Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
naynayto2 replied to TXAmy07's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My doctor used skin glue and steri strips. -
Well today I'm one week out from surgery and had to go to my doc, he is about an hour away so my 2 friends that has pretty much went with me the entire 6 mo before, went with me today. Our usual routine before was I go to doc then we go eat and then we go shopping. Well today it had to be different and we couldn't go eat but the true friend that I am I dropped them off to eat while I went to the doc and the I went back and got them and we went shopping. We laughed about this today and I keep telling them I'm gonna find out who my true friends are when my life don't revolve around going to eat. BTW my doc appointment went well and I'm scheduled for my first fill in 5 weeks.

alabama bandster meet?
naynayto2 replied to JASON R's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks Jason! I would love to come and meet some other people going through the same thing as I am. I think my grandson would love the water park too so I'm sure my daughter would come with me. -
Hang in there Mac I was banded on May 4th and I too am having problems with protein shakes. I really like carnation instant Breakfast (no added sugar) 13grams when you add milk and I like AS advant edge strawberry 17grs you can get both at wal-mart. I'm still on full liquids until Monday then go to pureed. I'm really not hungry which is a good thing I guess, but I excited to eat refried Beans on monday.LOL Good Luck!

loosing weight too early
naynayto2 replied to Mirandajanaye's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't go trying to gain it back I'm sure you will get approved but if still alittle nervous just put a couple of rolls of quarters in your pockets/bra before you have to weigh! Good Luck! -
Hey Gerri~ I was also banded May 4th and doing really good, my biggest problem is getting in enough Protein because I don't like the shakes. I won't get to start the pureed stage for another 10 days. Godd Luck!

alabama bandster meet?
naynayto2 replied to JASON R's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey all~ I'm justing wondering where Blountsville is and how far it is from Muscle Shoals/ Florence area? I was banded May 4th and would love to come meet other Alabama bandsters. -
Congrats to all May 6th Banditos~ I'm a 3 days out and feel really good. Having problems with meeting my Protein quota. I'm not sure where my port incision is but I am assuming it is my biggest incision if so it is about 1 inch from waistline on left side but I can't feel it at all. Good luck to all.

My insurance requires the last 3 years your BMI has to have been 35 or higher. I guess if your self pay you could fill your pockets with rolled coins or something. The things we will do to be skinny!!!LOL
-
The doctor will have to actually measure and weigh you and provide documentation to insurance company. He should write down exact measurement if not just tell him that 1/2 inch really matters and he will comply.
-
Hey Banditos~ I had my surgery yesterday and also a hernia repair, I'm having a little discomfort today but that is to be expected. I'm having to drink something every hour which is hard to do and suppose to get in around 60 grams of protein but I have a hard time with protein drinks, I'm going to have some strained soup with added protein later. I haven't been hungry and so far head hunger hasn't set in.
-
Yea I order the trials and was excited about the unflavored I think I make some Jello with it and maybe add it to something I like to drink. I know your excited right now about your big day tomorrow. Good Luck
-
I have some but haven't tried it yet I ordered the trial packs. I've drank some atkins advantage and had some cheddar/broccoli soup(strained) and I've been sipping non protein fluids. I really don't want anything but I try to get alittle down. Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to hold more. Wow I never thought I'd say that!LOL
-
Thanks for the congrats! Your right protein is the key and it also helps to keep your hair from falling out.

Doug~Glad to hear everything went well for you. I'm having my surgery tomorrow and I'm alittle unsettled but I know it will be fine. Keep us posted!

naynayto2 replied to WDW Luver's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had documentation from my PCP but I heard you can use weight watchers documentations or other weight loss programs that kept up with your weight but I also heard some ppl showing pictures from previous years. Good Luck! -
Popping Sensation w/ Bending over
naynayto2 replied to hope4j's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not banded yet but should you be bending over this soon? My doctor said no bending or lifting over 15# for 4 weeks. Just wondering! -
My doctor didn't require me to do a pre-op diet he just said liquids the day before. I'm 10 days away and nervous as a cat in a room full of rockin chairs but I'm excited at the same time. My demons keep telling me this isn't gonna work and that something will happen and I'll have to have it removed. I've asked on post op forums and I think this is normal the closer you get to your date but it can sure mess with your head. Good luck everyone I know we can do this!!!:w00t:

My insurance has the same requirements but they also required me to show documentation for the last 3 years from a doctor that my BMI was 35 or over with one comorbid disease or a BMI of 40 or over with or without a comorbid disease. My friend is in the same boat as you except she has diabetes and several other things but she does not meet the last 3 years criteria. We both have BCBS of Al. -
Thanks Janet~ BTW nay nay is what my grandson calls me, I was suppose to be Nonna but he chose nay nay at around 18 mos. I've learned to love it. I always joked with my kids and told them I didn't care what my grandkids call me except they can't call me "big mama" LOL!!!!!

I am having lapband surgery May 4th and I am having some negative thoughts and was wondering if this is normal. I am trying to talk myself out of it but I want it so badly and have been in the process since July 08. I keep saying to myself that its not permanent and I know I'll have to have it removed and I keep thinking that I can't change my eating habits. I don't want to think these thoughts. Is this normal when you getting close to surgery day? Thanks for starting this thread because we need some experienced ppl to help us through this.
