TMI warning! :) This one might be just for the ladies in the house....
hltwhite posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If anyone who has been through the procedure , or maybe if there is a nuse or two around? (I know I have seen a few nurses posting in other groups....) how far down are your incisions? The reason I ask is I am having surgery tomorrow and yesterday marked my TOM! I am wondering, logisitcally, how that will work during my surgery!! Any help would be most appreciated!!!! -
I have to be there by 9am on Thursday for a 10:30 surgery. My doctor says I could go home that afternoon if I am doing well!! I also have to tell you about a revelation i had this afternoon..... I don't HAVE to be on a pre-op diet either, so the smae thoughts creep in.. well, I don't really have to do this right now. And this afternoon I was hungry. We were driving by a Wendy's and I was hungry. That's when I said to myself -- SO WHAT?!? So, your hungry, what's the big deal? You had a head ache but you still ran your errands; you stubbed your toe and it hurt, but you put your shoes on and went to church; you had a back ache, but you went to work and sat at your desk even though it is uncomfortable. Why the heck does the world have to stop because you are hungry?? I was uncomfortable and my stomach hurt a little. So what? I got home less than 10 minutes later and had a Protein shake. The world didn't come to a screeching halt becuase I was hungry, and I didn't pull in to Wendy's. I know that may sound silly, but it was a huge deal for me. The second I feel like I might need to eat something, I eat four of somethings. Not any more. Gosh for bid I feel a little hungry. Deal with it. SO.. that was just my little two cents for the day. I know it helped me a ton and I feel like it is a pretty huge break through for me. Maybe it will help someone else!

Hi! January 15th here! I don't have a pre-op diet, but I decided to do soemthing on my own -- figured it couldn't hurt! Last night I cheated - bougth that dreaded pint of ben and jery's on the way home. I ate about half of it and thought, this doesn't even taste that good -this not worth it! and threw the rest away!! Two more days!! WooHoo! I have decied one of my golas is to start taking yoga (once I am small enough toactually get my body in to those positions!!) My family (and i mean my WHOLE family) rents a big beach house for a week each summer and I have this dream of waking up early and doing yoga on the beach.. so that is my "happy place" whenI get nervous or when I am tryign to relax in the hospital.. yoga on the beach, yoga on the beach, yoga on the beach....

Hi!! I am on the 15th! I am getting really excited and a little nervous too! My doctor didn't mke me do a pre-op diet either, but I decided to do a low carb/luigid diet combo thing  on my own and I have lost seven pounds so far! Might as well get a head start since everyone else on our little team here is working through the preop diet anyways! Can't wait to hear how you are doing and how things go! Good luck!

May I ask why it was postponed? (obviously only if it was a medical reason or something with your surgeon, not if it was perosnal) I have this feeling, don;t know why, that mine is going to be postponed when I get in there for my pre-op on Monday. I don't have to do a clear liquid diet first and I just have this feeling he's going to look at me and say what are you doing?!? No Band for you!

Sorry to hear about your delay -- one way to look at it is 3 motnhs to lose even more weight before the procedure!! Teresah - welcome to the January 15th club! Not sure if anyone has started a thread for us, but I will go check now!! -
JeanAngell and Sar -- it is great to see some folks from Massachusetts here! My date is January 15th at Baystate in Springfield!! I will be sure to check in with any "advice" between the 15th and the end of the month for you! :tt2:

Hi everyone! My surgery date is January 15th - SO excited!! Hopefully my husband will get his date soon too! I am having it done at Baystate Medical Center with Dr.Haag -- who does not require any type of preop diet - strange!! I think I might do something on my own starting two weeks out though.
