juliegeraci replied to missypshep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
cmeyer, you are doing great. You can eat up to a cup of food without a problem. That is normal. Good luck. -
does anyone have feelings for their lapband doctor?
juliegeraci replied to mylapspirit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Shelli, I totally understand! There is nothing wrong with having a crush. Make you feel good that someone cares about you. Good luck. -
Yes, I can eat both just not much of them.

I definitely believe in signs. I bet he started to gain his weight back. That wouldn't surprise me the least. Good luck with your decision.

Lap Band removal for different reasons
juliegeraci replied to Bikinigoal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sure you could find a surgeon to remove it. The question is will you be running it through your insurance? If you are self pay you shouldn't have any problems. -
2 weeks post and I PB'd
juliegeraci replied to summerbushnell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Summer, don't worry about band slippage at this point. I would start on a mushy diet first for a week or 2 then add in solid protein like lean meats, chicken, etc. I really believe moving from liquids to solid foods is a mistake. Most doctors recommend 2 weeks of liquids minimum followed by 2 weeks of mushies then solids. Be careful because you are still mending. Good luck. -
Diane, I believe errosion is when the stomach grows around the band and into the stomach. The band can actually errode into the stomach. I believe that is what it is. It does require surgery to fix and typically they can't put in a new band until it heals. Hope this helps.

banded and no restrictions
juliegeraci replied to missypshep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Susan, how is your calorie intake. Are you sticking to 800-1k a day? A fill will definitely help. It took me 6 months to finally get the proper restriction so just keep going back until you have yours. Good luck. -
Cher, there are 2 types of tightness. Tightness to liquids and tightness to solids. If you are tight to liquids that is a very bad sign and you need an unfill. If you are tight to solids then move to a mushier diet to see if that works. Then if you are losing on a softer diet you need to make the decision on whether or not you want to stay there. If you really want to eat more solids it may take an unfill. Personally speaking, when I'm at 3.2 in my 4cc band I stay on a softer diet. I am going in after Xmas to go back to 3.2. I lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks there then came back down to 2.9. Hope this helps you.

I would definitely have another surgeon approve you for fills before you move. Maybe you could negotiate a little less for surgery based on no fills. My insurance doesn't cover fills and I have probably spend over $2k in 1 1/2 years.

banded and no restrictions
juliegeraci replied to missypshep's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Missy, you are doing great. It is really good you are starting to exercise. Just make sure you keep going back for fills until you reach your sweet spot. You will know when that is. Good luck. -
How did you get back on track?
juliegeraci replied to cnsdubie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First thing I do is make sure I have enough restriction. In my case I am going back in after Christmas for a fill. I am going to recommit myself and eat healthy and limit alcohol. Keep your eye on the prize and look at some "fat" pictures. You can do it! -
does anyone have feelings for their lapband doctor?
juliegeraci replied to mylapspirit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My lapband doctor is a totally hotty. My girlfriend who was banded always tells him "if you were single, etc, etc". He blushes. I always remember he already saw me naked! What a hunk I'll tell you. Smile -
I am so sorry to hear that! Truthfully that scared me too. My insurance covered the band but I don't know about removal. Good luck to you.

Unsupportive friend, fear of dying & leaving motherless child-how do I handle?
juliegeraci replied to kimmi5207's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kimmi, I have a 15 year old son too. He completely supported my surgery. It is so much fun now when he hangs out with his high school friends that tell me "wow, you have lost weight". Congrats on making the best decision for you! -
not taking my vitamins! Why do I hate taking care of myself????
juliegeraci replied to maryrose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mary, I take my medication first thing in the a.m. with my protein shake. Just get in the rhythm. As far as vitamins and water consumption I am really bad at that I must admit. I haven't lost any hair though so that is a good thing. Good luck. -
Am I crazy for doing this so soon?
juliegeraci replied to Away2me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are not crazy to want surgery that soon. I went in for my consult and had surgery about 8 weeks later. I knew this was right for me. Good luck! -
I gained 7 lbs in between fills one time. If you are at 800 calories a day you should be losing. Your fill will help a lot.

I'm fourteen-- am I eligible for the lap band?

The youngest patient my doctor has is 16 years old. -
Anyone pick up the book "Fighting the Weight"??
juliegeraci replied to AppleSmith1226's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Steph, I totally have food dreams. Isn't that crazy!

Finally ready!
juliegeraci replied to Shinyhappymommy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Melissa, it sounds like you are in a really good place right now. Congrats on making the committment to be banded. You will love it! Good luck. -
If I am correct, a slip can be mended by an unfill. Erosion is completely different. Do you know if he can give you a new band? I think sometimes they have to wait to have the stomach return to normal.

First Fill...and I can eat MORE!?!?!?!?
juliegeraci replied to NP1978's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, go back in for another fill. How long does your doctor make you wait in between fills? Mine makes you wait 2 weeks. FYI. It took me 5 fills and about 6 months before I felt real restriction. Good luck.
