I would ask him how many lapbands he has performed first. I would ask him about the band, how it is places, restriction, fills and maintenance.

HELP! New problems with throwing up
juliegeraci replied to 2bslimsherri's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
the first thing you should do is go back on liquids, then mushies, then solids. That will be the tell tail on whether or not you are too tight. You probably are swollen from the PBing so I would take it easy the next few days. And yes, sometimes fills do take a few days to kick in. Good luck. -
The only thing I have heard of is them finding something with the heart and having to work with the cardiologist to get clearance. Other than that, I haven't heard anything.
-
Hi Will, trust me I know how you feel. It is really hard trying to find the right balance between restriction, PBing, not being hungry, etc. I am 19 months out and I still battle with fills, unfills, not enough restriction, too much, etc. The band can be really fickle. Good luck.

I would find another surgeon. I can't believe she didn't even visit you. My surgeon would have totally done that.

If you are a. eating too much b. not losing and c. hungry then you need a fill.

Anyone wish they had chosen bypass??
juliegeraci replied to xokimberlyxo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor only does banding and bypass lapascopically. I would find a surgeon that does both that way. That being said, the stats are around 60% weight loss of the band and 90% bypass the first year. At year 3 the stats are the same at 60% due to bypass patients stretching their pouch. You also have to think about malabsorption with the bypass. My doctor told me during my last fill that there are a lot of foods you cannot tolerate a lot of foods. Good luck. -
Cruise Trip What to Eat
juliegeraci replied to FLMan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try and keep your diet high in protein. Make sure you take very small bites, chew well and eat very slowly. That will help if you PB. Have fun! -
I m afraid I hurt?
juliegeraci replied to Anuemorning's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chances are it is just a strain but in either case I would check with your surgeon. I've done that before too. -
The youngest patient my surgeon has done was 16. You are not too young. Good luck.

Lap-Band and Weight Watchers
juliegeraci replied to Penelope's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My only feedback is that I had to go down to 20 points a day to lose. -
If you can eat all that you need a fill.

Holy crap, I feel sick. What can I do?
juliegeraci replied to SuzanneG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mint and ginger help nauseau. -
should i get my second fill?
juliegeraci replied to andielmt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should go for a fill when a. you are hungry b. you aren't losing or c. you are eating too much. Typically 1/2 cup is good. Good luck. -
You can have anything that fits through a straw per my surgeon. That being said, watered down with milk you should be fine.

Marijuana Use After Surgery
juliegeraci replied to KBates's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may want to go to your Doctor and ask for Chantix. Its a 3 month plan to help you quit. It really works and the nicotine sensors work so you dont like the taste, etc. anymore. Good luck. -
Marijuana Use After Surgery
juliegeraci replied to KBates's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, they don't test for marijuana. They typically test for liver count and things like that. -
Paulax, that is fabulous! I am 35 lbs away from goal and its really difficult. I go back in on Wednesday for a fill. I too am going to ask for 3.2. Good job reaching your goal!
-
I went from 3.0 to 2.5 ccs because I couldn't eat solids. I at solids all day long yesterday and had a little bit of nauseau. Typically I can consume maybe 1-2 oz at a time. Yesterday I was able to consum 3 oz at least at a time which gave me a stomach ache. Today I woke up starving. I am wondering if I need to go back up to 2.7 or 2.8.
-
No, not unless I am too tight.
-
I hear ya. You are well on your way. Good luck!

Uh-oh I went and did something CRAZY...
juliegeraci replied to jlobyxmas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went through the exact same feelings and broke down crying the day before my surgery. What you are experiencing is quite common. Forgive yourself and just know that you have tried everything in your power to lose weight and keep it off. Good luck on your journey. -
Mandjo, I'm confused. Did you just get the heartburn after your last fill? If so it may mean that you are too tight. I would try some prilosec (spelling) better yet Zantac is much better. If that doesn't work you will need a slight unfill. Good luck.

Dr Phil on right now talking about bariatric surgeries
juliegeraci replied to bling's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I watched part of that yesterday . I felt really bad for the huge guy he put on a supervised diet of delivered foods. Doesn't Dr. Phil understand the probability of him regaining the weight without surgical intervention is highly possible!
