  1. My port is on my left side under my ribcage. I noticed the area where my port was placed was "puckered inward" after surgery and it freaked me out, too! I assume that is where they stitched the port to my abdominal muscle. I had to laugh because it looked like a small tummy-tuck in that area and wished the doc had done it all over for me....lol. My port was killing me the day after surgery and had to take children's liquid Ibuprofen for pain and swelling. (worked great) I also used a heating pad on and off for the soreness, which helped some. I do not have any nagging problems with my port area now, but it will "get my attention" if I turn the wrong way or slouch too much. I am glad I can finally sleep stretched out on my back and walk upright again without feeling like I a going to pull stitches.:wink2:

    How's everyones incisions?

I had DermaBond, then Steri-strips and large guaze bandages on top. I was banded on December 17 and even with soap and water in the shower every day, my bandages are just starting to peel up on the edges. Everything looks fine and there is no redness or soreness anywhere, so I am not worried. I just hope the doctor does not do the "Band-Aid Rip" to get the guaze off next week at my follow up appointment. I may work on the large bandages myself before then and just let the strips fall off in their own time. I am glad there are no stitches or staples to remove. I would definitely be dreading their removal.....:wink2:
  3. Hi all! I have been a yo-yo dieter all my life and got banded the day after my 38th birthday! Happy Birthday to me! (literally) My surgery was "textbook" according to my doctor and I suffered with severe port area pain for about 2-3 days post-op. I did well on my 7 day liquid diet with no hunger and then day 8 post-op the hunger set in again. (Christmas Day-of course) Had to puree a small soft piece of ham to make myself feel better and had no problem with it. Hope I did not mess anything up. The biggest problem I had post-op (besides pain) was very loose stools starting 3 days after surgery and then contracting a bladder infection, which made me feel ucky again. :Banane20: I have been up and around, doing housework, grocery shopping and walking, but energy is still very low. Is this normal? Glad to be a part of the site! Let me know your thoughts!
