It took me 5 fills to have optimal restriction. Keep going back until you have good restriction. Good luck.

Hi..would like some advice
juliegeraci replied to flw64's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When does your doctor start giving fills? Mine did them at 6 weeks. You need a fill. Good luck. -
Hi Blessed. I love being banded. I think the weight loss is a little slower though. I'm 16 months post op and have lost about 65 lbs.
-
Sorry You Did it?

I am really happy being banded. Its the best thing I have ever done. -
Anyone able to eat cheese
juliegeraci replied to Jobstud's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cheese is my friend. It goes down perfectly and keeps me filled. -
I am barely never hungry. I can go until 10 or 11 am before my protein shake Eating a small lunch I can still go several hours until I need a snack. It depends on your fill level.

You can lose weight with restriction alone but for most folks it really helps to count calories. Just try and stick to good small meal portions and see how you do.

Does anyone else have weird band related dreams or nightmares?
juliegeraci replied to BRANDYK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Funny. I had a food dream last night. I dreamt that I was eating a huge hot fudge sundae, yummy! -
if you have your surgery in January or February you may be on solids, particularly January. If your surgery is in February it will be really close to your vacation so I would wait until April or May if I were you. Its tough enough to be banded, but when you are mushy stage that is tough.

Okay. I'm going to try again.

Mine are $200 US each. -
mis42, you should have good restriction. A fill will definitely help.

All I am saying is for ME I look like hell at 150. In fact, I have never been under 165. And yes, when your bones stick out, its too far to go.
-
I'm fine. I have plenty of protein in my diet as I always start the day with a protein shake. 1 cup is too much food for me. Been there, done that ie. weight gain.
-
I hear you but skin and bones isn't good.
-
For me I look sick at anything under 165. Ghastly.

You can have protein shakes on the liquid stage. I would highly recommend a protein shake from the beginning after surgery.

Help! I think my band has slipped!
juliegeraci replied to missy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How many fills have you had? -
The first 60 lbs were a breeze. Its the remaining 40 that are not so easy! Good luck with your band!
-
Okay. I'm going to try again.

Sounds like you may need a fill for sure. I'm 16 months out and I am constantly filling and unfilling. Sorry! -
2 weeks post op and not hungry, is this normal?
juliegeraci replied to Chelle 1968's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wasn't hungry at 2 weeks either. You will need a fill when a)you aren't losing 1-2 lbs per week  you are unbearably hungry. Otherwise you can hold out. Good luck. -
I live in Gilroy and I've been banded 16 months. My sister uses the Bodybug and loves it.
-
that was 3-4 incisions not 304
-
How bad is the scarring? I have about 304 incisions and yes you can see them. Is saggy skin due to significant weightloss common? It depends on your body. For me losing 100 lbs I will need a tummy tuck. Does lapbanding really work? Yes, it works. Its never been easier for me to have portion control. Am I going to feel hungry from such small portions? No, once you start to get fills you will not be as hungry. Recovery time? My recovery was 5 days and then I was back to work. I love my band. I would replace it for anything.
-
It sounds like you have so reflux. I would go on Prilosec. That is what helped me. Good luck.

Wt, I have had some fills last 2 weeks and others last a month. Since I've been banded 16 months I probably have had 12 fills, some unfills. I had a fill a week ago then 5 days later I went in for another since he only gave me a little bit. It just depends on your body. If you lose weight you can definitely feel the difference with your fills since the fatty tissue on the stomach disappears. Hope this answers your question.
