    New here

Having my surgery in Tijuana April 6. Wife had hers done there in Nov. She paid $8000 and I'm paying $7500 because of 2nd surgery. I've seen it for cheaper and they are probably good but I know you could not ask for a better clinic. Our Doctor is Dr. Ortiz at the Obeciety Control Center. Dr. Dewitt in Birmingham is doing my wifes fills and I will use him also. My wife said Dr. Dewitt told her he did the surgery for $11,500. She was really pleased with him. PM me if you would like more info on Mexico. We would be glad to help. Best of luck.

Dr. Miles or Dr. Schmitt patients

Kanning, the Anniston meeting was pretty fun. Would have been more fun if we could have met some of the people from this forum. Maybe next time. I learned things to look for on labels of food. The bad thing i learned is that the foods i like to eat the most are the foods i don't need to be eating. One of the people running the group class wants everybody to keep a journal of your weight and food intake. He also talked about getting other people to come and talk and getting up a get together at Oxford Lake on a Saturday for a walk around the lake. I think me and my wife were the only lapband people there the others were gastric bypass patients. But over all it was fun and planning on going next month. Sorry your sick.

The chocolate bars are good also. They have 130 calories, 10 grams of fiber (35% of daily value), 4 Protein. The best thing $2 A box.

Been holding my own for a bout 3 weeks now and I'm getting ready to get tougher on myself. Need the group help after banded. Good luck to all and I believe were all winners!!

  15. Hi, you asked how i lost 40 pounds, I upped my protein and fiber intake. Has been pretty easy for me because I love tuna wraps. My wife including preop has lost about 50 pounds total. she has went from a 22-24 to a size 16. Her weght loss is at a stand still for now but she looks and feels great. She tells me it's an amazing feeling to be full without eating the kitchen. Everyone is different, just hang in there your day will come. I believe I probabally would gain in Iraq because of the stress level.Keep us posted on your progress.

  16. Hi, noticed your ticker. The pounds keep rolling off. Keep up the good work.

    Liquid Diet

My doctor wants me to loose 5 percent of my weight. When my wife had the band installed in Nov. 08, I had the doctor weigh me. I weighed 340. I decided then to start a diet. I'm having surgery April 6 09, and I wegh 302 with over 2 months left before surgery. Should I do the strict liquid diet or should I keep doing what I'm doing? I have already lost about 11 percent of my weight.
  18. Ladyjp, Sorry if I missled you. I don't have a fill yet because I haven't got the band yet. I get the band April 6. in Mexico. On the other hand My wife had her fill about 2 weeks ago and even though a bite here and there might get a little stuck, she said it is still the best thing in the world to be really full. Have you tried to take in more protein and fiber? I know it seems like men loose faster (I here that all the time from my wife) but her weight loss increased when she upped hers as well. I have slowly turned my food addiction to the LBT addiction. I am so amazed at the success pictures of the before and after. I think that inspires me as much as anything because I know we're the next to succeed. Keep me posted on your loss because we all need each others support.

    April Bandster

Getting banded 4/6/09 in mexico. Getting ready for the journey.
  20. Ladyjp, Welcome to the forum. I haven't had surgery yet either. My wife had hers 11-20-08. Mine is scheduled for 4-6-09. I got the nurse to weigh me when wife went so started ticker then. It's amazing that high protein and high fiber and low carbs really works for me. Icall it my pre-op pre-op since it will be 5 months. Started out 342 weighed this morning 301.4. Can't wait to be under 300 again. I want to be under 290 by April but I think I've done great concidering Thanksgiving and Christmas. As people has posted, My knees and ankles thank me everyday. Good look on your journey and looking forward to seeing your success.

    Weight gain and frustarted

Elsid, nobody has all the answers. They are more than one way to get from point A to point B. It sure is faster to gain than to loose. The main thing is your headed in the right direction. Everyone is made differently. If you feel you need to go on liquids go on liquids. Just for thought, have you concidered half liquids and half foods? Anyway keep up the good work and I'll be looking forward to the next post that says you've lost the 12 pds and more on top of that. Florida Pete keep up the good work your doing great.:thumbup::w00t::thumbup:
  22. My wife was also banded by by Ortiz in Nov. and I will go April 6, 2009. Great facility and great care while there. Everyboby was very friendly and there website speeks for itself. I believe the other places are probably as good and some are even cheaper. We just liked them the best.
  23. Our insurance would not pay for our surgeries because we have no justifiable medical conditions other than being way overweight. My wife did a lot of research and we both could go to Mexico for the price of one in the U.S. She found Dr. Ortiz at the OCC in Tijuana ,Mexico. He has even trained some U.S. doctors,(that's what I was told). With plane tickets both were about $18,000 dollars. I'm going April 6,2009. Wish me luck. The doctor has been on The Oprah Show and has also wrote a lapband book. I hope this answered your question.

I've got to ask this ...

Giving up great food is hard. REALLY REALLY HARD When your a professional eater like I am. Seriously, Me and my wife combined spent too much money on 2 surgeries to let food get in the way of a better life. We've lost about 35 pounds each since NOV. 20. The longer it goes, the less addicted to food I am. Now I'm getting addicted to this website. Thanks to all!!!
