Did The Op Without A Nutritionist, help

First off you should ask them what your post op diet should be. Most surgeons keep you on liquids a minimum of 1 week, 2 more likely. Then you can move to the full liquid stage like creamy soups., then a week or 2 later you need to move to mushies or soft fooods ie. chili, tuna salad, potatoe. Then it is onto solids. When you go to solids you need to eat 60 grams of protein. Chicken, fish, eggs, yoguart, milk, beef those types of foods. At this point you may see a slight weight gain becuase your calorie intake will be more. Try and stick to 800-1k calories a day. You most likely will experience more hunger and no restriction during this time. Once that starts along with slowed down weight loss it will be time for a fill. It may take several fills until you feel less hungry and satisfied. Good luck.

    Not losing on Weight Watchers

I looked back on my food logs and it looks like I may be consume too many carbs and alcohol. They say you can drink 1 drink a day. I did use quite a few points on my 2point rum and crystal light drinks. I am going to bump up the protein and omitt the alcohol. I probabably will try core this coming week and make sure I eat a ton of protein. Also, I need to start exercising more and more water. My fill is really good from yesterday so I am not as hungry today. Before my fill it took me 1 package oatmeal 2 pts, 1 banana 2 pts, 1 egg 2 pts and 1 whole wheat toast with butter 3 points just to get through noon yesterday. Today I had a protein shake at 8:30 followed by a latte at 10am and so far the hunger is at bay. Wish me luck. I did WW quite a few years ago and did really well on it. Truthfully I would be happy with my 1-2 lbs a week again. That was my average with the band when I was losing. Thanks for the support! Julie

Why so many fills to make the band work?

My fills have been a bloody nightmare. I thought I hit my sweet spot at 6 months and 5 fills but I was wrong. I have had between 12-15 fills and unfills trying to find that right place the past 18 months. I have pretty much maintained my weight for a few months now. I just had another fill of .3 up from 2.5 yesterday. It seems I can get in the 2-3 oz again which I am happy about. Needless to say, my insurance does not cover fills so its been pretty costly. Julie

    Not losing on Weight Watchers

Hi girls, I don't have too many carbs in my diet. I think I am going to try core this week. My protein shake only counts as 2 points a day that way since skim milk is free. I know I need to continue to take alcohol out of my diet. I did drink quite a few points on NY eve.

Got unfill now I am starving!

I went back to 2.8 today and it is just perfect. I ate like a bird at lunch and have no hunger! I am thrilled!
  8. I use the GNC soy based product. I think it has between 25 and 30 grams of protein with 1 cup of skim milk.

    swallowing pregnancy pills

If they go through the stoma you are okay to take them whole otherwise you should cut in 1/2.

    When do you know...?

My sweet spot is when I can only eat a few bites and be full. Also, it is when I don't have hunger.

    Last slice for the Pizzaman

Congrats on starting your preop diet. Hope your surgery goes smooth.
  12. My band holds 4ccs. It took me 5 fills and about 2.5 to get to my sweet spot. That being said, I have had 12 fills and unfills over the course of the last 18 months. It has been a true roller coaster and very expensive. Its really hard to find that spot. Especially when you lose weight. you have to find it over and over again. Good luck.

    waking up after surgery

The only pain I experienced was from the tube. I had a terrible sore throat and they had to spray my throat with a numbing agent so I could swallow.

    Any regrets about getting banded?

The most difficult part for me has been to find my sweet spot. Sometimes if I have less restriction I am starving. Then if I am too tight I PB. So there is a necessary balance between the 2 of these. That is the hard part.

Great NSV. Totally cool that you can fit the average towel now!
  20. My relationship with food has completely changed. Because I can't consume as much I choose very wise food choices now. I no longer want junk because I need to keep my energy high with good lean proteins and good nutrition. Hopefully that will be the same for you too. Good luck.
  21. Hi Justin, hope you are doing okay post op. I get full on 1-2 oz now. It is just the feeling of being full and satisfied. Good luck.

How much do you drink in in a sip?

Hi Justin, wow you have had a doozy of a day haven't you. I would take 2 gulps at a time and let it go through the band. How are you feeling? Any better?
