    Help!

It's common to have a hernia repaired at the same time, I'm sure your overnight stay will not be extended unless there are complications.

    Hiccups?!

My chiropractor told me today where the pressure point is for hiccups. It's directly on the side of your left hand, just down from the pinky but higher than the wrist, .....she says put pressure there and it will stop them....

    stiches removal

I don't think that is entirely correct. I've had two other major surgeries both 12-24 inches on my abdomen, with glue and sutures underneath the skin. I'm think in most cases it's more likely a doctors personal preference. I work with several doctors and I know many are reluctant to change. 'Acadia' timestamp='1295395933' post='1563033'] There are specific reasons why surgeons use sutures and staples, here are a few: If more than 5 sutures or staples would be required then the surgeon is required to use sutures or staples. If the wound requires tension to close it - the surgeon is required to use sutures or staples. If scarring is an issue with where the wound is placed - it's in the patient's best interest to have sutures or staples. Surgical adhesives are not FDA approved for all wounds. Surgical adhesives are very expensive ($30/vial). In addition, using surgical glue increases the chance of hypertrophic scars, and most people would prefer to have as minimal a scar as possible. Ultimately it's up to the surgeon, but sutures and staples provide a better wound seal and a less invasive scar.

    Psych Eval...

Yes I was banded 12/27. BCBS approved me in like 2 days. How did the supv diet go? And yes, of course no one called you back! Boy do I know how that goes. It's as if our money isn't paying their salaries!

I have BCBS Fed, you will get approved in no time. But they now required the 6 mo. supervised diet!
  7. Good question, I've only been banded a month so I hope some long timers post.....
  8. your insurance will allow your chiro to do the supervised diet? That's awesome, because chiro's are really good for that sort of thing.....

    WoW....I feel Good

Well too early to contribute much to this thread. I've just lost 15-16 lbs this month, all from pre-op and post-op dieting.

    not sure!!!

Got it, sorry I misread the question. You're right though, we have to choose to be successful, therefore we shall
  13. mattie7632

    not sure!!!

Everyone is unique. You might not need a support system but someone else might. But statistics show that people who have a support system tend to be more successful, in whatever it may be they are trying to accomplish. As for this country being critical of overweight people, why that may be true but I think country has nothing to do with it, rather it's slender people are critical of heavy people. And I certainly wouldn't say that's across the board. I have slender friends who are great "support" systems for me.
  14. www.hoab.com....Dr. Van Wagner. He uses St. Alexius hospital and they both are Centers for Excellence in Bariatrics. He is considered the best in the area.
  15. Well, unless you're my husband that is. But there's no way I'll ever get him to substitute crappy foods for healthy vegetable stuff! Okay, honestly if you take a bite of cabbage spaghetti then take a bite of real spaghetti, you are probably going to notice the difference. But, let me tell you, cabbage spaghetti was GOOD! I made it with ground turkey, spaghetti sauce, spices and cabbage. Very very tasty and filling. It has got to be tons less calories.......
  16. WOW, thanks for the tips everyone! I am going out tomorrow and getting some of this spaghetti squash and mozarrella and more ground turkey! I'm getting hungry now!
  17. Wow, the eggplant pizza sounds great too! !
  18. What's up with the rudeness on this board? I don't get it...... Face it everyone, we're all the same here. You either are, or were...FAT! FAT! FAT! FAT! You may have lost weight, but you used to be FAT!!! So you see, we're all the same here, nobody's better than the other, we're just in different stages of the journey. We should be supporting each other to better ourselves and learn about the lapband. There are a lot of cool people on this board! But if you're one of those sour apples, you should get your crayons and go to the corner and color......

OMG that is so rude! How can somebody say that? That just makes me mad!

    No Restriction

I have a question. If you don't feel "restriction" after your fill, why do you have to keep waiting to get multiple fills which require waiting I assume for everybody, a month each time? Why can't you just call your surgeons office and tell him you didn't get restriction and go back in and have it fixed? That seems kind of silly to me to keep getting itty bitty bits put in when it sounds like that doesn't do it for most. Is it me or is the fill approach by most doctors too conservative?

I hope so! Probably if you're wearing a wide size you might not be after awhile!
  22. mattie7632

    what am I doing wrong

Thanks! Now I know this is normal, else I would have been very concerned. I'm trying hard not to gain any weight in the meantime.....
  23. mattie7632

    I messed up on pre-op!

oh please! I don't believe anyone that says they HAVEN'T cheated! I cheated too, had tuna one night, I couldn't take it. And THAT was on purpose! At least it was protein, it's not like you set back any weight loss with that....
