In need of information and buddies
juliegeraci replied to gagabutton's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, welcome to lapbandtalk forum. Are you with Kaiser? They always have you lose 10%. I live in Gilroy and go to Dr. McKeen in San Jose. I've been banded 15 months and love it. Good luck to you. -
My doctor only sees me on the basis that I need his help. Otherwise I don't see him.

what does sweet spot feel like????
juliegeraci replied to shoregirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My sweet spot is when I can only eat 1/4 cup of food and am losing 1-2 lbs per week. I am there now. It took me a long time to get there. -
If you are losing 1-2 lbs a week and eating only 1/2 cup of food you are perfect. If you find that you are hungry more often then you would need a fill. Sounds like you may be at your sweet spot.

2cc filll and I don't feel restricted...
juliegeraci replied to augbander07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, this can be true. I have seen people who have more than 2 ccs in their 4cc band that have good restriction. Good luck. -
JP, it took me 5 fills to get good restriction. YOu are doing great considering you haven't had a fill yet. Just keep going back until you can eat 1/4 cup of food at a time. YOu can do it.
-
If you can go before your surgery just pick something healthy from the menu. Good luck.
-
First, I would start with restriction. You must have good restriction to lose our maintain your weight. You shouldn't be able to eat more than 1/4 cup of food at a time. Second, think back as to why you had your surgery. Regain your focus NOW. Start to walk. Your 6 lbs can come off in a matter of weeks. Good luck.

Hi Shelli, I am doing okay. I'm down about 65 lbs in the last 15 months. I'm a slow loser. I have another 40 to go. I had my band unfilled to 2.2 from 3.0 last Thursday. So far I have gained a couple lbs. Its strange not being filled. I can eat more, but not much more. I get refilled in a week.

I need a kick in the butt after 2 years
juliegeraci replied to ts505050's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My first year was plagued with ups and downs. It took me 6 months and 5 fills to finally get good restriction. I lost about 60 lbs my first year. I still have 40 to go. Its been really hard. Keep the faith. Accountability is a good ideas. Does your doctor have a support group? -
Feeling sad, having second thoughts
juliegeraci replied to BrooklynBandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Listenhard, I went through the same emotions. Wondering how on God's green earth I could reach almost 300 lbs. Once I got over the fact that I needed help in this area, I was fine. I mourned it for a day and got over it. You will be okay. Just stay focused on the prize. You will love losing the weight and feel much better. Its okay to seek help. Obesity is not curable. -
Mine took about 10-12 weeks start to finish.
-
YOu can do it. I know it is difficult but just think pretty soon you'll be back on solids. Good luck.
-
Jim, you have to be crazy to want your band out when you lose all your weight. The potential to gain it all back is very high. I maintain at about 2.5ccs. She is nuts. Don't remove your band. It is there for a lifetime.

Help!! Someone please tell me I'm not the only one who has made this mistake!!
juliegeraci replied to BRANDYK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You're fine. We have all overeaten at some point. I wouldn't freak out if I were you. Hope you enjoyed those cosmos. -
Even if the band only works 10 years I still would want it. There may be some people over in Europe that see this post. I don't think US patients have had them more than 7 or 8 years. I plan on having mine for life. There is no reason why I can't.

What did you eat today????? Tuesday
juliegeraci replied to silkhair1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A few bites of an omelette A jamba juice an apple Sushi -
Hang in there. It is quite common to gain weight between fills. Keep going back for fills until you can no longer eat more than 1/4 cup of food. Its normal for you to eat 1 cup now. Good luck.

How does your doc decide how much to fill?
juliegeraci replied to homew6kids's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't be frustrated. What you are experiencing is completely natural. It took me about 6 months and 5 fills to finally get good restriction. I have heard some people with your bandsize need 7ccs. You have gotten a good start. Don't be afraid to ask for a fill. Its your band.
