How many fills before good restriction?
juliegeraci replied to vcr26's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me 5 fills to finally get good restriction. I believe I have seen people go up to 7 ccs or so with your band size. It may take you several months to get there if that is the case. Good luck. -
That is fantastic. Keep up the good work.

How often do you have a protein shake for breakfast?
juliegeraci replied to mandi78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Personally speaking I can't live without my protein shakes. Yesterday I bought vanilla to mix with my Matcha green tea which I just bought. Often times I'll have a green tea frapuccino from Starbucks so now I am going to make them myself. The protein alone is 25 grams without milk. More with milk. Yummy. -
Gummie., most likely you are too tight. I would wait about a week and see if it eases up. Good luck.

Hi Sherilynn, glad to hear from you. I understand exactly how you are feeling. There is a fine line in the sand when it comes to good restriction. In my opinion and my doctor's opinion, 1 cup of food is too much. With good restriction you should only be able to consume 1/4 cup of food. I always start my day with a protein shake to make sure I get my 60 grams in. One example of good restriction is recently I went from 3.2 to 2.9 ccs and I've gained 3 lbs since I did that. I am so use to eating only 1/4 cup of food I guess my body got use to it. You may only need .2ccs or just a slight fill. Keep that in mind as well. Good luck with your fill. There is nothing like feeling satisfied. Julie

He has first bite syndrom. I am surprised he doesn't PB. Yes, warm liquids will help. I would try that first. Other than that, its just a waiting game.

Feeling full 20 minutes after eating
juliegeraci replied to KarenG.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Karen, I would slow down if I were you. That way you can feel full when you are 1/2 way done. I really think eating 30 minutes is too long. I would say 15. -
I can't say that I drink 10 drinks a day but I would consider myself a heavy drinker. Often times, I can drink a few beers and take quite a few tequila shots. I don't get any more buzzed with my weight loss. The downside is slower weight loss. I lose 1 lb a week. I probably would be at goal if I didn't drink so much. I've lost 65 lbs in 16 months. Just be aware of the downsize. Drinking is fine in moderation. Maybe you could cut your drinking in 1/2. That would be good. Good luck with your decision.

What is the charge for a fill or unfill?
juliegeraci replied to BubbaLove's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My fills and unfills are $200 each. No a nurse just can't do it unless they have special training. -
Could you eat this much in one sitting ???
juliegeraci replied to I'm still here's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lynn, I wouldn't be able to eat more than 2 chicken nuggets. You probably need a fill. Good luck. -
My funniest eating out experience is when I PBd right at the table back into my clam chowder! I was so happy no one in the restraunt saw me.

too tight or just doing things wrong?
juliegeraci replied to jenf3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes .1 or .2 can make a huge difference. I just went from 3.2 to 3 and I can totally feel the difference. You may just need .1 taken out. -
For me personally I can only eat about 1/3 of a sandwich. You may need a slight adjustment.
-
Leena, use a numbing agent for sure moving forward.

Ok...will I ever not be hungry.
juliegeraci replied to sweetforlife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can only share with you my experience. With good restriction I can only consum 1/4 cup of food. Yes, 1/4 cup. I spoke to my doctor about it yesterday and he agreed that was the right amount with good restriction. I have a protein shake in the a.m. so that helps a lot. I would reconsider you fill level until you have good restriction. However, if you are losing 1-2 lbs a week you may want to reconsider. I don't have any hunger at all. I have heard 7 ccs in a 10cc band before. Go until you feel satisfied. Good luck. -
too tight or just doing things wrong?
juliegeraci replied to jenf3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jen, it sounds like you are only able to eat junk. Is that correct? You shoul be able to eat lean protein. I can only eat a few bites as well with good restriction. I would mix your diet up a bit since you have such a hard time with solids. I would drink a protein shake for breakfast, followed but some more protein in a soft form like cottage cheese or yogurt. You should be able to get in 1-2 oz of solid protein at dinner. Keep your calories to 800-1000 no more than 1200 calories a day. You will lose. -
Hi, I live in Gilroy, CA. I've been banded 16 months and I'm down 65 lbs and 21 lbs to goal. Good luck.
-
Run into the doctor after your 6 week check up and get a fill. That will help a little bit. In the meantime, you may want to make sure or bring vegies with Ranch dressing with you or something healthy. It may be difficult if you don't have restriction.
-
I don't watch fats at all. I concentrate on protein. The only fat I have is in milk or my protein shakes as well as meats.
-
I don't regret it at all. Its been the easiest weight loss to date. That being said, I wish I had committed more to not drinking alcohol and exercising more early on. I'm down 65 lbs in 16 months. I 'm sure I would be at goal already if I had done those things. Good luck.

Dr. McKeen in San Jose, CA takes Mexico patients. He charges me $200 a fill. Not sure how much under fluoro. He is wonderful!
-
It will help when you get your fill. Keep going back until you have good restriction. It took me 5 fills. Good luck.
-
I got heartburn after my last fill. He had me on Prilosec, but after all that I had to have a .2 unfill. Good luck.

WASABB - I need your help & guidance!
juliegeraci replied to wombat712's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Alfie, you will be surprised as to how much food you actually will eat while being banded. Sometimes I get full on just a few bites. -
Lauren, that was sure quick! Good for you girl. Way to go.
