    Am I normal??

What you are experiencing is very common. The band can be very fickle. Sometimes it only takes .1 ccs to make a difference. If you feel like you are eating too much I would go back in for a slight tweak. Most bandsters eat between 1/2 cup and 1 cup of food, 1 cup being too much at times. Good luck trying to find your sweet spot. It took me forever and I still struggle with it 19 months out. Julie

I start me 3 month Chantax tomorrow. Wish me luck! I've been a smoker for a out 4 years now habitually. I have smoked periodically for 24 years. I am excited about quitting. Anyone else out there?

    Big decision to make....Help!!

I would go with experience. Also, please make sure you have a follow up doctor for your aftercare. Some doctors will not take Mexico patients.

    Ferocious Hunger!

Hi Heather, it sounds like you are eating correctly. Just make sure you get a ton of protein to keep you fullest the longest. Your hunger will go away once you start to get fills. Good luck.

Please put me straight on my diet...

Lower your carb intake and up your protein. Also, try and limit your alcohol consumption.

    My First PB

Take it really slow and take small bites. Definitely don't chug your water either. Good luck.

    Anyone Had This Problem?

Acid reflux is very common to bandsters. Typically the only way to combat it at nighttime like you are describing is medication first then a slight unfill. My friend just went through the same thing and it took her 2 or 3 fills and slight unfills to find the spot where she didn't have it at all. Like you the symptoms were the same. Good luck.

    Confused....

Hi there. Typically the band is not filled during surgery. Most surgeons make you wait about 6 weeks before they start giving you fills. Initially after surgery you may not be hungry. The hunger however may return. Fills do help with the hunger. Typically it takes 3-5 fills to get to your sweet spot. Good luck.

    I am quitting smoking

I take the Chantix for 3 months. I am starting my 2nd month right now. I smoked 1/2 to 1 pack a day before. It does work but you have to keep taking it.

    I am quitting smoking

I've been smoke free for about 3 weeks now with the exception of trying a smoke once or twice with no success. The Chantix is a miracle drug!

    getting ready

I am really happy that I had lapband surgery. I was banded at 282 and I'm currently 220. I am a slow loser. I have 35 more to go. I don't regret it at all. I love not being as hungry and I eat far more healthy now. A lot more protein. Good luck.
  19. What you are experiencing is normal. I once gained 7 lbs in between fills. You will be okay after you get some restriction in a few weeks. Typically 6 weeks after surgery you can get a fill. Good luck.
  20. When you don't have as much to lose the weight typically comes off really slow. 1-2 lbs a week average is quite normal. You asked how people can still consume a lot? That is because the bands are not filled to the right restriction level first. It takes about 6 weeks to begin to get fills. Yes, I too didn't think the band would work. I lost about 40 lbs on my own before being banded. My doctor says that I am a success because I lost 65% of my excess weight. 60% is the norm. So don't get discouraged if it takes some time. Good luck.

    AA support

Yeah, I know my weight loss hasn't been as much as I would have liked for over 18 months but it is because of all those empty calories. Sometimes I have 2 drinks and other times when I have tequila I'll have a few shots and a couple drinks too. I really do try and only drink 2 drinks but it is difficult to stop. Not sure exactly what I am going to do.

    AA support

I was sober 16 months and had a relapse about 2 years ago. I really try and control my consumption but it is difficult.

Fisrt fill tomorrow - big question...

My doctor says 2 hours before.
  24. juliegeraci

    Caffeine?

Yes as long as it doesn't bug your stomach. I drink it daily.

    Anyone From The BaY???

the band itself will not restrict the amount of food you eat. you have a port that allows the doctor to put saline in the tube so it tightens and gives you restriction.
