1500 sounds like way too much to me. If you can lose on 1200 that is great. If you are comfortable at 2-3 lbs per month on 1200 then stay there. It is very typical for a bandster to only eat 1k a day. My doctor says 800-1k a day is more typical. You can get there with good restriction easily. How much at one time can you eat? 1 cup, 1/2 cup?

I agree with Juli . I would start out walking then move onto more strenious exercise once you get your clearance at 6 weeks. Good luck.
-
Keep in mind that the average bandster eats 800-1k calories a day. You may want to play with your caloric intake a bit and see if you add or subtract that will help. 2-3 lbs per month is quite average so don't be ashamed. If you need a fill I would definitely get one. Good luck and great job on the exercise. Wish I was doing as well as you!

My first fill coming in 3 days...words of wisdom/advice?
juliegeraci replied to deneicy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor suggests liquids for 24, mushies for 24, then solids. The only advice I can give you is don't be surprised if you don't feel better restriction. Generally speaking it takes several fills to reach optimal restriction so be patient. Good luck. -
The most pain is at the port site. I would think with the help of your mom for a couple weeks you should be okay. Congrats on your decision. The surgery was a breeze for me.

I am rejoining on Saturday. I found that I need to keep my points to 20 points a day in order to lose. That is about 1k calories. Good luck.

I started at 320 and lost 40 lbs preop to put me at 282. I am now down to about 218 with 35 more lbs to go. I will be happy at 185. I am 5'8" tall. Good luck.

How exciting. I am 35 lbs from goal and can't wait to have mine . You are going to look great! -
There are 3 things you can do. First, take an antacid like prilosec or zantac. Second, don't eat late at night. Stay away from foods many hours before bed. Third, is an unfill. It is very common to get acid reflux if you are a bit too tight. How much did they put in when you went in for a fill? When I had acid reflux .3ccs out did the trick. Good luck.

The only reason they say 6 months is the calorie intake. That being said, alcohol will be okay. Try to stay away from carbonation though. Also, keep in mind you are not eating as much. You may find that you get buzzed more quickly. Good luck.

Height and weight before surgery??
juliegeraci replied to jacobsmomma02's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi There. I am 5'8 and I was banded at 282. My goal weight is 185. They say that I should be 160-165 to be average but my doctor said 185 is good. 145 seems a little low. Isn't it hard to maintain? -
What you are experiencing is quite normal. My doctor said it is typical to lose 60-65% of tour excess weight and then it just stops. I've been 35 lbs from goal for quite a few months now. It is really difficult to loss 19 months in. We are all in the same boat.

Hi Paulax, I've been stuck at the same weight for a while now. Part of the problem is that I've been eating around the band. When I don't get enough in, I drink with meals. So now I am just trying to get back on track. Wow, these last 35 are quite difficult!
-
Thanks Travelgirl. I am upping my water intake today and I'm going to have a protein shake before bed tonight. Wow, restriction is amazing!
-
Hi Travelgirl, I'm on medication yes but nothing is new. The last medication I started was 7 weeks ago. You would think the reaction would have been sooner if that is the case? The other medications have been for years. I really think it is blood sugar levels.
-
Stacy, you are doing fabulous. Keep up the good work.
-
I agree with the Doctor. You can also have some problems with your esophogus if you don't get it taken care of. Good luck.

I didn't quit, but then again my Doctor didn't mention it. I am now on Chantix and am trying to quit.

I need support. I love my husband and we are working things out first of all. He is aware of my affair. My lover lives in NYC and I live in CA. I have known him for over 4 years now. Our affair started about 3 years ago and since then we have remained friends. That is the problem. I know my husband should be my best friend that is why its been so difficult. I haven't spoken to the other man in over a week now. I don't want to have contact anymore but it is very painful for me because we were so close. I would call it an emotional affair as we haven't been intimate for 2 years now. How long did it take you to get completely over your affair? Why is it so difficult?
-
I want to stay married so that is why I decided no contact with my affair. It really nice because he lives in NYC and I'm in CA so no contact is a little easier. Right now I am in a support group and I am going one day at a time. My affair didn't mind me fat nor did my husband. Funny.

Its quite common to eat 5 small meals a day especially since you can't fit so much in the pouch.

Need Fill Doctor in Los Gatos California
juliegeraci replied to lucyxyz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr. Robert McKeen at South Bay Bariatrics takes Mexico patients. He is wonderful. He works out of Good Sam so it might be him that you saw already. 408-402-9911 -
You have to eat really really slowly and small bites with the band or you will vomit. PB

Crating is the only way to train your dog. I would invest in a nice size crate and start with that. Good luck.

2nd fill ~ Too Tight ~ Less than 24 hours.
juliegeraci replied to want2beme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is a very drastic fill. My doctor has never given me more than .5 or 1cc at a time. Truthfully I think you need a slight unfill. Good luck.
