  1. Great! I am getting ready too. I am nervous but ready. What time is your surgery. I go at 10:30 surgery at 12:30. I have already had my pre op and other visits. I had to an EKG at the hospital which was abnormal so I went to see a Cardiologist just to on the safe side. Just one more thing to worry about. I can't wait to lose so I can shop for smaller clothes. YA Ya. Keep in touch.

  2. OK...my banding is scheduled for TOMORROW morning (Wednesday 1/14) and I'm getting a little nervous, so I thought I'd start this post to remind me why I'm doing this....

    I want to...

    1. play with my 6 year old daughter and not get tired.

    2. take my daughter to amusement parks without fear that I can't go on rides with her because I can't fit.

    3. be able to sleep at night because I don't have sleep apnea

    4. shop in regular stores for regular clothes

    5. not have to worry that people are only seeing my fat, not me.

    6. be able to have relations with my husband again.

    7. be able to bend over to release the emergency brake in my car.

    8. shave my legs without doing some ungodly contortionist act.

    9. wear a bathing suit at the beach or Water park without fear of someone seeing me.

    10. always being the "quiet one" so no one will pay attention to me.

    11. be IN the family pictures instead of always being the one to take them.

    12. sit in a chair without wondering if it will hold me or not.

    13. be able to sit in a restaurant booth comfortably.

    14. have more energy to clean the house.

    15. wear cute shoes and not have them kill my feet.

    16. be able to look at myself naked in the mirror without feeling ashamed...

I'm sure the list could go on and on, but this has helped me. Thanks for bearing with me.

Thanks for sharing and good luck tomorrow. I had a bad doing my pre op so your list sure brought me around to why I am doing this too. I think I will start my list and borrow some of yours because they fit me too.

  3. Hi all,

My name is Melissa, I was banded on 1/9. I am doing well, still sore at my port incision, but overall doing well. Looking forward to this journey. I had a little "buyers remorse" on fri and sat in the hospital and as I was trying to get myself up and down my stairs, but got over that - and now "my head is in the game."

was happy to get in 56 gms of protien today - well, I'm working on a shake right now that will put me at that. I look forward to getting to know everyone

Melissa, Nice to here from you. glad your surgery went well. I have two weeks and I will have my surgery. I don't know if you have heard about making ice cubes out of milk and Protein powder. Mix your Protein Powder and milk and put it in ice trays and freeze. When you make your shakes in a blender this adds more Protein to your day.

  4. Jan 27 here!!!!!! Yahoo!!!! I went today for preop visit with doctor and hospital. Trying to do this pre op diet. I hope the rest goes better than today. I am feeling

WAY down today. When I got to the hospital I had to get an EKG and it was abnormal but when compared to an old one the doctor did clear me for surgery. But I am still worried about the EKG. I called my primary doctor for another opinion. Anyone had this to happen? I am scared to death that something is going to go wrong.

  5. I just received the news that my insurance approved my surgery. I will be banded Jan 27th. Yeah!!! I was really worried because I gained weight over the holidays (7lbs). My dietician said that I could have jepordized everything but I guess it was okay.

Great, I am the 27th also. I am so excited about getting this done. I love this site, too. It has really been helpful being able to talk with other like us. Please keep in contact with me so we can talk about the up's and down's,

So how long is you preop diet. I just have to do know fried food, sugars, sodas, Pasta, potatos, rice, white breads.

I have started with Protein shakes already so I can maybe drop a few pounds.

  6. What brand of Vitamins are you guys buying? I just had surgery and know my nutritionist suggested Nature Made after I heal but man these suckers look huge. Before the surgery, they also seemed to upset my stomach if taken when I hadn't eaten anything. I'd like to get a high potency multi Vitamin, is there a good chewable vitamin out there for adults that will give us everything we need and then some? Chewable or not I want the best vitamin I can get that will be easy to swallow and digest.

    Any suggestions?

Hey, My doctor told me to get something that is close to Centrum. I then went to my supplement store and ask for that. They are Cherry flavor.

  8. My doctor does not require you stay overnight but it does depend on the time of day that you have it. My surgery will be at 12:00 and after the upper GI I should be home around 6pm.

If I could lose 10% I probably would not be doing this either. But I always gain it back.

If is a good idea to visit other clinics.

  9. Hi everyone! Guess I'm coming in close too. I'm being banded on the 27 in Cornell Hospital in NY by Dr Pomp. I can hardly wait! I only need to do 2 days of liquid diet, but was advised to lose some weight before surgery by doing some exercise and some lifestyle changes (practice, you know!) anyway, I did lots of reading both books and online and feel sort of ready though I still need to purchase my Protein Shakes and chewable vitamins and stuff. good luck to all and see you around on lbt!

Hey, I am also the 27th. I can't wait. I just finished watching a 30 minute video on the surgery. Now I am getting worried. When you are getting you stuff together don't forget the GASX Strips. I have heard they work great. Keep in touch. I tried to start my diet yesterday and then fell off the wagon last night.

  10. Hi Ladies!

Good to see there are a few of us sneaking in before the end of Jan!

I have a full day of appointments on the 16th of Jan. I have a three hour flight to where I am having the surgery done (I live in the middle of nowhere!) so they do it all on the one day. I have to start Optifast on the 15th and then fly back down again on the 28th to have surgery!

I am having it done in Brisbane, Queensland at the Wesley hospital.

    What is Optifast?

  11. CarolinaMom, let us know OK?

My surgery is tomorrow and I'm just busting with excitement. They'll have to give me extra anesthesia to keep me from jumping up and down! I have lost 60+ lbs 3 times and always gain it back. This time will be different!! I know I can lose the weight, now I will be able to keep it off and even continue to lose beyond the 60 and maybe even drop 115!!! wow, I'm so excited right now I better go running or something.

I just got my date. January 27. I am so excited. I understand about the extra anesthesia. I probably with have some extra also.

  12. Girl, You are so right!!!!!!!!!!!! I just had my last fried food and mac and cheese. This is going to be so hard. We both maybe in the headlines for something if we don't get some help from these guys. I am starting my liquid diet tomorrow so I can shrink my liver and what ever else needs to do the shrinking thing. I am also trying to make a list of things to have on hand for surgery and after surgery.
