Missy, I live in Gilroy and I have a wonderful surgeon who does my fills in San Jose named Dr. Robert McKeen. He takes other doctor's patients if you need a fill doctor who is closer.

I couldn't believe this when I read about it. I feel so bad for her!

Countdown to last adjustment-UNFILL
juliegeraci replied to VegasGrace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Grace, I have a size 10 band which holds 4ccs. I was at 3.2 and went down to 2.9 and have maintained okay. You may only need to go do .3 or so. Try it out. Good luck. -
4 months into lapband and losing focus!
juliegeraci replied to babyblue71us's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sharon, you really need to think long and hard as to why you had the surgery. Do you need a fill? What restriction level are you at? How much do you eat. This is a committment and you can do it! Start over today. -
My Surgery is Dec. 4th... Help
juliegeraci replied to Rosie15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rosie, I totally understand. I cried before I had the surgery saying to myself "how did I get here". The surgery was actually pretty easy. I had to take anti nausea medication a little bit and my port site was sore. It took me about a week and I felt just fine. You will do great! Good luck. -
"Houston, We Have Restriction" WEE HEE!
juliegeraci replied to LovingWhatIs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lisa, there is nothing like true restriction. 1/2 a cup of food is perfect. Good luck. -
Jenn, it sounds like you are doing all the right things. You will be sore for a few days at least.
-
Kayla, congrats on getting banded. You will do great. Good luck.

I'M STARVING and its only day 3

Protein shakes are really important and should help. My doctor said I could have anything that fit through a straw. With that being said, creamy soups really helped me. Just make sure your soups don't have meat in them. -
I don't think you can damage anything if you eat solids. Liquids and then mushies is because of the swelling that can occur during a fill. My doctor recommends 24 hours of liquids, followed by 24 hours of mushies then solids.

Leena, good for you. Keep up the good work.
-
Hatmama, you definately need another fill. My doctor does fills 2 weeks apart. I would bump up your appointment if you can.

Trouble getting back on track
juliegeraci replied to wheresmyknight3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You definitely need a fill. I should help. -
You look great. Almost to goal! Way to go.

Not worth dating a married man. Too much drama. Been there done that.
-
YOu need to seek help right now. If you can't get ahold of your fill doctor you can go to ER and ask for a chemotherapy nurse to take some saline out. I feel bad for you. You should be able to get in liquids and mushies for sure. Good luck.

I chose the lapband because it is a healthier alternative to RYN. I don't like the fact that you have malabsorption with RYN. You also can't drink any alcohol. I like the fact that I can eat anything, just less of it.

Yes, my disappointment was that they didn't reveal more about what they consumed, how much exercise, how they started exercising and their plastic surgeries. The woman who lost 530 lbs had to have had plastic surgery but it was not mentioned. I also would have like to have heard how she exercised at 700 lbs.

When you don't have restriction 1 cup of food is okay. When you do have good restriction 1/4 to 1/2 cup is optimal. It will be okay when you have more fills.
-
What you are experiencing is restriction. Slow down and see how it goes. If you can't eat more more than 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food then you are right. If you find yourself PBing then you are too tight. Hope this helps.

Has anyone ever advanced post op food phase ealier than you were supposed to?
juliegeraci replied to bparris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very dangerous as you can risk ripping out your stitches. My doctor was very upset with me. Follow the plan. -
Karen, yes, it is feeling full right after the first bite. Sometimes it just take a few minutes to pass. In my case, I usually PB. Last night during dinner I had a wonderful steak tostado salad. I had to PB twice, one on my margarita, the other some solid food first then I was able to consume almost the entire salad. If warm liquids help you then I would start with that. While PB is nasty, that is typically how I address first bite syndrome then I am fine. Depends on your body. Good luck.

Good for you. A good Dermatolgoist is hard to come by. -
Debbie, I would highly recommend a good protein shake. You should be able to get in 20-30 grams of protein with one. Protein is really important at this stage. Good luck.
