  1. Yeah I agree with her - it's not so fun. You will be hungry most likely, a couple of the days I was really in physical pain from the hunger. But that too shall pass, and you will probably lose a good amount of weight those weeks!

    Not losing

I just wanted to say there are a lot of nice responses here! Even though this wasn't my post, I found them helpful too! Sometimes people's responses are.....less than productive but this is a good thread. Thanks everyone for the good info that was also encouraging

    Getting back to cabbage meals!

That sounds delish! I'm such a bland boring cook, but I love cabbage. It's turned out to be a great low cal filler. I like the sound of the beef/bacon combo, think I'll try that! Wish me luck

    Why are men so stupid?

I'm married now.......but back in the day I had a handful of blind dates as well....you're right, it seems you're always set up with someone who ...yeah, someone you wouldn't date. You WILL find the right person....when the time is right! I was 32 when I met my husband and we married the day before I turned 33. No, don't call me old.....I plan on looking like Jennifer Lopez before long.....LMBO!

    Why are men so stupid?

Hey we all like hotties, right? But when it comes to love and marriage, it's not necessarily the hottie that wins!!

    Why are men so stupid?

!!! Am I surprised? No, but the thought is still shocking! An America full of lard. Scary.....

    I'm so Disgusted!!!

I don't think that many Americans understand that THIS is what they are inviting when they support health care reform. Once we understand how the industry works from the provider side we understand that in the long run, we are only hurting ourselves. I especially love the plans that have a copay that is higher than the allowed amount. So patient pays premium, patient pays higher co-pay, doctor gets paid copay only and has to eat the rest, doctor crams in more patients or trys not to schedule patients with your insurance, insurance company pays nothing on the claim, so just INSURANCE company wins!!! I have personally been told by doctors that "had they known" they wouldn't be practicing today and would have done something else. If ALL insurance carriers pay as badly as the described in this post....well then all of America is going to be "under-served" medically, as the County I live in already is for this very reason. But as someone already posted, it IS complicated and please don't jump on me to start a political war! I'm just stating what's happening in the industry as large insurance carriers prepare for the cost to cover all Americans, not saying one way or another my political beliefs! Thanks!
  8. So, I was just catching up on some bills and stuff tonight, and I have to say how horrible and mortified I am to see exactly how much my surgeon got paid. A mere $1,100 was allowed -- and my insurance paid 100%!! I feel so bad! Never, ever will I walk into his office and gripe if I have to pay for a fill or something. Insurance is such a discrace sometimes. People have no idea how their doctors get ripped off. They're not as rich as you think. After a surgeon pays malpractice, staff and overhead, there can't be much left to pay himself from a measly payment like that !!!! :(

    Raw food diet?

I will find this link one of my doctors sent me which explains it better and has good info, If I try I won't explain it right and end up under attack Simple answer though: Most of my doctors tell us to use almond, coconut or even soy milk instead and have us steer clear of Protein powders that are dairy based. Also something about not really getting the calcium believed to be the benefit of milk......My daughter was actually quite sick with respiratory issues until she was 4...when I decided enough is enough....stopped her meds and took away the milk--she was better in 48 hours. Has never gone back. My skin is better when I don't consume dairy.....but I'm not trying to tell you what to do! These are just my observations and what I've been told....Because we find my family is better without milk and dairy, I tend to think there is some truth in this.....Of course, we still eat eggs and some cheese but try to keep it limited, never drink milk....wow sorry that was long

    Oh Such Questions

Yeah exactly! If you don't throw it up, it's like stuck in your throat...but not really, and stuck in your chest...but not really. All I know is you have to get it out!!!

    Raw food diet?

I'm not sure this is a great idea for a long-term diet plan, and dairy is very bad for you But awesome if it's doing the job for you now!
  12. I am perfect because I run 10 miles every morning, do not exceed 3 calories a day, and drink 6 gallons of water daily. Oh yeah, and the lapband is just a ........................tool. baa haaa haaa haaa haa!!!. If you believe this you are delirious from hunger.

    Raw food diet?

Sounds like a whole foods diet, does this include raw meat also???

    I'm so Disgusted!!!

Nope, no error. I own a medical billing service and I read them suckers all day long.....it was horribly right. They did however, mess up and pay the hospital $19,600 when they only allowed $5,600 or so......
  15. mattie7632

    I'm so Disgusted!!!

Well good thing they don't all pay as terrible as mine did. But I still feel like a cheap-o now, as if I walk in there I have "cheap insurance" written all over my forehead or a "we don't make any money off her" sash....LOL

    I'm so Disgusted!!!

FIFTY? That doesn't sound right for a lapband....

    NOT WORKING!

LOL all this talk of carbs is making me want food....wait is it stomach hunger or head hunger....head I guess, darn
  18. mattie7632

    NOT WORKING!

You felt like an addict because you ARE an unknowing addict as most of us are!!! The chemicals and additives in processed food and many carbohydrates ARE ADDICTIVE and this is a contributing factor to obesity. Google it for some interesting reading. A group of doctors I work with regularly detox by fasting, etc. to do what your body is going through now. Basically, it's WITHDRAWAL!!! And I feel for you, it is tough. Once you have a lot less in your system you will feel a lot better!!

    Not losing

I have found that I do best when I eat 5-6 times a day vs. 3 meals only. Plus I have to get enough calories in. This is really hard for me to follow so I end up failing most days and haven't lost anything in almost a month. I just know if I can eat 200 calories 6 times a day for---EVER? I will lose........discipline. It's the hardest thing for me........
  20. I just can't wrap my brain around the idea that we can be successfully hypnotized. I'd really like someone to hypnotize me so I can find out! My chiropractor says she does an acupuncture technique for weight loss too, I never stuck with it long enough to find out though!! hmmmm, kind of like my diets.....
  21. mattie7632

    I am Perfect

Yes you are! Anybody who's lost that much weight is alright in my book Speaking of perfect, I keep telling my husband that I am, I'm not sure he's understanding.......LOL
  22. mattie7632

    incontinence?

Wow, now that you mention it I think I actually did NOT make it to the restroom one time, and the others were close calls! After that crazy diarrhea passed, I got constipated. And after about a month or so I was finally back to normal.
  23. mattie7632

    NOT WORKING!

After being banded, I stopped consuming sugary drinks, basically no sugar but do use sweetener. I was recently told by one of my doctors that ultimately, from using sweetener your body will start to forget how to convert REAL sugars into energy, causing our bodies to hold onto fat again. So....I don't know what to say. It kind of makes sense though, I mean for any of you taking Synthroid for thyroid disorders....eventually your thyroid will stop working entirely and you will be 100% dependent on the synthetic hormone for life. Sorry if this is off topic, but ElfiePoo said something about sugars and it reminded me of this .......

    It's a Tool

Okay that just tickled me and I can't stop cracking up now. "Remember your band is just an instrument and you have to work your instrument"
  25. Wow that's scary! Really glad you are okay. It does have me thinking now back to the times I've sensed a brief short-lived pain right around my heart---and dismiss it as nothing. But I did have a normal EKG in December......do you suppose new heart problems could present in such a short time?
