Biceps/triceps. 5K walk.
-
Chest and back weights. 55 minutes on elliptical and 30 minutes on stationary bike (interval training).

40 minutes lower body weight workout. Hour of cardio.

40 minutes on weights (biceps and triceps). 37 minutes on the stationary bike (interval training). I should have done more but lacked some energy due to hunger. I was fine when I left the house but starving half way through my weight routine. Oh well I just have to work harder tomorrow.

Slinderella, my leak did not show up under fluoro. In fact the surgeon told me unless the leak is really significant, it usually won't. I know you're frustrated because I was incredibly angry. I kept gaining and losing the same two pounds over and over again (6mos). Even worse, True Results doesn't charge for fills for the first year...but after that it is $100.00 a pop. The only weight I was losing was in my wallet.

Since I had a leak, all my fills from now on have to be under fluoro. I'm sure there can always be a little lost but if you're missing several ccs, I think that is a big problem. A cc can change the difference between no restriction and "sweet spot."

Dr. Schulman, thank you for providing this wonderful service. I have definitely learned alot in the last few hours surfing some of the previous posts. I do, however, have a few questions of my own. I'm probably about 50 lbs. from my "goal" - a number that I'm sure I will revise considerably in the months to come. I will need an arm lift, breast lift, and TT sometime in the future. My biggest interest right now is the removal of my pannis. It has reduced slightly with my 70lb. weight loss but it is still considerable. Although I have never gone to a doctor for rashes, I could have if I had realized this was an option. (I figured he would just tell me to use some powder and diaper rash ointment!) You have commented that a PS who works with obese patients is best. Do you need that type of surgeon for this type of surgery as it does not seem cosmetic in nature? Also could you give me an estimate of the costs for this type of surgery? Thanks for your time and expertise.

Terri is correct. Your doctor needs to check to see if the correct amount of fluid is really in your band. I recently had a port revision because my band had a leak. I will now do all of my fills under flouro. Sorry I can't speak to the insurance question because I was self-pay.

Wow your ports are so high! Mine is about three inches left of my navel. Previously, if I did a really intense ab workout, I would get a little sore. They found a leak and I had to have a revision on 12/9/08. The doctor moved it slightly but it is still roughly in the same place. I will see if it makes a difference.

I could really use someone to talk to..

lisa make sure you're eating slowly and chewing thoroughly. Also make sure you're not drinking during your meals. When I stopped doing these things, that's when I stopped feeling the restriction and stopped my weight loss. -
Pouch stretch or band slippage
openag replied to KTATOM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can stretch it out. I wasn't losing like I had been so they did a fill under flouro and I could tell that it was stretched slightly. I rarely vomited and when I did, it was only a little bit. When I first got banded, I really slowed down my eating and chewed very carefully. I also didn't drink liquids around meal time. Unfortunately, I have gone back to eating quickly and sipping liquids. Now that I'm getting back to basics, I'm feeling those old feelings of restriction. -

Pictures don't tell the story- warning, in undies!

There's a difference. It's just a pronounced as you want it to be. I'm sure your clothes fit differently. Your reaction is very similar to my own. I've lost a considerable amount of weight according to the scale. I've dropped a number of dress sizes. I'm constantly being complimented on my new size. But when I look in the mirror, I see no significant difference. We are own harshest critics. Keep up the work you will soon see it too. -
Keri, how fast are you eating? I've found that I don't feel any restriction if I eat quickly. But when I slow down, I feel it. You should go to WW because it helps you make better food choices. The combination of better choices (WW), less food (band), and consistent exercise helped me lose 70lbs in about 6 months.

6.3 cc And Still Nothing...
openag replied to jeannebs1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you sure that you actually have 6ccs? I was banded in September of '07. I had lost 70 pounds by May. I have lost almost nothing since, however, even though I had a number of fills. Finally, they checked exactly how much was in the band. Sure enough it wasn't what we all thought. I had a leak that didn't show up on the scans. My surgeon said that it is not uncommon for the leak to be invisible on the scans. Two weeks ago I went in and they replaced my port which did have a leak. You should have them remove all the fluid to verify that you have the full amount.
