  1. i was band Oct 08. my experience has been a learn as i go process; i did not attend an extensive educational class prior to surgery. Since Oct i've lost 25 pounds. i am proud of this accomplishment (started at 200 pounds) but as i read many of your stories, i think this is nothing and prehaps i should be farther along. The fact is, my journey has not been all peaches and cream. maybe this is the result of not having gone through an extensive education process, maybe not. this is what i want to know from you. i love my lap band, but it is not the quick fix i'd imagined it to be. i have to work at losing every pound and inch! i have 5 cc's. daily exercise and good nutrition are at the top of my daily to do list. some days i'm on it and other days i'm not! anyone relate? recently i realized i am most successful at weight loss and getting on with my daily life (i'm 57, female, type A working professional) if i consume a diet consisting primarily of vitiman and protein rich liquids for two meals a day and a balanced third meal. doing so seems so much less complicated. i would appreciate hearing from those of you that have been band for several months, have very busy schedules and consider your weight loss journey successful, but not w/o its challenges. how so? whats working for you?
  2. Hi Tylrgurl,

i was band 0ct 08 and have lost 25 pounds to date. please tell me more about your journey. how much have you lost and what would you say is the primary reason (relative to the lap ban that accounts for your success)?

  3. I'm a 56 year young female, band October 2008 by Dr. Jamshid Nazarian in BH, CA. My weight at surgery was 200lbs. My weight today is 185lbs. My goal weight is 135. Although this is my first post to lap band talk, I've been reading as much as I can since finding and registering onto this site a few weeks ago. I researched the lap band procedure prior to surgery and received important basic information from my surgeon. However, this site and links from it have been a valuable source of information. I had my first fill Dec 23rd. I didn't feel any restriction post surgery and I don't feel any restriction now. However, I am not discouraged. I learned from reading the forums on "post op" and "adjustments" just what others experienced. I now have more comprehendsive understanding of the process and more specific questions to ask my doctor when I see him for my second fill, Jan 20th. Until then, I try to watch what I eat and carefully monitor my portions. To compensate for the holiday eating, I have voluntarily put myself on an intake of liquid protein for the next few days. Although I have had the band for 60 days now, I feel like I am just beginning and look forward to the 20th. I'm ready to feel restriction!
