Where is your port?
juliegeraci replied to georgia girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is on the left side right around the waist line. No problems here. -
I am considered a slow loser at 1-2 lbs per week. Basically that is average. I'm down about 60 lbs in 15 months. Just stay focused. It will take you longer but you will still get there!

Be very careful. Crackers turn into mushy so you are probably okay. But my doctor chewed me out big time when I told him I had eaten after surgery. You can rip out your stitches. Stick to creamy soups that seems to do the trick for me.
-
Caramel, I can sip through a straw very well. No problems here.

Yes, it has happend to me. I brought it back up to my doctor just last week. He suggested I buy some Prilosec. It worked. I would try that first. YOu can take it once a day and it stays with you 24 hours.

When should i call the insurance company?
juliegeraci replied to buttercup76's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would call once a week. Good luck. -
My worse experience is when I couldn't make it to the bathroom I puked back up into my clam chouder right in the middle of the restraunt. My husband just sat there amazed and couldn't believe his eyes. No one else saw me, thank God.

Cindy, good luck with your sleeve. Sorry to hear about your current erosion.

How long from initial appointment to banding?
juliegeraci replied to ambaloosa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine took about 10-12 weeks. I had to do the nutritional, psych eval and bloodwork. My insurance originally denied me but because there were no bariatric surgeons in my plan they reapplied for me and I was accepted. Good luck. -
Hi From Sacramento, CA
juliegeraci replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
HI there. I live in Gilroy. I've been banded 15 months and I've lost just over 60 lbs. You will love your band. Good luck. -
If you are hungry and not losing weight then you need another fill. YOu should be losing a minimum of 1 lb per week.

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
juliegeraci replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor now does 90% lapband. This time last year he only did 30%. The lapband works! -
Jo Jo, it is quite common to PB once you get stuck, especially if you drink to force it down. You are normal.
-
Good for you!
-
I think 20-30 lbs is realistic unless you are an average loser then I would say best 20 lbs. I think it is realistic though, especially to Christmas. Good luck.

That is hysterical. Glad your toe is okay. What an unpleasant woman.

I get banded and Trader Joe's opens up...
juliegeraci replied to Darragha's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Darr, Trader Joe's is a great store with so many bandster choices. I have one not too far from my house too. Congrats on not giving into the temptations. -
Strange. If you were at 2 ccs then stayed at 2ccs I don't see where the problem is. Maybe the stomach lining thickened around the band. I would give it a couple more days then go down to 1.8 or something close.

Eating solids and gaining weight!
juliegeraci replied to missy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is exactly how much I gained in between fills. You will lose it once you start getting restriction. -
If you are concerned a out protein I would throw in a protein shake for dinner. Just try to get enough protein.

Calling all "seasoned" bandsters!!!! pre bandster searching answers from the wise.
juliegeraci replied to bandster_1007's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there. I have been banded for 16 months. I have lost 62 lbs out of the 100. So I am considered an average loser at 1-2 lbs per week. I have not had any major complications. One time I couldn't hold down solids so with a slight unfill I was okay. The surgeon said that sometimes the stomach wall can thicken around the band tightening it. I do have a little nauseau from time to time so I take Prilosec. I just started on that today. Other than that, I love my band. 40 more lbs to go! -
A question regarding bread
juliegeraci replied to missy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been banded 15 months and have no trouble with bread. I just can't eat as much of it.
