I wear a sweatshirt everyday and a blanket on my legs when I'm working. I also sleep in very warm PJs.

That is great news. Congrats.

Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
juliegeraci replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Top weight 320, 35 lbs from goal at 220. Banded June 06. I lost 40 lbs preop. -
First off, can you find another surgeon to do your fills? Second, weight watchers does work. I'm on WW and have lost at least 2 lbs this week. I have to eat no more than 20 points or 1k calories to lose but you can do it. My fill level is perfect though. Make sure you have enough restriction before you start. Is it worth a 3 hour drive?

Just had 1st fill, how soon until the next one?
juliegeraci replied to AudricIan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
First, off make sure you are getting enough nutrition. 2 times a day would make you starving. also, protein in the a.m. may help you. With that being said, my doctor makes you wait 2 weeks before he'll do another fill. Good luck. -
JLM. Let me tell you what my surgeon said. He said the stats at 3 years are 62% of your excess weight for both the lapband and bypass. These are studies that are given to the surgeons at their conferences. While bipass initially is 90%, come year 3 it is the same as lapband. That being said, the bipass weight loss is a lot faster. If you eat 800-1k calories a day as a bandster and work your tail off you can lose a lot fast. I've seen some people lose 100 fairly quickly. But I know they work out a lot. Congrats on your decision. I am very happy with mine.

Sashimi is really good for you, very high in protein. If your doctor wants you on high protein, low carb I would go for that as an alternative.

Leena, what you are describing is normal given extreme weight loss. They can actually do lipo on your privates in that area if it still remains huge there. I like you have the deflated loaf although I am still 30 lbs from goal. I'm sure it will be worse once I lose the rest of my weight. I do plan on having a tummy tuck at the very least. You are doing gret with your weight loss. Keep up the good work.

Will we ever be happy? ( compression garments)
juliegeraci replied to Vegaswildflower's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I totally understand! I need lipo on my sides and a full tummy tuck big time. I am waiting until I lose 30 more lbs. -
Will we ever be happy? ( compression garments)
juliegeraci replied to Vegaswildflower's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can totally relate. I'm in an 18 headed to 16 right now . When I button my jeans I have that roll just above the beltline. I did find the spanx while helping the hip area still give me the roll at the middle. Not exactly sure what to tell you other than enjoy the ride! -
Personally speaking I would indulge. There will be plenty of time when 2 bites of sushi fill you up and 1 glass of wine gets you buzzed. Being banded will be your new way of life for the rest of your life. 2 nights will not kill you. Have fun! I would.

If you are 5'2" I would stick to the C cup.

Will UHC Cover Cosmetic Procedures
juliegeraci replied to RoseCity Girl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Mine doesnt' cover it unless you are in a tragic accident and need reconstructive surgery. -
I think I answered this on another thread but yes I follow WW and am doing quite well. I am suppose to eat 27 points a day plus 35 extra per week. That came to be too much. Since then, I am consuming 20 points a day plus the 35 and seem to be really losing now. 1 point is about 50 calories. So that would put me at 1k - 1200 a day depending on if I eat the extra points. You just have to see what works for you. Most bandsters eat 800-1k calories a day. No more than 1200.

Typically my carbs are carbs like fruit or oatmeal. I only eat bread a couple times a week, 1 slice. Protein is what I eat most of.

I can eat spicy foods as long as I'm not too tight and don't have acid reflux. Otherwise it really burns.

extremely tight - months after fill
juliegeraci replied to loridee11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The same thing happened to me and my doctor described it like this: Sometimes the band will automatically tighten due to the stomach lining thickening around the band. For that reason, I had to take out at least .3 to be able to hold down solids again. I would go for a slight unfill. -
Hi Teal, I've been banded for about 19 months now. I would go in for a slight unfill. Sometimes just taking out .2 or .3 out will help. Make sure you sip water before you leave the surgeoin's office. Start with liquids first then mushies then solids. Good luck.

phlegm/stomach pain?
juliegeraci replied to stratgazer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds more like acid reflux issues. I would talk to your doctor about it. You may need an anti acid as well as a slight unfill. This is quite common with the band. -
First Week Post OP Food

GNC protein powder to mix with non fat milk, jellow, creamy soups, popsicles. -
I gained 1.5 pounds on MUSHIES!
juliegeraci replied to SuzanneG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you are experiencing is completely normal given the fact that you are off liquids. I would just make sure you aren't consuming more than 800-1k calories, no more than 1200 a day. When you get good restriction after your fills the 4 oz will be cut in half. Everything will change when you get good restriction. Good luck. -

Have to wait 2 months after surgery to discuss fill
juliegeraci replied to TripletMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you are describing is right on key to what bandsters go through so you are not alone. My doctor does fills on week #6. Typically I would go back in every 4 weeks although when I got closer to my sweet spot I think I went in 2 weeks later for a fill. Good luck. You are healing now so just take it slow. -
That is fantastic news! Good luck with your lapband succress so you're a skinny bride!

I'm not having the band anymore but I found something else
juliegeraci replied to milton5a's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lauren, congrats on finding something that you enjoy. The band is always an option .
