    Skinny Actresses

Speaking of bobbleheads, I saw an interview once where Merv Griffin said he hired Vanna White for the Wheel of Fortune because her head was too big for her body. Apparently, big heads and little bodies make for great TV ((shrug)). Now that I've said this, you'll notice this a lot in celebrities. Big heads, big teeth, big cars, big houses. I guess big is in! LOL!

What Foods did you have to give up?

I was banded 6 weeks ago and have had no problems until just recently. I had my first PB on a triscuit with melted cheese at work last week. I'm guessing that the cheese acted like glue and held the triscuit together even after I chewed it up. Nobody at work knows that I have a band, so I suffered in silence. I kept hiccuping and breathing hard then after about 45 minutes and lots of slime the triscuit came back up. YUK! The next day I ate 4 french fries and the same thing happened. I'm not complaining though - I'm not supposed to be eating those fries anyway!
  3. Can somebody post the Lap Band Rules or a link? I keep hearing people mention the rules, but I can't find them! Thanks! Anne Dr. Arturo Rodriguez Monterrey, Mexico 05/15/06

    post op water...Bad???

What I did was heat up my Water in the microwave and that seemed to help. Strangely, I don't like water now like I did before the surgery. I really like Propel (it has calcium) and vanilla soy milk. I didn't like soy before the surgery, but I LOVE it now. It seems to soothe my tummy. Hang in there, every day will get better. I'm two weeks post op and I feel GREAT! Anne Dr. A. Rodriguez Monterrey, Mexico 5/15/06

    In tears and scared

Before I had my surgery, I was very emotional and worried whether or not I was making the right decision. I too, was worried about dying, which I imagine is pretty normal to worry about before having any surgery! What helped me to feel a little better was to realize that there are many things in our normal everyday life that we could get seriously injured or die from. Like driving to the grocery store for instance! Life is full of risks, and you just have to be careful in what you do. I was scared of flying, then I realized that you have a larger chance of crashing in your car than the airplane! I decided to have my surgery in Mexico because I was sick and tired of sitting on the sidelines, as you mentioned, and I didn't want to wait any longer. After doing some reasearch, I chose Dr. Arturro Rodriguez in Monterrey Mexico. Once I got there I was treated like royalty. I stayed in a 5 star hotel: Quinta Real, which was included in the fee, and they took care of the transportation to and from the airport and to and from the hospital. I can call my doctor, directly, any time day or night and any one of his staff too. I have the Swedish lapband, and YES, I've found doctors here in the the States that will do the aftercare on the Swedish band as wells as the Inamed. Although the Swedish band isn't FDA approved here - yet - doctors ARE permitted to treat anyone with the Swedish lapband it just depends on whether that particular doctor chooses to or not. Maybe you could post where you live and we could give you some doctors to contact so you can get more information regarding the aftercare in your area. Keep your chin up. This is a very big decision you're making! ((HUGS)) Anne banded 5/15/06 Dr. Arturro Rodriguez Monterrey, Mexico
  7. Hi! I was banded a week ago today, and just like you, I've been struggling with the port pain. If I could just get rid of that pain, I would be great. I've been having trouble sleeping at night. I can't sleep on the port side or my back without awful pain and discomfort. The only thing that works for me right now is Advil! Hang in there and have a wonderful vacation!

    Difference between Midband and SAGB

I'm scheduled to have my procedure done on May 15th (Monterrey Mexico) and I have to call my coordinator tomorrow with my decision: Do I want the Inamed band or the Swedish band? I'm told that my doctor prefers the Swedish, but I'm also told that because it's not FDA approved here in the states that it's harder to find a doctor that will do fills ~ if any! So...I could fly back to Monterrey for the fills, the airfare is cheap, BUT that could add up pretty quickly depending on how many fills I would need. I've also heard that some people don't need any fills at all... So, IrishRose, I guess you and I are in the same boat! Tell me about the aftercare - were you able to find a doctor that would treat you if you get the Swedish band???

    my plane ride home...

Hey all! I'm new to this forum so let me begin by saying, HELLO! I'm having my surgery on May 15th in Monterrey Mexico and I'm looking forward to it! I'll be coming home on the 17th with an 8 hour plane ride home and I'm wondering what should I expect on the flight home? Will I be getting sick a lot? Should I request a seat next to the restrooms? LOL! Please, any advice on how to cope with the long trip home would be really appreciated. Thanks so much! Anne
