  1. DM Chef..................20 lbs..............
  2. Hi All, It's been one week since my surgery. Things are progressing very well. My scale says that I am down 15 pounds thus far. Woo-hoo! I've been walking daily and drinking Protein Water, shakes and decaf iced tea. I eat yogurt 2 times a day for protein. I can't wait for the puree stage! I have minimal port site pain, occasionally when I get up and down. I have a post-op doctor's appointment next week. I can't wait to get back to work! How is everyone else feeling??

    Port location and Pain

Hi, My port seems to be right under my belly button. In fact, I think my belly button went missing during surgery! Lol.... I'm not really having much port pain but I do find that I have used these tips to help me along: I carry a small pillow (like you do for a c-section) when I get up, sit down, bend over...hold the pillow on your tummy I sleep with about 4-5 pillows propping me up I lay on a heating pad all night Hope this helps!

What Protein Supplement do you Prefer?

I personally like the Muscle Milk Light. Make sure you get the light (as regular muscle milk has way too much for us....). I find that it's cheapest to buy on Amazon. I like the chocolate milk and the strawberry. Also, I like the "nectar" brand. They make funky flavors like peach and Cappuccino. Try the Isopure Protein Water. 40 G of Protein in one bottle. The Mango is NASTY but the Grape is pretty good! It's a little pricey but it helps when you are on liquids. Hope this helps! Della

    straight to pureed foods?

Hi All, I had to do 48 hours of clear liquid post op. Now I'm past that stage, so I am on 1 week of what they call "full liquids". It's all of the clear liquids (broth, decaf hot tea, decaf cold tea, Isopure Protein Water, water, sugar free Jello and popsicles) plus, I can add: pudding, flan, yogurt, very thin oatmeal or cream of wheat, or very diluted mashed potatoes. They encourage adding Protein powder to just about anything palatable! I've found that the Isopure 40 Gram of Protein Water in "grape frost" isn't too bad. The mango peach was retchid. ICK! What is everyone else eating? Hope all is well! Della

Those that have had surgery this week

The port site is definately the most sore for me also. I had surgery on the 8th. I find that holding a small pillow against your stomach works well when you are trying to walk and get up. Don't lay flat...prop yourself up with a few pillows. Everyday the port pain should get better.
  7. Well, it's officially done. I am a banded sister! I had the lap band surgery done at GBMC in Baltimore , MD. The surgery went ok, apparently I'm a bleeder so that caused some problems. Once I stopped bleeding and got banded, all was well. Once in recovery, they took me to do my swallow. Nothing was going through my band so the dr had to come down and let air out of my belly. Once we got that done, I was back up to recovery and getting ready to go home. I've been sleeping alot and walking as much as possible while awake. I haven't had the energy to weigh myself yet. I've been drinking Isopure Protien Water and propel every couple of hours to meet my protein and stay hydrated. I'm excited that it's done and the pain really was minimal considering I was a nervous wreck! :cool2:
  8. Well, I have my big day on Wednesday! At this point I don't really know what to expect. I've never had surgery before, never been in the hospital and I'm a big baby. I'm trying to stay positive bcause I really am excited to start a new journey in my life. I'm getting banded at GBMC in Baltimore, MD. Any advice? Thanks Fellow Bandsters!
  9. Hi All, I'm scheduled for April 8th at 11 am. Woo-hoo! :tt2: I am so excited but really NERVOUS! Best of Luck everyone!
  10. I had to gain like 8 pounds to "qualify." Now, I'm trying to lose while I'm on my supervised diet before my surgery. Strange, isn't it?
  11. Thanks for all of your responses! My sister is two weeks post-banding and she is doing great. She had a lot of shoulder pain and she has some occasional deep pain where her port is located. Other than that, she is healing well and is down 24 pounds since her liquid diet. Thanks, DM
  12. Hello All, I'm new here! I will be banded in March of 2009. I'm a little nervous, scared and excited all rolled into one. I've never had ANY kind of surgery so I don't know really what to expect. I've been reading the pro's and con's and I've also watched the surgery on YouTube. Any advice? My sister was banded 2 weeks ago. Thanks!
