New to this forum. Was banded in 2009. Did extremely well and was on my way to better health. In January 2013, I developed severe vomiting and could not keep anything down. I had new insurance and had to find a doctor who would take over my care. Finally in April I found one and a swallow study showed a slippage. She removed all the saline in the band and low and behold I gained almost all my weight back. My doctor recommended a conversion to a sleeve. The insurance said they would approve the removal but not the sleeve conversion. They wanted me to become diabetic again and they said my BMI wasn't quite as high as they wanted it to be. Really? I had to become unhealthy again before they would consider covering me. I researched going to Mexico and was really going to do that but when my doctor heard that I was contemplating that, she helped me receive a cash discount at the hospital and her own professional services and the anesthesiologist fee. So, I spoke with my family and decided that was something that I would need to do for my health. I am 3 days post op. Not having as near as much pain as I did with the band surgery. Only thing is I am having a very hard time getting in the liquids. I can't keep up with them and noticing that the urine output is slowing down. Any suggestions?
