Marcy, I just want to mention that I am approaching my monthly, and I am very tight right now. This also happened to me last month but being it was the first time, I didn't put 2 and 2 together. I think it's very possible that hormones affect things......

Hello??? Does lap band work???
mattie7632 replied to PamelaLVN's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What your surgeon has told you--whether that's accurate or you have misunderstood--is different from what most of us have been told. That alone, would make me question what he has advised you to do. Personally, I always question. Medical errors are something like the top 3 reasons for deaths in the US each year! -
There's always got to be some righteous person to use this forum as an outlet for their rage. I completely knew what you were talking about, and I also didn't think you had unrealistic expectations. We are learning about our bands, and that's exactly what my surgeon said also...."we are learning". To wonder or ask if you might need a fill is normal. Grrrrrrrrr

I'm in a similar situation. I don't know if I need a fill or not, appt is next week. I'm pretty sure that if I wasn't eating protein as instructed I'd be losing nothing at all though. Since I don't really know where I should be and I"m not losing very fast, I'll probably end up with fills until one day it's too much and I need an un-fill At least then I'll know about where I should be I guess.

What is a healthy (and normal) weight loss rate?
mattie7632 replied to melzie_99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only losing a couple pounds a month. So long as the scale is going down I don't fret it too much (so far!) -
Regardless if it was harmless complimenting or not, if it makes you uncomfortable you might want to consider dumping your drink over his head. Some guys are just pigs. Your story has a real "creepy" familiarity to it and it's going to bug me trying to recall who the past creep in my life was!!! Thank God he's married so it will probably never go further than stupid compliments. He'll probably say like the same thing day after day now. See, I'm developing an image in my mind. I've got him pegged now: cordurouy jacket, plaid pants, stupid fake smile carrying his coffee and stopping in your cube to say "Well hello there skinny" LMBO

Methadone And Lap Band
mattie7632 replied to Justin B.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Treatment for substance abuse is specifically covered by HIPAA privacy--meaning, if you dont' want this information released to your insurance company, make sure you SPECIFICALLY STATE AND SIGN to your doctors office that this protected health information is NOT to be released to your insurance company. This way, they can only send the medical notes relative to your weight. There is no insurance contract that says the doctor must release this information so don't let any office staff try to tell you that. If your insurance company already has this info by way of a claim, etc, that is another matter, but with my experience they won't even look at those past claims when considering authorization. They just want the paperwork required by your specific plan that is relative to the procedure you are hoping to get authorized. -
To answer the question about the scar--the incision is lower so any normal swimsuit/bikini should still hide it.

Yes, I've had one. I wont' lie, it is a brutal brutal surgery. I had no complications, but recovery is still tough. It will be difficult to move around, roll over, etc. and you can expect it to be worse than the lapband. I don't regret it--I'd do it again in a heartbeat, but wow, it really is major. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions along the way

Did they put Fluid in your band during surgery?

Has anyone else done this
mattie7632 replied to Boiler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go grocery shopping, get healthy foods. Get rid of any crappy foods. Just make a decision and go for it I guess -
Have a lump that formed above my belly button?!?
mattie7632 replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My guess is it's nothing serious and developed during healing. I would mention it at your next visit, but not sure I would make a separate appt about it, since you are only 10 days out. Or maybe just call them and ask the nurse -
You need to ask bcbs EXACTLY why it was denied. You will just be wasting your time until you have all the facts. Get the rep to tell you exactly what you didn't provide, or what documentation was not good enough and THEN you can get what they need. It will do you no good to go thru appeals if you don't even know what you are appealing. Good Luck!

suggestions for tuna, chicken, and egg salads
mattie7632 replied to tnt21705's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I second that. Tuna/egg salad is quite good. That's how we do it all the time, and I am able to eat this without bread because it is so much better tasting and less dry than chicken or tuna salad alone. Mayo is added of course and any other pickles or spices you prefer. I like it with just salt and pepper. -
I'm all about pre-cooking healthy stuff so I have Protein meals on hand. Some of you might remember my "cabbage meals" I've posted about. Well, here's my latest and OMG it is SO GOOD!!! Taco Spinach salad Pre-cook about a pound or so of ground turkey or lean ground beef, add taco seasoning. This is your meat topping. Have on hand shredded mozarella, grape tomatoes, lite ranch dressing, black olives if you like. Add up to 4 oz taco meet over non-cooked spinach leafs to start the salad (I prefer baby spinach-organic as it lasts longer and has more nutritional value) Sprinkle with mozarella, add tomatoes and olives to taste, Add salad dressing or salsa to taste It is delicious, filling and fits the diet mode!

Anti-Depressants with the Lap-Band
mattie7632 replied to Ms_C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually have a prescription for it I just never took it. Do you recommend taking it in the a.m. or p.m., if I want to have the appetite curbing effects at it's best after dinner time......or does it just last the same for the whole 24 hours? -

Anti-Depressants with the Lap-Band
mattie7632 replied to Ms_C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I have tons of wellbutrin in my stash. Does it really help with those cravings? My hardest time is at night when I want to snack so bad but if Wellbutrin is that good I might give it a try! -
what does "stuck" feel like?
mattie7632 replied to Pammy S Lewis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, that's pretty much stuck! The only thing that works for me is getting rid of it, and by that I mean throwing it up! -
Anti-Depressants with the Lap-Band
mattie7632 replied to Ms_C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take Effexor with 0 problem. I asked my doc if the med would possibly hinder my weight loss and he said no, many of his patients are or were on anti-depressents. -
Lots of burping anyone?
mattie7632 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only burp if I drink after eating--which we're not supposed to do. I get hiccups a lot though, just after eating
