YOU ARE GOING TO BE HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNGRY
mattie7632 replied to cheryl2586's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fluffy, this is not the first post you've put up indicating your dissatisfaction with the poster's content. The fact is: new people will continue to come this board and will continue to post questions that have been asked before, whether you like it or not. If we wanted to just look up an answer without chatting we could go to any informational site, not a forum. Who wants to look up old posts within lapbandTALK when we can have interaction with current people today? If it bothers you so much you should find a new forum and stop bashing the rest of us who are new in this journey. -
Did your Dr have you stop meds......
mattie7632 replied to Southern Leo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pretty sure my friends were off their meds within the first year. They had lost most of their weight by then. -
Period during surgery?
mattie7632 replied to amberakamom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yeah IceQueen is right. Business as usual. I asked the nurse about that because I thought I might be having mine, and she said no problem, they have pads underneath you! Yuck I thought, please don't let me have it! She said I couldn't keep a tampon in, but I decided mentally that if it was my time, that I would keep it in anyway! I got lucky, it didn't happen ! -
Is it normal to feel this way?
mattie7632 replied to kirbymom02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for that tip! I am just on full liquids which as you many know has a little bit of "food" like Soup and grits, Protein drinks. I know I'm not even consuming 1000 calories a day, yet I've GAINED 2 pounds back! That has me very scared about what will happen when I'm eating real food! -
Almost 2yrs and 100 lbs with neck and shoulder pain
mattie7632 replied to tutornmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have the same thing. Your chiropractor should be able to tell you what stretches to do with your neck while at your desk, they make a HUGE difference. -
Is it normal to feel this way?
mattie7632 replied to kirbymom02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 12/27 and I'm starting to feel the same way. I heard getting the first fill will make a difference since right now while the swelling has gone down we don't have anything restricting our appetites. -
Lost my Post-Op Diet

All These Complications are Making Me Nervous!!!
mattie7632 replied to LaurenAshely's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree with some of the other posters here Lauren. They're right, the majority, who are successful have gone on living their lives and aren't sitting on the computer posting frustrations and concerns. Mostly you are finding relatively newly banded folks like myself, who might not feel the greatest yet. Right now, honestly I don't feel good, sometimes wonder if it was a mistake, and all the above you might have read about. But I remember the 2 people who ultimately led me to this decision. One of them was about 350 lbs 2 years ago, currently in about a size 8, the other was 235 and is about 100 lbs today. They have long forgotten the little frustrations of being newly banded, and so shall the majority of us given a little time. Best of Luck -
Strange question....need feedback
mattie7632 replied to breesue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not a strange question at all! Yes, I get burps out of the blue, and the hiccups a lot. Not quite 2 weeks post op so I haven't yet figured out what they are signaling, if anything. -

I have a friend who no longer needs diabetes and one other med, but I forget what it is. Is that what you meant? -
Lost my Post-Op Diet
mattie7632 replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The name of this forum is lapband TALK. If it was so important for me to call my doctor I would. Take a look around, this forum is filled with questions that could be directed to one's doctor if necessary, but that would defeat the purpose of registering with this site wouldn't it??? -
Did your Dr have you stop meds......
mattie7632 replied to Southern Leo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not supposed to take any meds or Vitamins unless I can chew them. This is a problem because I take high doses of a specific fish oil for skin problems, amongst other things. I've had to switch to a liquid fish oil that judging by the label, should be more effective if not better, but it's not and some of my symptoms are starting to return. Other than that, I can take any meds so long as they are in liquid or chewable form, no other restrictions. But let me tell you, crushing vitamins and pills gets old real fast! -
Lost my Post-Op Diet
mattie7632 replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I think I get the idea and I hope my body will let me know if I made a wrong choice! -
I'm talking a poll!! My surgeon said that chubby bubby's are accident prone. So, are you or were you "accident prone?" Does your mother worry more that YOU will get hurt, and not the others? Does your husband call you "Grace" even though your name is Jane? How bout it, let's hear about it! Are you clumsy? My answer: YES
-
Oh my gosh! I think you take the cake! You poor thing that's too many broken appendages!!!!

What to do with an unsupportive spouse?
mattie7632 replied to finallydidit777's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my goodness, I'd probably be telling my husband that when he looked like he did in college then he could pass judgment!! But we all deal with our spouses in our own way, I hope yours isn't causing you too much distress -
help !! hiccups ....
mattie7632 replied to kaytiebear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the hiccups a lot now also, after I eat or drink. There seems to be no correlation with what or how much. This morning I took a sip of a protein drink and had the hiccups a minute later. Go figure. Oh well, hiccups are better than fat right? -
Apparently many WLS surgeons are keeping it a secret ...
mattie7632 replied to Phranp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure I will feel that way too, it's just not quite what I expected. I'm not disappointed though. And unfortunately, I understand why doctors have to "make the sale" in our mixed up world. Anyway, I'm sure in a few months all I'll be thinking of is weight loss too and when someone asks me, it probably won't occur to me to tell them how starving I was at first! -

mattie7632 replied to Mewizza's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well my opinion is an educated one. If you work in and understand insurance you would realize what's already happening in the industry and how in the long run it will help nobody. But as usual, most Americans are concerned with me-me-me and what they can get off someone else, so right now the delusion is that this will help you. -
how funny! Yeah I've had some nice trips and slips myself......I always thought it was my shoes...I'd prefer to just think that

What do you drink for 2 weeks?
mattie7632 replied to Quilter at Heart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! Well the honest answer is....you don't feel full. The pre-op diet is very tough. There are not many options you can get out of broth, Jello, popsicles, diet soda, broth, jello.....LOL. At times you feel like you are starving, I won't lie. I just kept putting in more jello and broth, more jello and broth......GOOD LUCK, and just think, this part is the worst and it's only uphill from here....or downhill when looking at the scale -

Welcome to the world of insurance. It will only get worse if/when Obamacare completes. -
Apparently many WLS surgeons are keeping it a secret ...
mattie7632 replied to Phranp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why are you so amazed at our surprise about being hungry? WHO tells you that? Not the surgeons who want to make the sale, not the bandsters who only tell you how much weight they've lost. Yes, it was QUITE the surprise to find how extremely hungry you are when you are told "you can eat about 6 bites and you are full"..NEWS FLASH FULL MEANS NOT HUNGRY....."and the full feeling lasts 3-5 hours." So yes, this is a surprise to say the least. Doesn't mean I wouldn't do it over again, but I would put it as a CON to this procedure that I should have been aware of beforehand. -
Ashamed and Feeling Defeated
mattie7632 replied to Drasan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's got to be discouraging. I don't understand why you don't have restriction. My surgeon says we should only be able to eat about 6 bites and then be full for up to 5 hours. I'm not on a regular diet yet, so I don't know personally. -
6th day post op---and I haven't used the bathroom other than tinkling--in a week. Is this normal or should I mention it to my doctor? I've also been on mostly clear liquids for almost 2 weeks as well.....
