Wow, these are some great numbers. congratulations. I was banded January of this year and am down around 50 pounds depending on what I call my start weight. My restriction as been very difficult to get but I am now on about my 4th or 5th try and have some restriction. My big issue as been drinking alcohol. Not only is that empty calories that add up extremely quick it also leads to reckless abandonment when making food choices. I am committed now and hope to make great progress. I am at 329 and trying. Good luck guys!

Wow, that diet is quite a task. My surgeon tells me to have liquid diet for 2 days after then soft foods for a day or so then back to what the nutritionist recommends. If you can follow this diet and exercise I would think the weight will melt off. I went to doctor a week ago and had a little removed as the previous fill stopped me from drinking. I still have too much as it is very difficult to get food down before the evening but I am going to try and stick with being tight for a while longer and see if it gets better. I really need a good jump start. Good luck with your fill

Well I now know what restriction is but unfortunately way too much. I have been disappointed with my progress and am really wishing for this tool to help. I am back in the gym and doing great there, but eating way too much and then also drinking on weekends. I realize that is an issue I need to deal with as restriction would not prevent the wasted calories of alcohol but I really want some help on the food side. Anyway, my wife and I returned from a great Caribbean cruise on May 2 and I was able to get an appointment for this past Friday to get a fill. I told the doctor I really wanted to get aggressive and we added. He is a good doctor and is conservative. I was not totally confident the water was going down well during the fill but told him we were good. I have had the weekend from hell. Went out deep sea fishing with son on a head boat Saturday, I barely got down 20oz of water. All day yesterday I take 1 ounce in and 3 come out. I go today at 3PM for adjustment. Bottom line is that this is defiantly a learning experience for me. I now have an unbelievable appreciation in the ability to hydrate yourself. I also have a new respect for this implanted devise and look forward to a new partnership.

I had surgery on 1/8/09 and had no fill at that time. On 2/20 -6 weeks post-op I got first fill of 3cc’s after starting back on food I had no restriction and could eat whatever I wanted how ever I wanted. Doctor makes you wait for 2 weeks before adjustment. I went in on 3/6 and got another ½ cc, at this point no restriction at all. I just scheduled 3/20 for another fill. How much do you have and in what quantity was it administered? When did you get restriction and how do you know when you have it? One more question, is morning hot coffee a bad thing for restriction? Thanks.

I am a weekly business traveler and had surgery Thursday 1/8/09. I worked from home the following week then regained normal travel. If I drove I took my shakes with me, when I flew I stopped at Wal-Mart or cvs and bought shakes. No problem. Good luck.

I had my operation 1/8/9 and did not have any fill at operation. During the pre and post-op diet I lost around 30 pounds (I was starting around 380). After a few weeks and was back on regular food and I begin to regain a full apatite. I have had no restriction at all. I received my first fill on 2/20/9, 6 weeks post-op. I was on liquids for a few days but did not feel any restriction. When I went back on food, again no restriction. I received 3 cc at first fill. I called doctor and they said I had to wait two weeks before next fill so I hope to go in this Friday for more. I am working out hard and doing fairly well, but weekends come and eat and drink way too much. I have lost over 100 pounds on my own before but have regained, so now I am really hopping this band is going to be a productive partner in this effort. At the end of the day it is calories in minus burn, but would be nice to have some help. Good luck!

I just returned from doctor and received my first fill. I now have 3 cc’s and hope to get some restriction. I have gained several pounds in the last couple of weeks since being back on food and having no restriction. Past weekend visit to son’s university with family and his friends did not help weight, but back on the plan now. We’ll see how it goes. Thanks.

I am 4 weeks post-op. I have lost about 30 lbs due to per and post-op diet but I have no restriction. I am now on regular food and can (I am not) eat whatever just like before. Is that normal? I have appointment in 2 more weeks when I assume I will get my first fill. I am exercising and have lost lots of weight on my own in the past but I am looking forward to this tool actually helping me. Thanks.

I was banded last Thursday 1/8/08. I am on the full liquid diet and am feeling fine. My question is do I have any restriction at all yet? I have always been a big water drinker and I am drinking lots with no issue just like before. I am eating smooth soup and drinking shakes with no issue just like without band. Just wondering if that is the way it is supposed to be.

I am currently on the pre-op diet and my understating is that the purpose of the liquid diet is to shrink your liver. My Dr said it is ok to have one meal of a protein and vegetable per day if you can’t make it on the shakes. I am doing my best and am scheduled for surgery 1/8/9. It is very difficult especially now that I am back in the gym. I am loosing about 1 to 2 pounds a day, but I am a big man so with this diet and exercise I expect that. I am very much looking forward to this being over J Good luck!

Hi, I just found this site and find it very informative and helpful. I am scheduled for my LB surgery in less then two weeks. I am an ERP consultant and travel frequently. I do not have a physical job and plan to work from home for a week and after about 12 days resume travel if I feel ok and doctor approves. Other then my boss I have not discussed my surgery with any collogues and really was not planning to. How do you handle group lunches and such? I am ok with the Protein shakes at the hotel, but often go with co-workers to lunch. I was thinking Soup as my main meal but I guess for the first few weeks that is limited to broth. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
