    Any Idea What's Going on

Did you drink your Water just before, after or during your casserole meal or was the sobe water carbonated? Any of the above for me, sometimes will cause a stuck feeling or air bubble type pain. Normally I absolutely have to go spit it up (sorry, I know gross) to get rid of the feeling.

    Four Golden Rules

I think it's funny all the contradictory replies to the original post, which happens to be good information from a doctor. AVOID not ELIMINATE. Every one of us bandsters has broken all 4 of those rules and that's why we all are (or were) fat. Just because we've lost weight doesn't make any of us experts in weight loss. I bet with a few minutes of research, we'd all find that the facts back up what she has posted.

    Four Golden Rules

Suzanne Sommers once said something like this: "If I can't pick it, pluck it, milk it or catch it I don't eat it" In other words, whole foods!!!

    Four Golden Rules

If you keep eating McDonalds, slushies, ice cream, lattes, chips and processed crap--all of which are don't's on these 4 rules--you probably won't lose much weight.

    Is your port area sore?

I also was banded Dec 27 and sometimes my port area still feels sore when I lay in certain positions.........
  6. Wow, the sad thing here is that gall stones can be flushed from the body, naturally.

    somebody is a lier!

Sometimes it takes several days for insurance companies to show documentation in their system, so your doctor's office may have sent it.

    STUCK???

It's sort of like getting food stuck in your throat, but not really. It happens if you eat too fast from not chewing the food enough. You will find certain foods need to be chewed entirely or this will happen. It's not with all foods though.

    My Social Life

Hey I still love food, I'm sure we all do! I just can't eat as much of it most of the time, and it's easier to make healthier choices now Glad that this info helped! I think I was worried about how it would affect my lifestyle too, because hubby and I traditionally gto out to eat on the weekends. We still do

    no fill, normal?

That sounds like what my doctor would do. If we are losing 1-2 lbs a week he doesn't see any need for a fill. If not, and we aren't having any problems, then he will consider giving another fill.

    My Social Life

p.s. Example: Last night we went to Joe's Crabshack for dinner. I ate my side salad and some shrimp and fish off my platter of fish, calamari and shrimp, plus a few fries. I was perfectly satisfied and I lost 1/2 pound today. Of course during the liquid stage you can't eat that, but when you are eating again it will be fine!

    My Social Life

Nah, that won't happen! My social life has not changed whatsoever. I still go out to eat, out to lunch, meet for coffee, go to BBQ's, etc. If there are no healthy options for food, I eat what I want, just less of it. I rarely feel deprived and I think most people will say the same, stand by for more opinions.....

    Hyperthyroidism..

Didn't mean to imply you didn't know what you were talking about, but a lot of people get the two names confused. Synthroid also slowly kills the thyroid .....I've been on it about 10 years and mine's pretty much dead now, but when I was first diagnosed I could have still naturally improved it's function with iodine (not irradiated, I wouldn't take that either!!!!) and other supplements, but of course my doctor didn't discuss THAT with me. They never do offer healthy natural options, they are just drug dealers with Doctorates. Anyway, now I am dependent on Synthroid for life, as most peole become once diagnosed with sluggish or other thyroid disorders. Thanks to our wonderful modern medical profession and BigPharma

    Is anybody from St. Louis?

Yep, Dr. Van Wagner is supposed to be one of the best according to the docs around here. But of course, I have nothing to compare him too! I've had no problems with him or his staff, other than I think his resident dietician is too young.....lol

Fell Off the Wagon Today :(

LOL! Trust me a bucket of chicken would have hit the spot, of course it probably would have gotten stuck but at least I would have gotten a few bites before disaster hit!!! Also, it's been pretty freaking hard to pass up the homemade blueberry pie in the fridge!!! Go figure, now that I eat so much less, I've become more interested in cooking and baking!

Fell Off the Wagon Today :(

Thanks everyone for the nice words. I'm back in check today with no urges to snack! Must have been a full moon yesterday....LOL!

newbie - how bad are the side effects?

Take the negative into consideration, but also be aware that most people don't have problems that aren't self induced. The times that I "vomit" really are simply because I haven't chewed enough or ate too fast.

    caffeine

Yes I did, every day, with non-dairy creamer AND splenda!!!

    Hyperthyroidism..

The problem with Synthroid is that it is a synthetic hormone that takes over leaving your actual thyroid sitting on the sidelines, and by taking it after time your body can't regain any actual thyroid function. So like most meds, it is treating the symptoms but destroying something else in the process. Anytime you can find a doctor that encourages natural remedies whenever possible, it is exponentially better for your body and your health.

    Protein Shake Winner

I don't care for Muscle Milk either, Pure Protein Cookies and Creme is the bomb, if you can ever find it!!! EAS is pretty good too, 17gm protein and 110 cals....

    Hyperthyroidism..

HYPER? That is not normally associated with obesity, HYPOthyroidism or Hashimoto's disease is...are you sure that's not what you're talking about? I do have hypothyroidism, have the band, lost 30 lbs, and still have hypothyroidism....did you know you can take iodine for thyroid dysfunction? I think it's sold as potassium iodine....
  23. Well you know your body better than anyone, if this is what happened last time then I would wait it out a few weeks to see if normalizes like before. I do find it odd that you can't keep liquids down though. That's never happened to me and I am very tight with a good fill right now.

When will I start eating less

Yes, in GENERAL, the band will eventually force you to eat less. However, if you eat certain foods, it won't matter, you'll be able to eat forever, if you so chose. For example: Ice cream, latte's, for me nachos!, and you'll figure out other foods that will just go down with no problem. Avoid them!!!!

When will I start eating less

I agree with this. I have had three fills and most of the time the band helps me a LOT and prevents me from eating too much. Of course, before the band took over, I had to do this myself and still do at times. There are still, and I imagine there always will be, certain foods that I can eat and eat and eat. When I eat these foods I have to exercise the most control so I don't blow it completely. Also, we all have bad days. Don't kill yourself over it. Just follow the eating rules and be sure your bad days don't outweigh your good days so you continue to lose weight! Good Luck!!!
