My nutitionist just told us that hot tea loosens the band a bit. -
The cravings will go away a little everyday. Have sugar free popsicles, and sugarfree fudge bars if you start shaking (smile).

I had Dr. Rosett. He's cool, but I hear he's not big on fills. I haven't had one yet. I'll see for myself when it's my time.

I was nauseous after surgery for a while but it was the meds. You may need to talk to your doc.

Question about gas/air bubbles..

Banded on the 10th and still bloated. This is hell! -
I wa banded on the 10th and I too am STILL suffering with gas. It's better everyday, but I'm ready for it to be gone. The gas is worst than the tender port area. The gas is now riding up and down my back.

JT, I was so weak yesterday that I had a couple spoons of mashed potatoes. I feel a bit better and I have no guilt. I needed some substance. I'm glad to know you're with me on being sick of clears (smile). Congrats Buddy! -
PharmaGirl, you are doing everything right. Gas pain is very serious and for me and was more painful than all of my incisions. I would agree that drinking fluids is tough, especially when you are so tight. It was murder for me. Some days I'd take only a few sips, then I graduated to half a cup. But I recognized that some of the difficulty with drinking for me was FEAR. I was so bloated that I was afraid to drink anything. I could not bear anything else in my stomach because I was inflated with so much gas! But ask your partner to try and sip hot beverages. Sipping hot tea will give her some liquid in her system to keep her hydrated and comfort her gassy belly. The liquids also helps break up her empty stomach that is swimming in nothing but gas. Give your stomach something to do to offset the gas. It has helped me a bit and I am now tooting and belching all over the place. I know her pain and I pray she feels better very, very soon.

I am feeln better guys. Not good, but better. I am drinking the Milk of Mag and it has helped. Thanks. Unlike JT, I hate the liquid diet and I am so damn weak from food deprivation. I too can't drink all the required liquid, but each day I do a little better. I think at first I was too afraid to drink, because I am so tight and full of gas. I thought I'd pop! Went back to work today and it was sloooooooooow motion. No one knows the details, they just know I'm having a tummy ache. I can tell ya this, I look smaller already. My face has slimmed and my body is taking on a new/old shape. I can still fit my same clothes, but the shape of my body is getting back to the days of yester year already. I haven't weighed myself and I wont until I go back to have the staples removed. Also, I cheated a bit today, had a couple spoons of mashed potatoes. I was so weak. I need them. -

Hi guys, I'm feeling a little better each day, but that dog on gas is just hanging on! I'm now taking in more fluids and I cheated today with a couple spoons of mashed potatoes. My body just felt too week being deprived of food for 2+ weeks. I'll see how it goes, but I won't push it too far. Thanks for your support. -

Hi guys, I had to spend two days in the hospital cuz I had an allergic reaction to the morphine but I am home now and on the mend. I'm still super gassy, but I'm taking gas x strips and drinking Mylanta. All in all I feel terrible now, but I'm looking forward to my new banded life. On the plus side, I look thinner already. At least to myself. -

Had surgery 4/10 and the gas is killing me. I'm using gas x strips but I'm still hurting. Had a rough day at the hospital and I had to stay two days. Turns out I am allergic to morphine and suffered quite a bit. I'm a lil better now but this gas is a mother. -
My surgery was Friday and the gas is killing me but I'm taking the strips.

Thanks. I'm preparing to leave for the hospital now. I love the name Bunny Bandsters! -
I get banded on Friday and I plan to do low carbs afterwards. I did it years ago and lost 40lbs.

? For those not telling ppl being banded
Kimber7 replied to carbgrl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just say you're changing your eating habits and jump starting your weight lose with protein shakes and liquids. That won't be a lie. It's the truth. When you start losing weight, it will be because your eating habits have changed. Not because you have a band. the band is only the tool. The weight will come off based on what you put in your mouth. Lets not give the band all the credit (smile). I'm not telling anyone about the band. I'm not ashamed but I wont be a poster child for lab band surgery. I will only discuss it on a need to know basis. -
I don't Qualify-- Need to gain 5 pounds
Kimber7 replied to WDW Luver's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sucks that you have to find a route to get by the insurance company. Been there done that. I'd go with the Water and a high sodium meal (i.e. Chinese or Italian) the night before and right before weigh in. Also wear a girdle and stuff some flat weights inside (in your bra too, under your breast) trust me, they won't move. Walmart has 5lb steel wrist/leg weights that are flat and easy to conceal. After you weigh in, excuse yourself to the bathroom and remove the weight in the event you are examined. -

I'm on day 5 as well also, but Friday I got dizzy, room was spinning, skin was clammy and I threw up about an ounce of nothing (liquid). So I have been eating about four ounces of protien to feed my body (i.e. beef and chicken, no carbs) for the past two days. Gonna stop with the meat on Tuesday and finish out with full liquids. I'm so excited for friday. My BMI is 40 so I'm not too worried about a huge liver. -
