    Don't know where to start

I think the best advise would come from your doctor. I certainly admire your positive attitude in spite of a two-year plateau. I wish you much success.

    Bread getting stuck

I cannot eat bread. After I had my surgery, I no longer eat bread or drink carbonated drinks. These are two of my doctor's instructions that I have followed religiously.

    Losing without exercise????

I cannot attribute my weight loss to exercise. However, I am at a plateau, so I think that it's going to take exercise in order for me to move forward and lose the rest of the weight.

    I hate plateaus

June 21, 2009 178.6 lbs. I know that the band works for me when I work it. If I were to be honest with myself, I have not worked the band at all. The band is doing its job in spite of my weaknesses. I can't eat skittles, icecream, and m&m's and expect to lose weight. I hardly drink any water and I haven't been doing any purposeful exercising. So...I have to quit lying to myself. Do I really hate plateaus? If I hate the state that I am in weight wise, then I will exercise, drink my water, stop eating slider foods, and increase my protein intake. It's that simple. Otherwise, I don't hate plateaus, I hate myself as evident with my destructive behavior.

    Ugh...plateaus!

Congratulations on your weight loss and overcoming your plateau. I know it's hard work and plateaus are discouraging, but you're an inspiration that we can overcome with the right frame of mind. KUTGW!

    Sorry to say

The band works when we work it!
  11. Honestly, I expected to lose weight faster. Because I have been a yo-yo dieter for the past 10 or so years, I know I could have lost the weight faster by doing low-carb. However, I would have gained it back as I have several times. So...I am thankful for this process even though it has been slower and much harder than I anticipated. I hate when someone refers to wls as the easy way out because there has not been anything easy about this journey. I still have to watch what I eat, drink, and I have to exercise. I would do it all over again.

  13. Hey Ruth, Thanks for sharing your story. BTW...we have the same surgeon...Dr. Collier is great and Journeylite has been very supportive. My question for you though is what are the symptoms of acid reflux? Thanks for any information that you can share.
  14. Sven, Hang in there. I had my surgery in November and I didn't lose any weight from Jan. until March. Yes, it's discouraging, but I assure you that if you keep on keeping on -- eat your Protein, drink Water, and exercise -- the scale will eventually go down. I totally understand how you're feeling, but don't give up and don't give in...
  15. I take those too
  16. Congratulations...i know how devastating plateaus can be. Keep up the good work!
  17. Congratulations...Way to go and welcome to onederland!!! You have done very well. What do you attribute your success to in addition to your band? Are you exercising too?

    Plateau

You and I started at a similar weight and are currently at a similar weight. So...congratulations on the weight that you have lost. I know you're frustrated as I would be and have been during this process. However, after my fourth fill, I have had the restriction that is necessary for me to avoid emotional eating. I wholeheartedly agree with you about more restriction and possibly needing a fill. I would have a heart-to-heart with my doctor. My doctor actually told me that my weight loss would be slower because I didn't have a lot to lose. On my journey, my problem is that when you don't have a lot of weight to lose, it's easier to get complacent or just satisfied. Like you, I wear a size 10/12 and my goal is a comfortable size 8. However, it's hard to complain when I used to be a size 16/18. Anyway, I didn't pay 13,500 to ALMOST get to my goal...I want to reach goal. I said all that to say...I understand your frustration:)

If I knew then What I know Now!!!

I wish I had done the pre-op diet....most people lose a significant amount of weight during that time. I wish I had waited to have my surgery in January and not right before Thanksgiving and Christmas on Nov. 20th. I think I would have been more focused on exercise. Although my weight loss has been slower than I thought it would have been, I have NO regrets. Someone earlier said it best...and I agree....I have cheated my band and still I have lost weight. What would have happened had I followed all the rules?

    New Month - Renewed Focus

June 1, 2009 178.8 Chest - 37" Waist - 31" Hips - 42.5" Arm - 12.5" Thigh - 24.5" I am so happy that I am over halfway to my goal of 150 lbs. I am receiving compliments on a daily basis about my weight loss. I am striving to reach my goal because I haven't been at it since high school. However, if I don't lose another pound, I still feel good about my progress. I feel so much better about myself. I was headed on a path of destruction. I have no doubt in my mind that I had I not opted for the lapband, I would have reached 300 pounds during this end of my stressful year on my job. I know that I must become more consistent at drinking more water, taking my multivitamin, and exercising in order to promote more weight loss.
