    Delivered's Journey

March 15, 2009 It's 12:09 a.m. and I can't sleep for thinking about the life that I have missed because of my struggle with obesity. For the past 10 years, I have gained and lost the same 50 or so pounds several times. In November of 2008, I decided to take matters into my own hands and I had the lap band surgery. I thought it was the answer to my prayers and in some ways it was...I did not gain any weight during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays (for the first time). However, actual weight loss has not been easy. I thought I would be half-way to goal by now, but I am not. I have lost 17 lbs. in about three months. I recognized that I would have been more successful had I been more disciplined. I have some issues that must be addressed in order to have any weight loss success. I tend to sabatoge myself in amazing ways...chips, candy, icecream...you name it. So...I need to recommit to myself and my success. I am starting this blog as a daily journal to record my thoughts, successes, and challenges. I plan to exercise daily as well. Okay...I can do this!

    Would you do it again?

YES! I am definitely pleased with my decision to have the lapband surgery and would do it all over again. I have been a little disappointed in my slow weight loss, but I recognize that it has been my fault. The only thing I would change is that I would have done a pre-op diet. I am definitely excited about my new journey...
  3. This was an encouraging post to read. Thank you for sharing. Like many of you have already stated, I am looking forward to the day when I can wear my smaller clothes. I too recently passed by Lane Bryant and stated to my husband that I don't have to shop there again. With my band, I now believe this because I have said it in the past and had to "eat" my words when I gained the weight back! KUTGW because we are so...worth it!

    Delivered's Journey

March 17, 2009 Today is my daughter's birthday. She will turn 5 years old at 10:00 a.m.! We are celebrating her birthday at a park. I am going to be surrounding my slider foods...cake, chips, etc. The good thing is that I am scheduled for a fill tomorrow morning. This fill will hopefully make recommitting much easier. My TOM is coming to an end too, so I can start weighing myself again tomorrow morning. I am on my way...

    Delivered's Journey

March 16, 2008 Today has been a long day. We celebrated with a Family and Friends' Day at church and what a time! There were so many people present that it was absolutely amazing. You know, it's so easy to trust God in most areas of my life, but for some reason, it's difficult to know what to do about my weight issues. Tomorrow starts my spring break...YEAH! I am so excited that I will be able to get some much needed rest. It's also going to be a good time to refocus on my weight loss goals. I normally weigh everyday, but I haven't for the past couple of days because of my TOM. My goal this week is to refocus and recommit to my health! I am on my way...

  9. I am impressed...81 lbs. is fantastic weight loss. I am amazed that you lost that amount of weight in a relatively short amount of time. You should be proud of yourself. Just think, you don't feel like you've given 100% and you've still lost a lot of weight. Keep up the good work and try not to be too hard on yourself. You're doing great!

  15. Wannabeskinnyb, I was told the same thing...that since my BMI was lower, I would lose at a slower pace. I had my surgery on Nov. 20th at 213 lbs., and I am currently fluctuating between 196 and 199 lbs. I am going to strive for the next two weeks to get to my 20 lbs. mark of 193! For some reason, my doctor did not require that I do the pre-op diet and I wish I had. Although I get frustrated at times, I am glad that I had the surgery because I was once able to gain up to 10 lbs. in a week or two. Now, even when I overeat, the scale only goes up a pound or two. I am cheering for you. Please know that I definitely know how you feel and I have had those same thoughts that you're expressing now. You're doing WW and I am doing the pre-op diet that I should have done before my surgery. Let's keep each other encouraged. How tall are you? I am 5 feet 4.5 inches. Also what size do you wear? Have you taken your measurements yet? Take care, Delivered
  16. DDGalarza, Thank you so much for being so...positive. I had surgery on November 20th and I have yet to lose 20 lbs., however, in the past I would have gained 20 lbs. between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I know that I can do better ... work out harder and more frequently, stop eating slider foods, and stop munching late at night ... just to name a few. I am happy to know that it's going to be much more difficult to gain as much weight as I have in the past because I can't eat as much. It's so easy to be negative about this entire process. I will be the first to admit that I had unrealistic expectations. I think I was hoping gastric bypass results! As my doctor has emphasized from the beginning, the lap band is just a tool on this weight loss journey. Again, thanks for your positive attitude because your are so...right! Delivered
  17. This thread has been a godsend. I started liquids today and I feel so much better. I have been sipping on Special K Protein Water and it really does take the cravings away. I had my lap band surgery Nov. 20th of this year and have only lost 13 pounds. However, I have been able to eat more than I thought possible during this Christmas holiday. The good news is that I haven't gained any weight, but the bad news is that I am not losing as I would have had I not overindulged myself! I was so... happy to see this thread and I hope with the new year, will come the new attitude that someone mentioned in their post. You guys are great! Delivered
