hdickey1 started following December Bandsters, OK so I'm starting to worry..., Pain when eating certain foods and and 7 others
-
:bored:I've had my band for a year now and haven't really had that many problems other than being super tight in the mornings. I've had a couple un-adjustments due to this tightness. Well the other day I weighed and I've gained several pounds so I decided it was time to tighten things back up. Day one of adjustment just clear liquids..it was all fine. Day two had clear and full liquids and then a little soup at night. So today I had three bites of a frosty around lunch and have been PBing ever since. I don't feel the food in there any more but my mouth won't stop salivating and it is making me need continue to PB. I'm worrying about slippage and I know I'll probably end up in the DR office tomorrow doing a barium swallow. Anyone know what to do for now though?:smile2:

ok going to ask pizza and pasta
hdickey1 replied to sandi1011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have any problems with either right now. I eat the lean cuisine pizzas for lunch sometimes. They are really good and go down great with lots of chewing! Pastas....not a problem at all.....yet that is! Hopefully with my next fill things won't go down as easy and I WON'T be able to eat all these yummy things anymore! -
I need some advice, please!
hdickey1 replied to pappyny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't believe you have anything to truely worry about! I had to have all the fluid removed from my band in the first week because I wasn't able to tolerate...well....anything! I was very swollen according to them and it didn't help that my monthly friend was there to visit the day after surgery! They should be able to tell with your fills if the band has slipped anyways. I know everytime I go in I have to do a barium swallow and you can clearly see my band, pouch, and port everytime. GOOD LUCK!! -
I was banded in December and I've had 3 fills since. A week after surgery they removed all the fluid in my band because I was very nauseated so as of right now I'm still a little behind fill wise according to my Dr. After my last fill, about a month ago, when I eat certain foods (for some reason fries in particular, I KNOW BAD BAD!) I get this awful pain that radiates to my shoulder and I have to stop eating and wait 10-15 minutes before I start to eat again. I'm assuming that this is food getting stuck. I'm about to be off my dad's insurance in a month or so and wondered if I should try to get another fill even with this recent development. I've noticed that I have been eating a slightly larger portion than in the first 3 weeks since my last fill but I'm kinda worried that I shouldn't get it until I get this problem under control!

Have you used CURVES?
hdickey1 replied to megster27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I did curves before I had the lap band. I think it was kinda boring to be honest but then again I get bored pretty easily. After going for a few months I hated going! It was like same story every day. The best part about Curves is the people you meet while you are there, which in my case I was the young one dancing around the circle with a bunch of elderly women. So I have mixed emotions about Curves. I probably would never join again! -
I knew going into this surgery things were gonna be different...def for the better. BUT since my last fill my bowel patters have gotten a little off. I know not as much in...not as much out. What should be the normal? Everyone is different so I guess it varies but what should be the normal if you use to go every day?

Just starting the process . . .
hdickey1 replied to al9mc2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had BCBS and boy was it a B*TCH! I spent almost exactly one year trying to get them to approve the surgery! They said they would cover it and eventually they did. I had to send them a complete history of my weight and my high blood pressure from two or three different doctors and yada yada yada. It was a hard long process which made the day they finally said yes a true blessing! I would say to just be prepared and have lots of documentation of your weight and other problems at your finger tips. Best of luck!!! -
As of right now nursing student (BSN RN) Hopefully L&D or Peds Nurse

So how about this...I was on my period 2 days after surgery! Needless to say the first week was absolute HELL. So I'm over that point and won't be due for another couple of months (thanks BC!). So if the next time is anything like the first time I think I might just curl up in a ball and not move!!

I was banded on 12/18 and I def. need a fill! My one week follow-up didn't go so great. The first week was horrible and I don't think I got more than 60-100 calories on a good day and the DR wasn't happy. They ended up taking the 3mL they put in the "prime" the band out so as of right now I don't think I ever get really full. I only put a cup to a cup and a half of food on my plate and stop eating after that but I don't get that really full sensation! I have to try to persuade my DR to fit me in around my school schedule so my fill won't really be "on time." I think I might of actually gained weight since my inital 15lb loss

Help me I've gained weight!
hdickey1 replied to BubblyBandit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I'm on week four and I've noticed that I've gained some weight back. I haven't found a scale I could really ever trust though. Some weigh me less some weigh me more so I'm not really sure where I'm at. After the first week I lost 14.5 but I also wasn't eating anything, they ended up taking out the fluid that they used to "prime" my band so there is nothing in there. I hope my first fill will give me some more restriction. I'm like you I'm extremely frustrated at this point! -
Banded 12/18 Not hungry
hdickey1 replied to hdickey1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the info! Hopefully this nausea thing will go away. I'm still stuck on the clear liquid diet. I feel like I could eat something but I'm so sick of broth and juice! I tried some milk this morning and it went good! I can't wait to move to the next week...yummy soft baby food type stuff! -
So this is my third day after the band and I'm still not hungry at all! If I even start to think about drinking broth or juice or jello I feel so sick! Did anyone else have this problem and how long does it last?!
