Hi Haley, I hope you werent close to any of the devistation from Huricane Irene! My brother lives in Vermont and he was lucky but has sent me alot of very sad pictures! I love that state visit it every Summer! I am brand new to these board as well. I have started my journey and just went last week for my consultation with the surgeon. I don't need a referral Thand God...My PCP has actually told me to go for it a couple of times but it took me a coupld of years to agree. My BMI is 47.3. I have a date for surgery which is November 111th. I hope all goes well for you! Debbie

Hello All, Hopefully I am posting right. I just started my journey on August 25th by going to a seminar in NJ. I had my first consultation with the surgeon yesterday Septembet 8th. I now have to go to all the doctors for clearance and have a tentative date for surgery on NOVEMBER 11TH. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. Can anyone let me know what to expect pre surgery and the first few weeks after surgery. I have a special needs child and have to have the proper people help me with her. I also am not getting much support from my husband or mother so I would love some support from others who have been there and who are starting out like me. Hope to hear from you soon. Great post - that is the exact post that made me feel good about my decision too. I am not banded yet just staring out surgery is scheduled for 11/11/11 but have the same type of questions as you. I even am reading Amy's blog now because I feel she has helped me feel good about my decision. Good Luck!!!

Thank you Shirley that helped alot. I see that this is a great site to be on to answer questions and find out more and more how I made the right decision to go ahead with this. Did you have people not supporting you? My husband and mother are nnot supporting me right now but my kids are so far.

Hello everyone, my name is Debbie and have been thinking about getting banded for about a year now. I am ready to really start finding out what this entails. I have been on weight watchers numerous times but always gained it back. Please let me know all you can about this procedure. Where should I go to look for a doctor in Monmouth County. All I have found so far are up north and from what I read I have to see this surgeon alot and I dont want to drive too far from my house. I will search this forum to find out what I can but would love to hear from expierience people out there especially in Monmouth County NJ. Thanks!:hurray:
