I eat everything just less of it. If you are tight you may have some acid reflux and you may want to avoid spicy foods. Depends on your body though.

I agree with her. When you have good restriction you may only be able to enjoy 2-3 pieces. Because sashimi is so tender I can eat an entire sashimi meal with some rice. Very high in protein.

one month out and having some nausea

Nauseau can be very common following surgery. You may want to ask your doctor for an anti nauseau medication. -
Drinking with meals, avoiding alcohol and fast foods.

Longhorn, the RN that runs the Bariatrics program at the hospital told me that they use to have you stop before you eat. Now she said you can drink up until your meal. I do without a problem. Julie

8cc fill w/ a 10cc band...y am i still hungry???
juliegeraci replied to Karen85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Karen, if you can eat a cup of food and still lose you are considered lucky. For me, it is more like 1/2 cup of food. Typically I can eat 2-3oz at a time without a problem. Do you measure your protein? Is it more than 4 oz at a time. How is your weight loss and hunger? Julie -
Karey, it sure feels better eating solid foods. I am calling him on Wednesday to see if I can get .2 or .3 put back in. Thanks.

I am just curious if any of your surgeon have prescribed phentermine to you? If so, how have the results been.

Phentermine and the band
juliegeraci replied to juliegeraci's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Lachica, I lost 40 lbs preop so I am considered a slow loser at 65 lbs in 18 months. I am however proud of myself. My main motivator right now is that I am still categorized as obese. At 185 I would be considered overweight. 165 would be average. My doctor said most patients lose 62% on average so I am slightly above average now. My band has been giving me problems for months. Fills, unfills., etc. I am hoping I can take the 35 lbs off with weight watchers which I started today. Yes, I look really good in a size 18 at 5'9". I really wish I wasn't considered obese still! Phentermine and the band

Hi My Life Back, I made a decision that I need a slight fill for the hunger. If I can get the hunger to subside I will definitely stop taking it. Thanks! -
I love my magic bullet. You blend your protein shake in the same cup you drink it out of. It is really good for everything.

My addiction transfer is alcohol. My goal now is to not drink during the week and allow myself 2 drinks on Friday and Saturday. So far it is working.

Solid protein will keep you the fullest. I would go to solid protein right away. That should help. -
Andrea, it may help to get a fill too. You should be able to do that around 6 weeks. Remove the sweets from the house and really try to stick to the program. Soon you will lose. It just takes time.

one month out, first fill, can still eat!
juliegeraci replied to hastalabyebye's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kayla, it took me 5 fills and about 6 months to reach peak restriction. Chances are it will take you a minimum of 3-5 fills to get there. Try and limit yourself using willpower and go in for another fill as soon as you can. Also, are you on solids yet? It sound like you are on mushies. When you get to the solid phase you will probably eat a little less. Especially if you eat your solid protein first . It should keep you from getting as hungry. Hope this helps. Julie -
Tanya, are you counting your caloric intake?

Good for you! It is important to stay patient when the weight loss starts. It can take some time. -
Phentermine and the band
juliegeraci replied to juliegeraci's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Girls, let me give you an update. So far the phentermine is not working as my appetite is bigger than ever. I am going to go back in for a slight tweak next week to see if that will help. I weighed in at Weight Watchers today and I need to lose 35 lbs to goal. -
Weight Watchers - any success?
juliegeraci replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I joined today and I have 35 lbs to lose. I am hoping to do that in the next 6 months if not sooner. Wish me luck. -
Hi Tina, mine is on my left hand side just under the waist line. No I can't see it. The only time I can feel it is when I lay down and really try to find it. I have a low profile port if that matters. He has not trouble finding it when I need a fill.

Has your significant other lost weight with you?
juliegeraci replied to NukeChik's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My husband has definitely not lost weight with me. -
Yes. I have lost 100 lbs and am currently 40 lbs from goal. My goal is 185. My real goal should be 165 but I am really scared of that number because it is so difficult to maintain. So yes, I am scared of getting too thin because I usually rebound. Does that make sense?

Ditto, after the incisions heal yes you can take a bath, enjoy a hot tub, etc. The port is placed under the muscle. Julie
