Yes, I had the same problem. It was because I was afraid to eat solids. Once I moved to more solids I was okay and could go more like 3-4 hours. I totally was where you are at. Starving 1-2 hours later. Also, I did have a slight fill of .3 put in so now I am not as hungry. If you move to solids and still feel hungry in 2 hours then you may want another fill. Good luck.

is anyone so tight they can't drink in the morning?
juliegeraci replied to Yvonne's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You should be able to eat solids and keep them down. My doctor said if that you PB more than once every two weeks you are too tight. In my case, I can only eat 3-4 bites or 1 oz at a time several times a day. Good luck. -
I can't tell if I am full or not?
juliegeraci replied to Livingthe Dream's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can only eat a few bites and I am full. Restriction is different for different people. In my case, to lose I need to eat very little. If you can eat an entire meal of 1 cup, in my opinion that is too much. I would try to consume no more than 1/2 cup of food. Good luck. -
There are 2 types of tightness. Tightness to liquids and tightness to solids. If you are tight to solids then you need a slight unfill, maybe only .1 or .2ccs. If you are losing on soft foods it will then be your decision when or not to get an unfill. In my case, I can eat solids. Just not much of them. 3-4 bites and I'm full. Good luck. Hang in there.

My surgeon makes you wait 2 weeks in between fills. 6 weeks sounds like a long time. I would call and ask.

Sometimes the bands can go over like 1cc or so. I would go in for another fill if you aren't losing. Do you eat 800-1k a day? How much do you eat at once? 1/2 cup, 1 cup, etc.

NOT Losing Weight anymore and Trying sooo hard
juliegeraci replied to happy2be's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It depends what is happening. How many calories a day are you taking in? Bandsters eat 800-1k sometimes up to 1200. How much volumne do you eat? 1/4 cup, 1 cup, etc. -
Conversations you hear sitting in your doc's waiting room
juliegeraci replied to BRANDYK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow, that would be quite discouraging. I think you did the right thing by not saying anything. We all have our own journey in this lapband world. Its just too bad when you make a drastic decision you can't change your attitude or behavior. Keep the faith. -
Surgeon fees vs. hospital fees
juliegeraci replied to Shinyhappymommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine is $15k and only $5k are the surgeons. The rest if for the hospital, etc. -
Tracking calories: Weight Watchers or Daily Plate?
juliegeraci replied to dimarec's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WW only works for me when I do 20 points a day. That equals 1k calories. -
You are probably okay. Do they do the fills under fluoro? That may be the only way they know you have overeaten. Unless the scale says so. Go on liquids for a couple days, then mushies if you are sore. Good luck.

When you feel you have no control over food and am willing to exercise and eat right again then you are right for lapband. You do have quite a bit to lose so I would agree this is the right decision for you. Good luck. I love my band.

Questions for my surgeon... pre-op. What did you ask or wish you had?
juliegeraci replied to janedavis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I knew more about how to get good restriction early on including fills. It has taken me forever to get the right restriction. Because of that I have maintained for probably 6 months. I just got another fill last week and I do have better restriction so we'll see if the weight loss starts again. Good luck. -
Just banded 1/17 & eating too much
juliegeraci replied to Jeni's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jeni, be good to yourself. Restriction will take some time to get there. Just try to stick to either 800-1k calories a day, or 1 cup per meal. Good luck. -
Just Got Approved!!
juliegeraci replied to destynee990's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've always lost consistanly 1-2 lbs per week. That being said, it took me a few months to really see the difference. -
Do you miss eating?
juliegeraci replied to sadie11's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I miss eating big Subway sandwiches the most! -
Today: 5 months of banding. See my pics

You look great. Keep up the good work. -
The band placement itself is only $5k. Its the other expenses incurred that bring it to $15k.

My pills go down fine too. They say that the size of an M&M is perfect. That is the biggest pill I take.

Christ! Of course, lean protein is the best for you. Yes, you can eat shit all day. This post was intended for a smart bandster not a stupid one.
-
Cindy, that is quite common with good restriction. The only work around is an antacid or a slight unfill. In my case, the unfill was the only thing that worked. Good luck.
-
I can only tell you my story. I can eat 1/3 to 1/2 cup of food. I have no hunger and am losing. If you a. are eating too much b. are hungry more often and c. not losing you should get a fill. Good luck.
-
The first thing that rings a bell is that you may not have enough solid proteins. Cottage cheese is a mushy. Try to move to more solids first. If you are still hungry in 2 hours you may want a slight fill. 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup sounds right though. Good luck.
-
That sounds about right. I remember it took me 5 fills and 6 months to reach good restriction.
