WTH WHY is my hair thinning?
mattie7632 replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Reports seem to indicate that this does improve. Mine actually has not gotten any worse since I posted this. Shwew.... -
BCBS stated I must have a psyche eval, dietician eval and medical eval as requirements to authorize lapband surgery. So I did as instructed, and a month later what do I get in the mail? BCBS DENIES the psyche eval as "no authorization obtained!" Then they wouldn't give me the auth because it would be retroactive! Wow, that's serious BS! Also, the EOB said "I'm not repsonsible because the preferred doctor did not get auth and should have known" so I called BCBS and while on the phone the rep apparently changed her mind and decided that "It is my responsibility" . I've had BCBS Fed for 9 years and never a problem, but now I'm ticked! I'm gonna pay the doctor anyway, just because it's just not right. A$$holes.

You "don't know" your doctor's policy on fills after the surgery. It could be several fills before you find the band working best for you. I would ask how much it costs and/or what insurance covers if this could be a factor. Some people have claimed their doctors won't give fills when needed...try to pry and find out if the doctor will hold fills hostage if you're "not losing" or something.... I would also ask if the hospital itself is experienced with bariatric surgery. ie, will they give you meds before surgery for nausea? Some people are very sick afterwards.....

Weird Comment by fellow Bandster
mattie7632 replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be flattered. If this person is very large like you described, she is probably dreaming of looking like you. Take it like a compliment -
Wow, how much did he fill you?? I've had 3 fills and only about 3 cc's.....each time the restriction wears off in a few weeks. I'm in need of a fill again I think. Do you think you're too full? What did the doc say?
-
Yes they are the best! All 3 of mine sleep with me and I honestly couldn't imagine life without them. True they are brats because they bark when they don't know you, but I"m sure YOU know that once you get to know them, they are so worth it!!!

Almost Depressed.....
mattie7632 replied to Fessie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree also! 20-somethings without families to feed overall lose a lot faster than us adults who have slowed metabolism now. It was a LOT faster and easier to lose weight at 25 vs. 30's and 40's and older. -
Almost Depressed.....
mattie7632 replied to Fessie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I met a friend for lunch last week -- she's lost 125 lbs with the band. She asked me how it was going and I said "okay, kind of slow going". She then asked me how many cc's in my band, to which I told her about 3. She then said "Once you get a few more cc's in your band you will really start to lose, you don't have much in there right now". When I see a friend who was very heavy and she tells me it does get better with more fills, that encourages me. So in time we'll both be there! -
Have you ever regretted telling someone about the band?
mattie7632 replied to Fat Cat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't blab it to the world or anything, but I don't really care what anyone thinks anymore. That afraid-for-anyone-to-find-out phase has passed for me -
Your dog is really cute. I have chihuahuas-2 of which are long haired and look a little bit like a papillon. They are my babies!!!

Oh boy don't get me started on the educational system!!! As a result of this new way of teaching, kids are coming out of high school and they can't spell, nor can they do basic math although they are "A" students. I'm watching kid #3 try to figure out algebra and geometry when they still haven't spent much time on times tables. This "home link" crap they call it. Teach em something different every single day, result they never really master the subject which is apparent when they try to get basic office or cashier jobs -- or type on a forum!!!

Don't know what to do???? I hate that I did this..........
mattie7632 replied to shellylycz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep in mind that your surgeon is just that, a SURGEON, not a dietician. The purpose of asking you to eat only protein is that it is more solid and will keep you fuller longer. However, man should not survive on meat alone. For good nutritional advice, I would seek a professional who is qualified in that area -
Feeling like a failure...need suggestions/friends/help!!
mattie7632 replied to CarrieRN2006's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Petunia you probably meant well, but you really need to be banded before you can understand the struggles that go along with this journey. Advice like "put your girl panties on" won't get received very well especially by a poster that is asking for support. -
numbness around port

I too am still numb from a prior surgery back in January of....08 or 09.... -
Losing more than 100lbs Unlikely??
mattie7632 replied to Justin B.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure it's very possible. I know a few people who are down over 100 pounds with LB. Keeping it off is probably the real question here! I'm sure many people eventually lapse back into bad habits and up goes the scale again..... -
I ditto that!!! Basic spelling and math are essential, and nothing makes you look more like an idiot that spelling and grammar errors. Oh yeah, while we're at it ALL CAPS is not cool either. It is not easy on the eyes, contrary to some people's thought process.

How to Reduce Post-Banding Flatulence?

Showering after Tummy tuck or Body Lift
mattie7632 replied to rosstheboss's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I bathed instead of showered and did not get the incisions wet until the surface wound was healed. Or I took a shower quickly making sure the Water wasn't directed to my stomach. This is pretty brutal surgery and you definitely won't be interested in standing in a shower while drains are hanging out of you anway!! But it will be SO WORTH IT! -
How quickly were you up and about?
mattie7632 replied to brookster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That does not sound reasonable to me. While she probably won't have to be popping pain meds at that point, I was too sore to even drive for about a week. -
Had my panniculectomy yesterday
mattie7632 replied to btrieger's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
NOW the real work begins!!! I quit cold turkey 4.5 years ago. It only takes a few weeks for the behavior modification, ie not smoking after you eat, while driving, w/coffee, etc. or whenever you most smoked. You got through the liquid diet right?? You can do this too!!! p.s. I too had the abdominal procedure....one of the best things I ever did -
Documented bmi for the last 2 years....Aetna insurance

Yeah, isn't that the truth!!! -
Documented bmi for the last 2 years....Aetna insurance
mattie7632 replied to AbbieRoad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, you typed "presence of severe obesity that has persisted FOR AT LEAST two years, documented in......." So, I would say yes, based on that -
you got it!

Okay, I see the code there, I would double check it and see if you missed a character at the end, it's like it didn't close the coding..... OR it is saved as the wrong type...maybe try to change it to the other one...?

LOL, yeah that stupid ticker thing is tricky. It;s www.tickerfactory.com. When you've selected your favorite ticker, you have to save it one of two ways, you should pick the one for blogs, etc. Sorry I forget the exact name of it. Then in lapband.talk, in your profile you copy that whole string of code into your signature. Hope that helps---
