Right! How do they say....never under-estimate the power of a kind word? It matters what we say and do, it really does--

Torn between LB and Gastric bypass
mattie7632 replied to erink58's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's not my place to tell anyone what to do, but let me tell you that I am 5 feet and 1/2 inch if I'm lucky and I started at 213 pounds, doctor said my ideal weight was 105 which is 108 pounds to lose. I had lapband and would never do the bypass due to it's so invasive and the potential complications. A friend started at around 350 lbs is now a size 11-12 after 2 years. Now I don't know how her journey went, but she obviously did fine Good Luck! -
Okay, no restriction = no weight loss. Haven't really lost any weight and I've also not been eating cabbage with meat sauces for most meals lately! So guess what, tomorrow I'm cooking up another batch of cabbage, (with alfredo & spicy lean meat & turkey sausage sauce--YUM) and seeing if I can't lose some more weight on my own then!

I don't know about your pets, but mine have selective hearing. They could be in a sound proof panic room but if someone slowly tiptoed to the pet pantry....they'd hear it from the next state over. On the other hand, if you call them because you want them to go outside or something, they'll decide if they can hear you or not. Kind of like husbands.

That sounds really good roasted! I still have that head of cabbage...did you ever notice that cabbage lasts forever uncooked??? Well, I fell off the cabbage wagon and had spinach tonight. ...oops. LOL

Pretend I clicked on the LIKE button.

I know it sounds crazy, who'd have thought-cabbage? My friend is skinny so she tells me a lot of her low cal tips now that I feel like listening!

What in the world? Got my first fill early Feb, felt restricted for a a couple weeks, then it was gone, POOF! Felt like I could eat anything and everything. Now, since yesterday I am suddenly restricted again. How weird is that? I feel like this band is like my back door, it swells up and gets stuck in humid weather, but contracts when it's cold.!!! LOL

Suddenly Restriction!
mattie7632 replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't like the word restriction either, just like I don't like tool. I don't know what else to call it .....how bout "prevention" I have prevention from gorging today. LOL -
That's hilarious.

HEARTBURN? Anyone else have this problem?
mattie7632 replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know.......if you drink a teaspoon of vinegar it is supposed to restore the proper acid balance to your stomach and cure heartburn......Think of it like a shot of tequila....and follow it with a sip of tomato juice to kill the taste in your mouth!!! Also, my doctor has said to watch heartburn as it could be a sign of being filled too much, but since you had it before the band I would personally try the vinegar first -
Melody, I agree and think the carb thing is true for all of us, but most just don't realize. Perhaps this is why our doctors tell us Protein shakes, eat protein first, because they know it will take the protein to kill the cravings

I think the lapband is COMPLETELY misrepresented, starting with the commercial. I most certainly did not learn the real facts about it from the doctors! Not even close! If my band never does more for me than it is currently, I also would say it's "NOT WORKING", because it's definitely not doing what $20k TOOL is advertised to do. I am doing the work and I have absolute and complete control over my results. I would also like to point out something that recently came to the forefront of my mind, about why we have to do a lot of the work, because this is misunderstood, myself included at first-- People lose weight differently. My husband, for example, can drop carbs and lose 20# in a month. Me, I have to rev up my metabolism and eat 5-6 small meals a day to lose ....and maybe Judy has to exercise more or Jane has to "eat right for her body type", etc, to get the fat burning process started. True, the lapband alone probably will cause us to lose some weight, but for many of us that isn't enough to lose a ton. I think if we realize that the goal is to firestart fat burning, we might then see the band for what it really is.

Will they let me get the lap band
mattie7632 replied to hopetolose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm betting you will have no problem finding a surgeon to do the surgery for cash, even with a 35.x BMI -
Tighter during your monthly?
mattie7632 replied to Swan56's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well.....for me I think during TOM I was not tight at all!! Then the day after....marked difference in tightness, much more tight. Very weird. -
Protein Shakes, whats the best one out there
mattie7632 replied to NicVio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like Pure Protein Cookies N Creme. Get them at Target. I don't care for Muscle Milk or most others actually -
Suddenly Restriction!

That's so strange.....but kinda cool too! -
Get this thing out of me
mattie7632 replied to Sarah C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sometimes feel weird about having a foreign object in me so I kinda get that feeling of just wanting it out! I feel bad that it didn't work out for you because I'm sure this is not what you hoped for back in 2007 when you had it done -
That is awesome advice. A great Southern Belle knows just how to tell someone to kiss her a$$ without them even knowing it!

Can "Stuck" occur at any fill level?
mattie7632 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Question on getting stuck: Does this or can this occur if you are not fully restricted or at sweet spot yet? Because this happens to me occasionally but I don't feel that I'm near optimal fill level yet. Thanks guys -
You're 2 months and 20 pounds ahead of me. I will be THRILLED if I've lost another 20 lbs by the time I'm 5 months out. I am only losing a few pounds a month, I wish it was faster but considering I have a hard time drinking my water and don't exercise much, it's okay. I think you've done GREAT. Tell the BF to clamp it. That's what I tell my husband if he even STARTS to look or open his mouth about what I'm going to eat. LOL
-
Thanks it sounds great! I have a head of cabbage in the fridge that needs a recipe

As I sit here eating a piece of chicken, I am laughing that you somehow misconstrued this post to mean I am on a cabbage diet. Whatever!

Anyone using Nutrisysems for post-op weight loss
mattie7632 replied to stratcat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I gotta agree, Nutri system is not very good! I purchased it on auto ship/pay and after spending about $800 bucks I realized OMG, This is so nasty so I sold it to someone for $100--she probably didn't eat it either! I get Michelina's Lean Gourmets....or Green Giant boxes of veges....much much cheaper , easier and tastes better! A great lunch that's portion controlled....but Nutri System....Never again!!! -
What?!?!?!?! You don't want to get me started..........LOL
