  1. Okay, odd observation regarding that and sorry for the graphic details here. Twice now in the past week, I've ended up coughing so hard I'm running to the bathroom to puke. The weird thing is, even though I had just eaten, it seems the band prevented food coming back up. Since this has happened twice now I am certain something's going on there due to the band. Point is, if anything, the band seems to keep the food down! I wonder if I had eaten "too much" if something would have come up! And hopefully I did not tear the band away or cause slippage. Will find out when I see doc.

    Restriction- What Do You Mean?

So girls, I just ate some tuna/egg salad and 1/2 a hardboiled egg and am full. I didn't measure but it was in a desert size saucer bowl, not a a full cup I'm sure. This is what I would expect to fill me, or less, with the band. Would you say this is accurate?

    Restriction- What Do You Mean?

Well for me what you posted is fabulous news. That is what I thought the band was supposed to do, what you are describing. Maybe I'm not understanding other posts, but it seems that others state they have to force themselves to put the fork down and it's a choice to stop eating. That was discouraging for me because I thought the band genuinely made you feel full, not just satisfied, and not gorged either, but full so you don't want more. Thanks for posting!
  4. I just learned my doctor only fills 1 cc at a time! Wow, since the copay is usually the "surgical" copay, or cash around $100/fill, I'd say this is milking the visits. Those of you getting fills already, are you only getting a cc at a time???

    1cc at a time?

Dear Elfipoo, I am still struggling with this information. It so conflicts with the presentation I received before having the band put in place. Look, I can eat some tuna and a hard boiled egg and be "full" without the band. But if the band doesn't stop me from eating more than this, I still cannot comprehend how it is "working"? I have yet to read on this board (I think) that the band actually stops anyone from overeating. That is what made me buy into this. Don't get me wrong, I know I could force food in regardless, but my friend who had this done, says she CAN "eat so little", not CHOOSES to eat so little. All these posts have me quite discouraged. Especially now that it could be months and numerous visits before it is "working" if it ever "works". *sigh* I don't know what response I expect back that hasn't been posted already. Just trying to figure out what my reality will be I guess
  6. I'm interested in hearing about 1st year results with Dr. Wagner. What was your weight loss after say 3, 6,9 months? Why did you lose weight? The band restricting your intake, or you were dieting and watching calories? Information appreciated! Thanks

    Think I'm getting a cold

I had a cold during surgery. I didn't tell them because I knew they might cancel! That is not my advice to you! I"ve been sick ever since surgery, 3 weeks. Now I don't know if having the cold at the time of anesthesia had anything to do with it, or simply our immune system is weakened from surgery, but in any case you are gambling with your health by not telling him. Of course, if you have obvious signs of sickness or a fever, you can't hide it.
  8. That's odd, I kept on drinking my caffeine til doomz day. And I was asleep during surgery so I didn't have a caffeine headache LOL
  9. You're right Dave, a smiley face tends to soften a post that could be misread...I like to follow up most of them that way just in case and to be sure text is not taken wrong!!! It's also a wonderful tactic with spouses....I like to send a text or email to my husband like this CLEAN UP YOUR SH*T <--notice the smiley. LOL, I was kidding about that...mostly

How bout when you're numb, but you have an itch that never gets relieved because you're numb! That's the worst ever!!!
  11. My band is sutured in place. I've been kinda sick since surgery, like 4 weeks now. I have been coughing so hard lately that I'm pretty sure if it were possible, I would have barfed up a lung or two.....or a lap band. Know what I mean? Can you cause "slippage" from this type of thing? I asked in the hospital and they said no, but then the docs want you on a certain diet so you "don't puke". And, how in the world would I even know if the band got ripped away from the skin and slid down or something. Just ideas please, I know we're not doctors here
  12. can't you have caffeine? You poor thing. I was able to have coffee and tea with sweetener, and I put non dairy creamer in it too. They didn't want me to use the dry creamer (clear liquid diet), but said it was okay if I really wanted/needed it.

    1cc at a time?

oh don't worry, I'm not eloquent either! I understand we're all unique. I asked my friend if he gives everybody 1 cc or if it's based on the individual, as I would hope it is. She seemed to think that was just his policy to do 1cc at a time, of course this could all be wrong and I have nothing to worry about. But can you imagine being one of those people who needed 8cc's and only got 1cc per month? Wow that would make me discouraged as he11

    **NEED HELP WITH DOUBT**

That's a pretty personal decision. You will read many negative things on this board, but it is human nature to yell and shout and complain when we're not happy, Many people don't stick around this board once they've succeeded, they're out dating or having a life. Plus getting the lapband is like having a baby so it seems, everybody knows somebody and everybody has an opinion. Only you know what is right for you!

    multi-personality disorder

There are some funny-bones on this forum isn't there? LOL
  17. I think this band has given me MPD. Seriously. One day I think it's great, the next day I'm all frustrated and saying what a waste. I have become loco. My excuse is residual anesthesia, that must be it or maybe food withdrawal...not sure LOL Point is, people should take the crabby posts with a grain of salt, it may only represent how a person feels that day or stage of weight loss!!!!

    1cc at a time?

Melissa, I was thinking the same thing just didn't want to post it!!! I am afraid that my doctor has the same philosophy....reward with a fill IF I lose weight without it!
  19. mattie7632

    1cc at a time?

I will definitely mention to him that I've heard of others getting 2,3 or more cc's on their first fill and see what he has to say about it. I'll trust his judgment for now--a friend is struggling to keep weight ON currently with same doctor-- (I can't imagine that being me EVER) , but if I start having to pay $100 or more for a mere 1 cc I will certainly be bringing it up if I don't notice the amount of food I am able to consume in a sitting decreasing
  20. Here's my Reality: This is just a forum. Imagine this is a reality show with a bunch of new bandsters together. There would be lots of personalities and drama in the house as well as support and encouragement. Just like there is here

    1cc at a time?

Yes perhaps I should say I'm simply starving or something. My guess is he's heard it all though but it can't hurt to try!

    multi-personality disorder

funny! Yeah, me too, I got stuck in a phone system for BCBS and was yelling at the automated voice. As if it recognizes my yelling or snotty tone!!! LOL, I probably should avoid posting today too!!!

    Not feeling the love?

ElfiePoo, you've lost a lot of weight! Can I ask how long it's taken you? I think you've done great!

    stiches removal

I had a plastic surgeon fix a cut by my eye years ago (I sound like I'm Lara Croft with a bunch of battle wounds don't I ? LOL-I 'm barely scarred-really) and he put a whole bunch of teeny tiny little sutures there. While I don't have a very noticeable scar, I do have a dent from so many tiny tight stitches. This was long before glue was around and I think the glue is genius. Sometimes I wonder why it has taken mankind until this century to discover some things. Anyway, I would find another doctor if he said he wanted to staple or suture my skin together, unless of course, it was to save life or limb, that's another matter entirely.
