I like you don't do confrontation, my suggestion is if the manager is already aware of the situation then I would request a meeting between the three of you. Let the manager let her know that this is a private health matter and if you wanted it to be public knowldege then you would be the one to share it. As managment I think it is your managers responsibility to nip this in the butt before it gets outta hand. While in your meeting with the co-worker let her know that this is a very personal decision and you would appreciate her respecting your right to keep in private. Regardless of how things turn out you need to remember this. This is something that you are doing for YOURSELF, what other people thing is of no importance. There will always be people who are going to find any reason they can to make you feel bad about yourself becasue it makes them feel better about themselves. Good luck to you!!!

Congrats & Welcome to LBT!!! I was also banded 3/26/09 in Houston. Today is day 6...and while i don't feel so great I know this was the best thing I could do for myself, Friday I get to move to mushies and I'm soo excited!! I hope that things go great for you....keep in touch and let us see your progress!!

OK...so it's day 6 and I fell like CRAP!!! I don't know if I ate too much (ate ha ha, that would be drank), too fast, or shoulda walked more last night but last night and today I'm feeling the gas pain.....it's like having a gallbladder attach minus the stabbing pain...gas-x doesn't seem to be doing much, right now my torso feels like a barrel, it hurst all the way to my back...ugh This too I know shall pass....oh yeah and I wanna EAT!!! I am supposed to be full liquids for 7 days then on to mushies, and my Dr isn't a fan of protien drinks....I am reading about ppl who are eating soft foods a few days outta surgery and I'm so jeleous, shame on me! Thank God I can move on to mushies Friday....Friday can't get here soon enough for me!!!! OK, no more whining for me, promise

Congratulations on your success!! I think we all need to hear more stories like yours...to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Good luck and much continued success!!

I was banded 3/26/09 back to work today 3/30/09. But I'll tell you this....I have a desk job that is not the least bit strenuous *sp AND I'm also a quick healer it's 4:25 pm and I've been here since 7:15 am, I'm ready to go home, but all in all it wasn't tood bad (I even walked during my lunch about 15 mins) Good luck to ya....go at your own pace!!

I'm sorry to hear about all your surgery delays. I understand how frusterating it can be to be left hanging. I hope that they get a space cleared for you ASAP, good luck and try to be patient (like that's what you really wanna hear right LOL)

That's fantastic WorkingMom!!!! Keep this pace up and you will have to tie yourself down the next time it's windy outside...lol Really it soulds like you are becoming active and healthy, that's great!!

Megster27...is was right there with u @ 5:30 yesterday morning, too bad my hospital was sooo screwed up!! I was really pleased the my Dr had scheduled me as his 1st surgery of the day...well the OR changed the schedule...then tried to blame it on the Dr's office...talk about drama!!! man was my hubby fit to be tied!!! But....I'm banded now left the hopsital around 3pm...bladder works GREAT out walking with the fur babies, and really NO gas pain to complain of....I hope you are feeling as good as am!!! Stareeide4u...CONGRATS TO US!!!! I hope everything went smoothly for you, keep in touch so we can all share our progress. Here's to healthier lives (and hopefully hotter bodies to go with it LOL)

Thank so sooo much Moondust....after a rocky start with the hospital everything went smoothly (just about 3 hrs behind schedule). So far, other then feeling like Mike Tyson's sparing partner and not being able to find anything to help with the dry throat I'm feeling A-OK. Thanks again for the good thoughts and prayers, I know I'm gonna need all of them I can get!!

Ditto for me!!! sorry to hear your insurance has been so unwilling to help you get healthy, I completely agree with your take on it. They take your money for yrs, but when it comes time for you to move forward to be a healthier person they want to stand in your way. Good luck tomorrow!! ~Monica

I will be laying in the OR at 7:30 tomorrow morning....all I can say is I hope and pray this is the right thing for me. I've been very confident in my desicion up until the last few days, now suddenly it seems like every post I read is someone complaining about their band. I really needed to see your post...I'm haveing my surgery tomorrow morning and it seems like for the past 4 days every single post I've read has been negative and ppl saying how they just are getting the results they expected. My girlfriend (who's banded) put it to me like this..... consider your band to be like a gym membership that comes and drags you off the couch and forces you to participate!! I am having a realize band on 3/26 (3 days away) I'm looking forward to my new life, can't get here soon enough for me!

I have to second you on this one.... I have had a number of ppl tell me that I don't look like I "need" surgery or when I tell them I'm having a band they say "for what you look great." I take care of myself and try to make the best of what I have. I'm extremely fortunet that I have always carried my weight really well. I even have a friend who's seen me butt naked and told me she thought I was almost 50 lbs less then what I really am!! It's FAR LESS about how I LOOK...this is all about how I FEEL...and I'm sick and tired of being 34 y/o and feeling like a 64y/o, every joint from the waist down hurts constantly and it's time to do something about it...that's just the bottom line for me!! But I have to admit, it does amaze me how stupid and rude some ppl can be. I once had an obgyn tell me "you would be really pretty if you lost some weight" needless to say he didn't remain my obgyn!!! Hold your head up high, you don't have to explain nor defend yourself to anyone.

Welcome to LBT and congrats for making it this far!! I will be thinking about you and msmary115 when I'm sitting in the bed Thurs morning. I have no doubt we will all do great. I think if we just remember to take things SLOW and EASY then it won't be as bad as yall are thinking it might.... 4 more days!!!!! I can hardly wait!! I have to say....I'm more excited then nervous, I know this is something I can do. I've spent over 18 months trying to get to this point. I'm very lucky that not only do I have the great support here at LBT, but I have a very good friend who is 5yrs out with a band, I think that my be one reason why I'm so relaxed about my decision. The worst thing for me is that my husband has family coming from out of town next wkend so we are supposed to do the whole family get togeather thing....oh and grill steak woohoooo!! None of his family knows I'm having the band....and I expect them to be more judgemental then supportive. I guess I'll be facing a huge challenge right off the bat wooohoooo

My hubby wasn't all gong-ho in the begining either..... To be blunt I told him it wasn't his body, and it wasn't his decession to make....he has no idea what it is like to live in my body and this is a choice I'm making for me, it's not about him. Once the shock wore off I asked him to come with me to a siminar so that he could hear first hand and ask any questions or concerns that he had. My thoughts are this.....this is a very hard journey to make with alot of pitfalls along the way, it will be even more difficult with a spouse that is not supportive. To bad the Dr's don't have a fat suit that can strap onto our loved ones so they can experience first hand what life in our body is like! Good luck!! ~M

Congrats!! Sounds like you two already have a great built in support system working Hopefully I will feel up to posting in the afternoon when I get home from the hospital so I'll try and let ya know how it went for me....I'm expecting things to go very smoothly....had my gallbladder out (lap) 2 days before Christmas and lap hysterectomy the previous Nov so i'm hoping this goes as smoothly for me as those two surguries did . I'm going to be banded with a Rialize band 3/26... When my Dr asked me if I had a preference of bands I told him I wanted him to choose the band HE felt like would be the best option for ME. His reply was "It's like choosing Pepsi or Coke" he said that his patients tend to be hitting there sweet spot sooner with the Realize band and so far there seem to be fewer port issues.... so there you go Success is going to be more about what you put in your mouth and how much you move your butt verses which brand of band you have. Good luck!!!

msmary....we will have to keep in touch and help each other thru this (although you might hate me, my Dr dosen't perscribe to the pre-op liquid diet). I don't know about you, but I'm counting the days down.... I had my pre-op visit on the 13th and found out that I am the 1st surgery scheduled for the day...I'm very excited to know that I won't have to sit and wait for who knows how long...the only thing I'm really concerned about is my surgeon took his family skiing this week for spring break, before he left the room I told him have fun and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFULL!!!! god knows I don't want to reschedule or have to find another surgeon at this stage of the game!!! fatgirlinNY.....it's gonna be your job to let us know what to expect LOL....good luck to you on the 25th....I have no doubt everything will go smoothly!!
