  1. This is my list and when I take them. Don't know if this helps at all.

    1. Multi-Vit, gummies - 2, twice a day, AM before Breakfast and mid afternoon

    2. Immune C, gummies - 2, twice a day (during cold/flu season), with the multi

    3. Biotin, lozenge - 1, twice a day, with the multi

    4. Calcium w/D, chew - 1, twice a day, with the multi

    5. Acidophilus, itty bitty pills - 1, twice a day (during cold/flu season, otherwise just 1 in the AM), with the multi

    6. B Complex w/sublingual 12, liquid - 1 dropper, once a day, with the multi

    7. Omega 3, liquid - 1tsp, twice a day, with the multi

    8. Blood Pressure, pill - 1, once a day, with the multi

    9. Iron, liquid - 2tsp, twice a day, once before lunch and once before dinner, ALWAYS 2hrs from the Calcium chew

Because everything except the BP med and the Acidophilus are in liquid or chewable form, I have no problem with this. Sometimes my problem stems from a scheduling thing and making sure the Iron and the calcium aren't too close together.

Sometimes if I'm gone in the afternoon, but home for dinner, I'll take the iron like normal, then 2hrs later will take the afternoon dose. OR if not home til after dinner, take the afternoon dose as soon as I get home, then take the iron before bed, making sure again about the 2hrs.

If I know I'm going to get home REALLY late, I'll take the afternoon stuff with me, foregoing the acidophilus and Omega b/c they have to stay refrigerated (as does the iron). I'll still take the iron before bed but I won't have missed the afternoon dose of the most important stuff.

I haven't traveled yet, other than to my mom's, so I'm not sure how to handle that other than maybe taking a small ice chest to keep the cold stuff in.

Once you get a routine, it helps. I'm way better about taking my stuff now then I was before surgery!

Sorry this is so long, hope it helps, at least a little. Take care.

Thanks for the info.I will have to work on this today

since I was just banded on Tuesday. I have BP, thyroid, etc. to take also.

  2. I just wanted to share what I've been doing to get my Vitamins. I hate the chewables and although the small mulitvitamin pill might be small enough to get down, it does not have enough calcium...

So I have been using the Viactiv chews; they have chews for Multivitamins and for Calcium. They taste delicious, and not too many calories each (maybe 20 calories each?). I basically bite off a small piece of the square and suck on it untill it is dissolved. (I take a small enough piece in each bite so that if I accidentally swallowed it, I could probably dissolve it with hot tea.) I also find this helps with my Water drinking, since it is very satisfying to sip Water after each small bite of the viactiv. I take one multivit and two calciums each day. Because I do it so slowly, those three items plus a large glass of water gets me through several hours of work in the afternoon! The only thing I notice is that the viactiv is somewhat low on Vitamin A (I think that Vitamin is hard to get in a pill), so I also try to concentrate on carrots and spinach when I eat my veggies.

    Good luck to all!

I was banded yesterday. And I am sitting here now trying to figure these Vitamins out. I am not sure how to get all in in one day. I am taking the chewables. But I am worried about putting too much in my new stomach.

  3. I was banded yesterday morning by Dr. Kirschenbaum in Colorado. It was a great experience for me. I was totally nervous because I had never had surgery before. The staff was awesome and helped me through my anxiety. I feel some pain but nothing unbearable and I am so excited to start my new life. Anyone else banded yesterday???

I was banded yesterday also. I great experience in the hospital. I am sore today but I am up moving around trying to get rid of this gas pain. How much can you drink at one time? I can hold 2oz. like the doctor said but sometimes I stop earlier. Keep in touch.

  4. Lena, you are doing great. I am up for the band on 27th. I worry about the gas because when I had my gallbladder out I thought I was going to die with my shoulders hurting so. I have all my supplies ready. I just have one more day of waiting. I hope I am ready for this.

  5. Hi Ms Kelly -- I agree, this site is a god-send. I've learned so much from reading posts here. How are you doing with your pre-surgery diet? I'm doing great -- I'm so ready for this, nothing is bothering me. I went to the dr. today for my final check up before surgery and learned I lost eight pounds since starting it on the 20th. So that is great. I'm logging all my food onto myplate.com which I really like because all the word is done for you there. Good luck on Tuesday - be sure to let us know how you're doing after surgery.

What is the website for my plate.com. ? I put it in but a bunch other stuff come up.

    Thansk

  6. It is almost time! Can you believe it? We have almost made to that magic day. I cannot wait. I went to a store yesterday that is going out of business. I had a great time looking at the smaller clothes. I am ready to buy some small stuff. My husband while I was shopping and said what are you doing. He was worried I had been gone so long. I told him I had bought a me a small shirt. He thought you are crazy but I can't wait to proof I can do this.

Small size did sound funny when I usually get xlarge or xxlarge sizes. I just hope to get off some meds and feel better about my self. Good Luck everyone. Here I come January 27.

  7. wow, i'm so envious of all of you. I've been on my pre-op for a couple weeks and i've only lost 6lbs. I've got PCOS and a thyroid problem, so no doubt that's playing a role. still got a month to go, so hopefully i'll lose what i need to.

I am with you I lose some and then today I got on the scales and gained two pounds.::thumbup: I am not sure what I am doing wrong here. Any advice? I also have a thyroid problem.

  8. I am so confused with the Protein Shake post op. What do we mix it with? Water or skim milk or some of your food? My doctor recommends the Unjury brand. and they have an unflavored one I thought i might put into yogurt or Jello. Then can i get get the strawberry one and mix it with skim milk to make like a strawberry milk?

I use the EAS Protein powder vanilla. That way you can make whatever other flavors you want to with it. I have used pineapple, strawberries, chocolate Syrup, yogurt, sugar free ice cream. I do you use milk because that adds more protein to your diet. I did not like the smell of the Unjury. I also use G2 Gatorade to help with other liquids. There is a post under nutrition that has recipes for different Protein Drinks. Hope this helps

  9. I am really working hard to get all my ducks in a row for an approval in May. I am counting on approval based on medical necessity due to co-morbidities. I take medication daily for diabetes type II, hypertension and high cholesterol. All is controlled and stable with meds. I have also just begun seeing a podiatrist for bone spurs, they are now giving me orthotics and I have a sleep brace. I am also now seeing a gastroentrologist for GERD. This just developed three weeks ago and I had an endoscopy today. I was thinking it would be in my interest to have both of these drs (pod & gastro) also write a note on my behalf to support medical necessity. They may not be co-morbidities but these new medical issues would be greatly helped by weight loss. Has anyone else been this route?

Hey, I called my insurance first thing to find out what they required. They are there to help you. I think you are on the right track. I have arthritis, fibromyalgia, hypertension, sleep apnea, and after my pre op visit I now have a heart condition that I have to worry about. Call and see what they say your could be spend out when it is not needed.

    Good Luck!!!
