Amazing what you don't realize-NSV
juliegeraci replied to Crishell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
NSV is non scale victory. ie. losing a clothing size, fitting on an airplane, etc. -
After a small unfill I can eat anything...HELP!
juliegeraci replied to gingersnap's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Fills are funny. Sometimes .1cc makes a difference. I would go back in and see if .2 or .3 heps you. Good luck. -
I am having great trouble getting food and fluids in, i need some help please
juliegeraci replied to flamingnutters's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jane, glad you got it sorted out. It sure is nice to eat healthy isn't it!? -
Sherilynn, I hope you enjoy your vacation. It sounds wonderful. Thankfully I had a slight unfill before my vacation but only gained 2 lbs. I just could go on vacation worrying about PBing and I didn't. Have fun!

Weirdest(perhaps even cool??) feeling ever...
juliegeraci replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Rain, it hasn't happened to me, but I have PBd water before. -
I agree with her. Looks like you are doing great without the fill. Too lose will not cause a slip. Good luck.

1-2 is more average. 2-4 would be considered above average.

Hi WT. Yes, I am doing really well. I went in for a fill last Friday to 3.2 which is much higher for me. So far, I have lost about 3 lbs I think. So that is exciting for me. I'm considered a slow loser at 1 lb per week so I am happy. I am down 65 lbs and 3 sizes since surgery. Good luck!

Hi Nina, I'm from CA. PB stands for productive burp. It is exactly like vomitting.

First Day on Mushies & HUNGRY!
juliegeraci replied to kbear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Leona, are you on the mushy stage yet? A sandwich probably will not kill you but be careful. Bread can get stuck causing PB fairly easily. You may be okay since you haven't had a fill yet. Bread becomes more problematic once you start getting fills. -
Hi WT, how are you doing?
-
Avilla, I know what you mean. The band takes time to lose with. I've been stuck for a while now too. I am 16 months post op and down 65 lbs only. From what I read on your post it sounds like you may need another fill. Good luck.

Does anyone else have weird band related dreams or nightmares?

Band surgery was a breeze for me. Nerves are totally normal. Good luck. -
First Day on Mushies & HUNGRY!

Popcorn is definitely not a mushy. That being said, popcorn goes down really easy. My doctor explained it like sand going through a tube. Good luck with your decision. -
I've used their Whey and Soy products. Both are really good.
-
The GNC protein shake in chocolate tastes really good. No aftertaste and very sweet.

If I'm not losing now, how will I lose then?
juliegeraci replied to mandi78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may be one of those bandsters that may have to only eat 800-1k calories a day. I gained 7 lbs in between fills one time. Fills will definitely help. Now its time to heal. Good luck. -
Hi Kimmi, welcome to bandland. I am 40 and was banded last June. The surgery was really easy for me. I had a little bit of nausea but that was cured with anti nausea medication. I had no gas. The port site was sore for about 2 weeks. You will do great. Good luck.

YES!!! I Finally Made it to Onederland!!!
juliegeraci replied to Lynn_Marie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lynn, that is fabulous news. I am 18 lbs from 200 and I can't wait! Good job! -
GNC has a really good chewable multi vitamin as well.
-
Emily, the surgery is pretty easy. The hardest part was the port soreness. I couldn't sleep on my side for about 2 weeks. I love my band.

I forgot to introduce myself...HOW RUDE!
juliegeraci replied to cookielover's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Amy, are you banded yet? Once you start getting fills it really helps the hunger. -
I use GNC whey or soy protein shakes. With a cup of skim milk you get 25-30 grams of protein. Its a lot easier to get your protein in.
-
Your fill doctor can fill you with a thicker saline to help with little leaks. It worked for me and I can now hold a fill. Ask him about that.
-
Beans are an excellent source of protein. They are also band friendly.
