of food during the day like too many carb or fat. Well, it's great to hear form you all. Take care.

Is it me or is this too painful?

Minnah, My surgery experience was a lot like yours. I was in recovery a long time. Then when they woke me and said I needed to go get an xray, I was in real pain. They didn't make me walk but they wheeled me to the xray room. By the time I got there I was REAL nauseous and was going to upchuck if they made me drink that stuff. So they decided to wait and wheeled me back to my bed. They gave me some anti nausea and waited an hour or so. Then we wheeled back, and I was able to do their dumb xray test, man that liquid stuff was awful. Then back to my bed for a little broth. It still took me another hour to feel ok enough to go home. The gas pain was the worst. I could feel it up in my neck it was VERY painful for the first 3 days. I also took the gas-x and it helped. It's not gas you can burp out it is inside your body but has no outlet. It needs to disipate through your pores, which takes time. I didn't poo till 3 days out. I worried about it but now 3 weeks out- I realize that nothing was wrong. A little in means a little out. Give yourself time to recover. You'll see that it was worth it.
  12. I was banded on the 6th. It took about a week for me to start feeling real hunger. Then a half cup of blended up Soup and I was good! I have to say that it's real important to take your protien shakes and Vitamins. I am two weeks post-op and I have never felt better. I attribute it to all the good going in over the past two weeks. I have been getting 100% of all I need. I probably never did when I was eating so much b4 this started. I have been telling my friends that I feel like the bionic woman! I have extra parts now that help me. Keeping me full after a little bit of food?!?! That's extraordinary! Especially for some one like me who could eat a whole box of cheeze itz in one night and still have room for ice cream! I am just thrilled with my new super powers! When I get hungry now. I puree up some soup or have cottage cheese. 1/2 cup, eaten very slowly, savoring each little curd, fills me up. Man this is great. I guess my point is, be thrilled that you are not hungry - this is the new you! Own it and use it to your good benefit. But remember to get enough fluids. (I got dehydrated the third day after surgery) And your shakes will make you super healthy!

January bandsters our time is coming!!!

You are right Lena, follow my doctor's orders. I will, I was just grumbling... Thanks for your help.I'm glad you are feeling well and loosing so much weight. I don't have a scale in my house so I will weigh myself on Monday at my 2 week post op appt. I'll ask my Dr. my questions instead of everyone else! I am praying for all you others who get their bands on the 20- the 29th. Let us know how you are doing and keep us updated on your progress.

January bandsters our time is coming!!!

Lena, 32 lbs is wonderful! I am so happy to hear that. I don't understand why you get to eat regular foods and I'm on this liquid diet for 4 weeks after surgery:mad2: They say I can't eat regular foods cause it will "work" my new stomach pouch and the band could slip. I sure wish I could though. It's been a week and a half since surgery and I'm feeling good. That includes and appetite, and the liquids just go right on through... I guess your doc. has different restrictions. Thanks for the recipe, I will use it in 3 weeks! Well just wanted to say GREAT JOB!
  16. I also took 3 days b4 I had a bm. I was worried that it was getting all clogged up, but all was well. Now I have bouts of constipation but it's not too bad. Also the volume of food is soooo much less. The gas was very annoying the first 4-5 days but now it's gone! Is anyone having cotton mouth or bad breath in the mornings? Every morning my mouth is coated with white gunk. Any ideas? (Sorry this post is so gross.)

January bandsters our time is coming!!!

Good luck all you who are going in tomorrow! I am 1 week post op and feeling great. I get full on 1/2 can of Soup (liquefied) !! That has never happened to me before. When 1/2 can of soup was a joke,, and I needed at least 2 cans to feel like I had eaten. I must say I am living as a different person this week. Enjoying the various taste of juices, savoring each baby spoonful of mashed vegetables. I am having an awsom time. I just took a 30 minute walk around my neighborhood. I feel great and I've lost 7 lbs! I should have done this years ago.... oh well, this is my year! And ours! God be with you ladies, I will be praying for your speedy recovery.

I was banded on the 6th

That's for sure Chrissy, Good for you. The only way I can stomach those shakes is one scoop in 1/2 cup cherry crystal light. I try to drink it as fast as possible because I hate them! Get some rest tonight, sounds like you'll need it tomorrow!

I was banded on the 6th

Crissy, I don't want you to break your clear liquid diet but you could try what I have been doing. Put a can of soup in the blender, With noodles and all and liquefy it. Drink it slowly...for me after 1/2 a can I am full! Good luck honey.

I was banded on the 6th

Mines a little different Sandy, I have 2 weeks of liquid- shakes, soups and veggies but they need to be liquid. Then 2 weeks pureed. Again shakes or veggies, Soup and mashed potatoes -need to be pureed Then at 4 weeks post op introduce all foods, but start slowly with soft ones. It hasn't been hard so far, but the shakes are getting boring! Lena- you get to eat real food? It's not fair!

    Post-Op Reporting in!

[From Lena: Doc warned me I might experience some pain around the port area when I visited him Thursday, one week after surgery. He was dead on. I'd been feeling some new pain, and over the next two days I was back on the Liquid Tylenol. It did go away, and by Sunday morning was forgotten. ] Lena, I'm glad you're back. Thanks for sharing about the port area pain. I was in such pain last night on the inside - a new pain. I was worried! I took the pain med that I had stopped 2 days ago and went to sleep. This morning it's not better but not worse. Then I read your note! Now I know what the problem is and I can calm down a little. Thank you so much for sharing your time with us!

I was banded on the 6th

I just tried activa yogurt today and it is making a difference with those growls. It was too thick for me to eat out of the carton so I added some skim milk. It was the perfect consistency, tasted good and did what I wanted. Later I added 1/2 of one to my shake. I was looking for juice called GOOD BELLY ( I heard on another thread about this.) I couldn't find it here in my little country store. I'll look again in Walmart. But I think the activa has the same properties as it has settled my growling stomache. I went on my first outing today, to church. I thought I was going to die after putting on my panty hose! Please don't anyone try that- it hurts! I got tired at church from standing too long. I sat down and was fine the rest of the service. It feels good to get out of the house even for an hour. Tomorrow I wall try to walk around the block. Thanks for recovering with me ladies! I appreciate all your insights and support.

I was banded on the 6th

Well today I feel better. It was the first day I woke up naturally instead of to pain. I really like my liquid hydrocodone, it helped a lot when I needed it. I won't take it today though. I am on a liquid diet -not clear-but runny. Every meal has to be liquified to pass through a straw. Besides the protien shakes I have been "eating" Soup and well cooked vegetables. I have not ever been hungry, but I've had a "meal" every 4 hours or so. My body is making those monster growls for some reason. I don't feel hungry or anything when it does. I don't know why that is happening. Well, I would love to hear more from others who are recovering. I'm glad for the successful surgeries.

I was banded on the 6th

Chrissy, I'm so glad to hear how you are doing. I was at the hosp. 9 hours but it's because I have a nausea problem. I was way too sick to go home when I should have. I am not nauseous at all today, but am in pain when I move or cough. I have 5 small incisions and one of them hurts the most. It must have been the master portal! Anyway, I'm trying my chocolate shake for the first time. I put some baby food applesauce in there and some rum flavoring! I can't decide if it's great or gross! I wish Godspeed on you who are going in soon and well wishes to you who are recovering.
