  1. Somebody enlighten me...I was under the impression we were to continue liquids after being banded to avoid being sick, vomiting and ultimately causing the band to slip or pull out the stitches. But if we're not sick, what is the purpose of this continued liquid only diet? Clearly the band has nothing to do with our initial 10, 20, 30 or even 40 pounds being lost.....Anyone know the answer to this?
  2. OMG Yes!!! I was banded the 27th and it has been not fun! I even resorted to my pain meds at night because the hunger pains were so severe. I am starting to take some protein shakes and a little bit of creamed soup now and this helps immensely, but the first 5 days were really tough.
  3. I don't want to tell because I'm ashamed or afraid of failing, it's just personal is all. I can run the mouth with the best of em, but some things I don't care to freely discuss, such as my marriage, relationships, doctors appointments and surgeries. I don't like feeling like I have to tell some people--My chiropractor is also my CLIENT-wherein lies the problem. I have no problem telling my "chiropractor", I have a problem telling MY CLIENT!!! Ahhhh, another lesson learned...
  4. LOL I love it! My first thought also would have been something smartass like that! Ahhh if only we can say what we think sometimes! Thanks for the crack up!

    Going Potty ?

Thanks Mandy! I figured as much, but my husband told me I was full of S#!@ so I though I'd better check it out <--J/K !!

    Protein shakes- UGH!!!

I've got some nasty, expensive high protein french vanilla crap, but I can't stomach it so I've stocked up on Special K protein shakes for when I can have them regularly. (tomorrow!)
  7. Ohhhhh....you must have the 14 day diet where you're allowed the one small meal thing huh? You get 2 more weeks after surgery of then mushy foods....but hey "this too shall pass"
  8. hahahaha!!! corn....who'd have thought? And I know more about broth brands than I ever cared to know about ........
  9. I'm not sure congrats is deserved being that I forced to starve myself......LOL!!!

    Band and metal detector!

Seriously! How would we explain that! Surely that can't happened or the model would have been revised long ago.....I mean bandsters have certainly traveled by plane since then...LOL, but it still makes me nervous that other detectors have noticed it....

    Band and metal detector!

I'm sure it's the port not the silicone band. I specifically asked this same question before I got the band--if it would cause security devices (airports) and such to go off and they just looked at me all weird. Well, it sounds like it wasn't such a weird question afterall!!!

    Pre-op tests?

I had to have labs, an EKG, and an Upper GI-barium swallow. It was all done in one morning. It may vary per doctor, but I bet they all require the upper GI--
  13. Do you have to do a clear liquid diet for 14 days????
  14. I think it's because I know him too well and he's also a client of mine, but ironically I don't actually care about most people knowing, I just don't want to get into it with him right now. Funny when reading your comments though it seems so simple, why not just tell him? I must have a personality disorder...!
  15. LOLOL, seriously. I got Facebook going on another tab but this one's more interesting....!
  16. Oh no offense taken. I'm being very careful, really. The soft noodles were just a few, and I only took them because that's all that was soft enough looking in the house after my daughter drank the emergency Protein drinks!!!. I'm not "eating" only but a small amount when I am feeling overly starving or dizzy from no calories. It's definitely not my goal to cheat and the staple of my diet is still....popsicles and broth!!!! let's not forget the Jello.....
  17. you first make your ticker from that ticker site, then copy the code from the ticker site to the signature part of your settings here on this site...then it will show up each time you post...be sure to copy the right code, there are 2 options there....it's not the facebook, etc. one, it's the other one....

    BMI - Insurance Question

It's hard to say, but I'm betting it goes through. I own a medical billing service billing health insurance for a living, and let me tell you one thing...doctors are experts at documenting what is needed to get approval. Their salaries depend on it. If your insurance doesn't approve you right now, stuff your face with cake and chips, gain 5-10 pounds and go back in a month and have them try again!!! That's what I'd do!!
  19. If anybody says they NEVER cheated, I don't believe them. For the most part, I stuck to it, but there were a couple days of pre-op during the liquid diet I couldn't take it, and I had a small portion of tuna, and another day I stole a few tater tots. It helped a lot and I still lost 9 pounds in 7 days. I read up on liver shrinking diets, if you must cheat try to consume only Protein
  20. Good observation, I've noted the same about the pre-op diet. While I can appreciate that one certainly loses weight eating no calories, it can't be as important as some say else all doctors would require it, right? Working with doctors for a living, I tend to believe that often doctors tend do what they've always done, or think just because that was the norm 15 years ago....you see where this is going....In any case, it can't be a bad thing so I will do my best, but if I am so hungry I'm miserable then I'm going to eat something..cautiously. p.s. One poster before said it was just another way for "fat-hating surgeons" to make us suffer! LOL
  21. I was really only in pain the first day and night. Now I am just sore when I move or bend, otherwise no pain, except HUNGER pains!
  22. Aren't you glad to hear about all us cheaters???? LOL My husband and daughter try to scold me when when they can tell I am thinking about grabbing something more solid than BROTH! I tell them to try consuming no calories for nearly 2 weeks and see how they feel! I have stolen some thin mashed potatoes yesterday and tonight I had a few bites of noodles (chewed well) and I am absolutely fine. I will still try to stick to the prescribed diet as much as possible, but if I'm not feeling well I"m going to slip in a few bites in to get through, very cautiously.
  23. Had the procedure done Monday, and I am starving! I am on the liquid diet but I am much hungrier than before the procedure when on clear liquids! Is this going to pass? The physical hunger pains almost make me sick and dizzy! Is this normal??? Help! Thanks!

    can you feel the band??

I cannot feel the band inside or out, but like the posters above you do have that sensation of a gas bubble at times. I'm only 5 days out so I don't know all the tricks to avoiding that particular feeling yet. Also, I cannot feel the port, I had to ask my doctor where it was!
