4 days post op and STARVING!

I'm very glad to hear this is normal! But I eagerly await the day that this hunger pain is gone! Good Luck everyone!
  2. If it's not a covered benefit on the policy there's nothing you can do--it's not a benefit. However, if it's a benefit covered when medically necessary --and you need approval for the surgery, a good surgeon's office will have staff that knows exactly what requirements are needed to do the surgery. First, find out if it's a covered benefit. If it is, find a good surgeon that takes your insurance, make an appointment and speak to the staff about what your financial obligations would be. Good Luck

4 days post op and STARVING!

Oh thank you!! I was hoping this was typical and TEMPORARY! You're not hungry anymore are you? Will the lower part always be hungry? I can't imagine, I'd think no one would want this if they could expect to be hungry the rest of their lives! Wow it hurts I hope this passes soon!

    SOMETHING WRONG???

Swanson makes an all natural vegetarian vegetable broth. Also Knorr has cubes of vegetable broth that tastes really good--but loaded with MSG Never in my life did I anticipate there'd be a day when I knew the brands and flavors of broth, and their ingredients. LMBO

    Nausea and hunger

I thought we're not supposed to feel hunger? I am having horrible hunger pains right now (just banded), yet I can't eat. HOw can I feel full and starving at the same time! I've heard this should "pass" but we shall see.....Let me know if it does for you!

Pain in stomach when I eat!

Yes, I have this problem, but I was just banded Monday!!! It's almost intolerable. IF I drink broth, Protein Water, eat Jello, etc. I get the pain followed by the worst hunger pains I've ever experienced!! I'm just hoping this will pass and it's "gas" or something. It sounds like this might be something that could occur again. Not looking forward to this if it's not temporary!

    Surgeon Meeting was Beast!

Dear Kourtany, My surgeon is supposedly the best in the area, yet I was still overcome with doubt and nerves. Every step of the way had me cringing, from the pre-op tests, to fasting, to the dieticians, etc. Thankfully it moved along so quickly that before I knew it, I was out of the hospital and it was done! I'm a little uncomfortable now trying to figure out how to eat and drink properly, but friends who've had the procedure have told me it is normal and shall pass. I've lost 12 pounds in 9 days. I know it really is overwhelming but if this is something you've always wanted, you will likely be happy in the end. I don't hear too often people saying their lapband was a mistake.

    somebody please...help

I think the above posters are right. You should be eligible for Cobra for 18 months or current timeframe per law. I personally would be calling the HR office immediately about that one.
  9. Good luck, you will do great!

    Boobies question

    My twins got smaller too......
  11. I had my surgery yesterday too! Oddly I feel hungry and full at the same time. I did have about 6 bites of Soup and couldn't eat anymore, yet my stomach is still growling "beneath the band"? Is this possible? And boy I hope this won't be always because it's very uncomfortable!!! But I"ve lost 9 pounds in 7 days!
  12. Had the surgery! Back home. Sore but lost 9 pounds during the 7 day pre-op diet!
  13. I'm fighting a cold this weekend (which I NEVER am) and am concerned I will get to the hospital in the morning and they will tell me to go home! Should I reveal that I'm not feeling well, or not say anything if I don't have a fever? Anyone have experience with this?
  14. Thanks guys! This is ridiculous I know! The anesthesiologist thought I had a cold when I didn't so I'm afraid they won't allow the cold I sure hope so I"m so sick of this clear liquid diet!!

    Decision Time

Personally I would NEVER get bypass surgery unless you are 400-500 pounds and your health demanded it. What a horribly invasive procedure that you can never undo! I am not a doctor but I have worked in the medical field for 11 years and I am disgusted that your doctor even suggested this at your weight and age! I hope and pray that you do not consider anything but the band.

    Second guessing myself

Hi GoodenoughAnne I too am being banded Monday the 27th and have the same thoughts you do. Being starving doesn't help at all and today (Christmas) I shed a few tears while making dinner for the fam then making myself broth which I'm so sick of!! If it weren't that I personally know two people who've had it done and keep telling me I'll be so happy...I might have backed out by now. We should try to think that the discomfort and possible future problems are still probably better than what our health might be in years to come....
  17. Having the procedure Dec 27th, Monday! Been on the clear liquid diet. I admit I have cheated a couple times and popped a couple bites of food! I actually did better the first 3 days and on day 4 I started to cave. Today is day 6 and today and tomorrow I have to be sure to do very well and drink lots of water! I am feeling like under the weather now and hope I'm not getting a virus or something that would prevent Dr. from doing the procedure!! Good Luck everyone, and Merry Christmas!
  18. I just cheated on my pre-op diet. Just had tuna!! I'm on day 5 of a 7 day clear liquid diet and getting really cranky about it!!!---broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, diet soda, and coffee or tea only!! I understand that the purpose of the diet is to shrink the liver, but logic says that people of varying weights will have varying degrees of fat on the liver even after the liquid diet. That combined with the other pre-op diets I've read about makes this seem not as necessary as the doctor makes us believe? Any doctors out there that have some comments on this? Does eating a small amount of Protein in the middle of the diet really make a difference???
