Overeating and expanding my stomach...how do I shrink it??
juliegeraci replied to Ms. NYC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can consume a large amount of food you need a fill again. -
That is hysterical. What a great idea.

Since I eat so little I typically eat about 5 times a day.

juliegeraci replied to hastalabyebye's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I typically pick Mexican. Cheese Enchiladas go down really nice. -
Bandsters typically eat 800-1k calories a day. If you can lose eating more good for you. In my case, I can't eat more.

Not feeling full at all!

If your doctor says eat until you are full do so. The weight will come off after you start getting fills. Good luck. -

To fill or not to fill ......that is the question
juliegeraci replied to Chris_NJ's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you are still losing a tad and you will be away from medical care 6-12 months I would wait. There is something to be said for being able to lose and maintain comfortably without medical care. I would definitly not have a fill. Good luck. -
Kristine, 400 calories is not a lot. I would speak to your surgeon and/or Nutritionist and find out if you can eat more like 800-1k. Try and eat a lot of protein if you can't. Good luck.

Are you on mushy stage yet? If you are eat chili, oatmeal and soups. They all are mushy and will help the hunger. Good luck. -

Yes, liquid calories are deadly. Good that you found that out early. Good luck. -
My doctor said I could have anything that fit through a straw post op. That being said, creamy soups saved me. I was hungry but with the milk as protein it really helped me a lot. Good luck to you.

Sue, hi again. It is all about anatomy. If you require a bigger band they give them to you. I have a 10 cc band. My band holds 4 ccs. Currently I am at 2.9 ccs and I'm up a few lbs from 3.2 ccs. I can't wait not to be hungry again with a fill back to 3.2ccs. Hope this answers your questions. P.S. Ask your surgeon how much your band holds. Mine holds 4 ccs but I have heard that some size 10 bands hold a lot more. Restriction can be a little tricky if you have the bigger band. I have heard good restriction with something like 7ccs. It depends on what your body can stand. It took me 5 fills to reach optimal restriction. Good luck.

Hi Sue, where do you live? I have been banded for a year and half. I am considered a slow average lose at 1 lb per week. Right now I had a slight unfill because I wanted to eat during the Holidays. I'm down 65 lbs from surgery and 100 from my height weight a few years ago. Time really flies with surgery. Just remember that restriction along with some exercise is key to losing the weight. Good luck! -
Beth., good luck with your surgery. I've been banded for a year and 1/2 and I'm down 65 lbs. I am down from a size 24/26 to a sizes 18 and 14/16 on the top. The band is wonderful. I had hammer toe surgery a long time ago and I can't tell you enough on how much my toes have improved. Best of luck to you! Julie

Sue, how much food can you consume at once? For me good restriction is only 1/2 cup at a time. If you can eat 1 cup and still lose 1-2 lbs a week that is your sweet spot. In my case, I need to eat less to lose. You will find the point that you can lose 1-2 lbs okay but it may require a fill or 2. Keep in mind that if you are one of those that requires less food to lose protein is still important. I use protein shakes to suplement. I typically have 1 for breakfast each day to give me 30 grams. It is easy to make up 30 additional grams throughout the day. It really sounds like you need another fill. It took me 5 fills to get good restriction. Good luck.
