too tight or just right? ...need input!
perth bridetobe replied to LessJess's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Jess If you werent being able to keep fluids down I would definately say go straight to a doctor and unfill. I would think that you should wait a few more days. In the mean time ensure you are constantly sipping Water to stay hydrated. Yogurt is ok, but also consider Meal Replacement shakes to keep up some energy,or puree some Soup and make it as thin as you need to. Congratulations on your weight loss so far, its fantastic! -

Thanks everyone for your support! After my fill on Monday I actually am having a lot more restriction so I am hoping that this is my sweet spot = more weight loss! My goal is about 60 kgs all up , so I guess I am a third way there. Here is hoping!! -

5 month check in..should I be disappointed?

Wow txspatter 37 lbs is almost what I have lost, and you have been banded less than a month!!! Not sure when you were banded Cate but you have done fantastic as well. I KNEW that this weight loss was no where near enough!! The problem being is that everyone around me keeps telling me its awsesome, and while I think its great I will never have that weight on my again, its still too low. My doctor is the only one in this town who can fill lap bands and he thinks I am doing fine - the problem being is that the surgeon lives in Perth - maybe its time to go and see him. Its so frustrating!!! I completely agree with the pants size Cate, these bigger sizes have a LOT of room to grow really dont they! Maybe the next 18 will come off quicker. I guess I have the added pressure of having to order my wedding dress in June, so whatever I am by that stage is what size the dress will be....you can get them taken in but not out Thanks for your advice -

Hi Tas31 Still the same, second fill on Fri YAY I cant wait. Glengarry is where I went! The nurses are SO SO nice. Make sure they pull the tubes out of your nose/mouth as soon as you get out (ask whoever is going with you to ask them) and what else. OH! You cant drink until the next day after you get the liquid that tastes like charcol... its pretty gross. I dont know why Dolan doesnt let you drink, everyone else does. My answer? Get a cup of Water and rinse your mouth out (without swallowing it).... Best advice ever because you feel pretty rank. Otherwise the whole thing was fine, and Dolan whilst being a bit abrupt (like most doctors) is really fantastic. good luck!!! -
Notorious November Weight Loss Totals
perth bridetobe replied to Froggi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone Banded on November 14th ! Getting my second fill next Friday and I cant wait. Lost 7.5kg, which is equivelent to 16lb. Not fantastic but its better than nothing!!! -
Hi Muzzer I think its because everyones bands are so different, there is no average really... I know 4 people with them, all ranging with fills from 3 - 5 mls, but I have a bigger (newer maybe?) band so maybe thats why I have 6. I stayed on liquids for about 3 days and then when I did eat I was fine. Only trouble I had was when I ate bread when I wasnt thinking about it... it didnt 'come up' tho which is good. I have decided I am going to try to stop that happening for as long as possible! Cheers

hi muzzer how did you go today? I have a 12ml band and my first fill was 6 mls...but I can still eat what i want (GRRR) so looking forward to the next fill.

Hello All! newly banded!
perth bridetobe replied to LoveDK's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi everyone.... Well I got banded on November 14th 2008, weighing a grand total of 122kg. How I ever got to weigh that much I do not know. A month and a bit later, I am down to 115.4kg and am looking forward to a cooler summer (in a town close to Perth, Western Australia) Its going to be a hard year....I am getting married Nov 28th 09 so I have a pretty big goal. Its not why I got the band (I had booked in before I had even met the love of my life) but still... I never thought I'ld look that good in a wedding dress. I got my first fill , 6mls in a 12ml band. I can still eat anything I want, except I have to do it really slowly (and bread is no good.) I cant wait to get my next fill - Jan 9th. just keep swimming, just keep swimming...
