    Food journal, or diary..

    I'm a "Realizer" so I use their website. But when I run across something that's not in there I go to Daily Plate I can always find it there....then I add to my own personal diary for future use. I started logging during the 6mnth diet period....I found it made me much more accountable when I had to log what I put in my mouth.

    Word of warning Don....iron supplements can cause constipation. You might wanna ask the Dr if there is anything you can take to help keep the pipes in good working order. Keep doing what you do....you are making great progress!
  4. Congrats Peas!!! You are doing Fabulous!!! I'm hoping that by my stomach shrinking it's going to give me the illusion of bigger boobs...LOL I wonder which you will remember more....how bad you felt the day you could no longer wear those pants...or how AWESOME you felt the day you put them back on....oh wait I know....it's going to be the day they are TOO BIG!!!

    Funny how our heads like to play those games with us isn't it Papa...lol I understand where you are coming from, but at the same time you have to realize our weight fluctates *sp every day, I don't know the # for men but they say for women as much as 8lbs..... You know you know how to eat right otherwise you wouldn't have had the success you have had to date. I think the hardest thing for all of us to do is learn to TRUST OURSELVES, trust that you are making wise food choices excersising portion control and remaining physically active. If you are doing all those things I truly doubt 5lbs of fat is going to sneak up on you, but it's not unheard of for 5lbs of Fluid to sneak up on you, and you shouldn't be beating yourself up for things beyond your control. We are all here to cheer you on!!

    Realize band..

    I lost 24lbs during my insurance mandated 6mnth Dr supervised diet. I'm down about 13lbs and today is day 21 for me....so While I'm not dropping 20-30lbs like some ppl I'm happy with my results. I would rather be a little slower so that my body has a chance to keep up (or atleast that is what I'm hoping for).

    What's the point?

    We live in a world that wants a quick fix and and easy answer for EVERYTHING....we all want to have everything thing we want, give up nothing, and look and feel fantastic. Well guess what....that only happens in fairy tails and in the movies...here in real life we have to work to make things happen, the band is no exception to that. If there were a magic pill we could take that would let us eat any and everything we wanted and never gain an ounce then we would all look like runway models. It has been said over and over THE BAND IS A TOOL....and like any other tool it requires an operator to make it work. Good luck in your decision making process, in the end only you can decide what is best for you.

    Bambam....I'm sooo happy to hear that something I said stuck a cord. I was also jumping on the scale every day atleast once.....Always a little disappointed that it was moving down everytime I got on. I think we should pick a day and weigh and then not touch the scales the rest of the week!! We all made this decision to CHANGE OUR LIVES.....so I say lets do it...lets stop being so obsessed, yes be conscious and vigilant about what we are eating, but not to the point of obsession. This is supposed to be our chance at freedom....lets not let it slip through our fingers....going from being unhappy about being fat to unhappy about not losing weight fast enough....faster is not always better, and there are folks here that can atest to that. So when't our weigh-in day....we'll start a thread for all the other obsessors that deserve some freedom from the scales....lol
  10. Congrats on the 20lbs..that's no small task. Like you I also found a few pounds when I got to start eating mushies, but the good news is your bodies is going to adjust, you won't hold onto them for long. I think everyone here can relate to the fight, we are all battling the same or very similar demons. I'm sorry you feel like some people are harsh in their comments, personally I haven't really felt that way. I think when folks post about their failures they want to here reinforcment that they can do this. Some will reply with it's ok just don't do it again, and others will gentally remind you that this is a life changing experience (I guess I look at it kinda like tough love). I believe we all want to succeed, and want everyone around us to succeed too. Best of luck, I know you will come out the winner in your fight!!
  11. CONGRATS Rdy!!!! You are doing FABULOUS...I hope you have a wonderful getway...keep in mind I hear others say sometimes flying tends to make them a little tight (from the added pressure I think). Keep up the great work!!

    Papa.....hide your scale of throw it out if you have to. Make a commitment to yourself to not get on the scale more then once a week....pick a day to weigh in...and then stay away from the scale the rest of the time. You deserve to ENJOY your life, not spend it obbsessing (sp)about your weight either being fat or losing weight. Your doing GREAT!!!! Now go out and enjoy your success!!!

    question about diet?

    Your body is healing. The want your stomach to rest and if your putting solid foods into your stomach then stomach muscle is going to have to work to move that food into your intestines. Some say that this COULD POSSIBLY contribute to slippage in the future. The best thing you can do for yourself is follow the Dr's instructions....it's only a few days out of the rest of your life....YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

    Breakfast

    Hey Amy....care to share your quiche recipe?? And I don't think u r crazy...quite a few days I had refried beans (low fat) and scrambled eggs...if u think about it that's on a breakfast taco...and in lots of mexican resturants.

    Not losing weight

    I would try and widdle down those carbs some if it were me, and what kind of foods are u getting your carbs from?? You might even wanna ck with the Dr and make sure your calories are too low (if your body thinkgs it's starving it's not gonna let go of the weight).

    My Dr had both bands in his office for me to see the difference, hold and "play with" I found it really nice to be able to hold the band in my own hand and know what was going in my body. Yes Realize is wider and also not as rigid as the lap-band band that I saw. I am very comfortable with my decision.

    I don't skip, for me that's just too long to go without food. I'm in the mushy stage right now these are things I eat: scrambled eggs (I use 1 egg + all whites) malt-o-meal oatmeal cottage cheese egg salad Try to make sure you are getting some protien with every meal. Good luck on your band journey!

    How do I strech 3-4 oz of food to an hour?

    I too was told it should take about 30mins to eat.... I also use baby silverware...put it down between every bite...and try to make sure your mouth is empty before adding any more to it. I'll admit I've always been a slower eater so this part hasn't been so hard for me....now my problem in the past....I'm a grazer, it's hard to walk away and not have "just one more bite" but I've done really well so far.

    Sugar free snacks????

    I would be very careful with the sweets. Eating sugars and lots of carbs triggers your cravings and makes you want more and more. Also keep in mind you don't want to be eating alotta artifical sweetners and whatnot....I dont' care what they say I don't think any of that can really be good for us.

    Banded 3/26/09 in KY

    Hi Sue...Welcome to LBT I was alson banded 3/26/09 in Houston....I don't know what your post-op meal plan is like....Friday I get to start reintroducing solids into my eating. I think I have eaten more fish in the last 2wks then I have in my entire life!!! Other then some lingering tenderness around my port I am feeling great....finally starting to get my butt moving some in the exercise realm. I'm planning to go back to a South Beach diet lifestyle (I've had great results with that in the past) and hoping that with that and regular exercise I'm gonna see the kinda of results that we all dream about at night...lol Best of luck to you, I'm hear if you need someone to talk to on your journey.

    Easter candy got me!! UGH!!

    Say to yourself....Easter is over and I indulged a little, but now I am getting back on track. It's not the end of the world, heck jellybeans are fat free (but no don't start eating them all the time!!) I gave into the candy temptations myself just this afternoon.....I ate a (only 1) Reese's Peanutbutter Cup....I sat it down on my desk and gave myself about 30mins to decide if I REALLY wanted it....well I did!! I looked up all the nut. info and added it to my daily intake....it was 88 cals...and I called it my afternoon snack....even with the Reese's I'm under 600 cals so far for the day....but trust me.....I WILL NOT be eating one again anytime soon!!! (that is a once in a while treat, not an everyday indulgance)
  24. Viv, We would love to hear about your long term success. I think so many ppl that post are band youngsters. It would be great to hear how you have learned to live with your band and what kind of results you achieved.
