    Need Help Badly

Vicky, quite simply if you are eating like your old self and are gaining weight you need a fill. Keep going back until you can only eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food. You are certain to lose at that rate. Good luck.

    Surgery In 5 Days!!

I couldn't believe I actually went through with it. I cried big time the day of my surgery for a variety of reasons ie. how did I get here, how can I be so big, etc. These are natural emotions. You will love your band. Just give it some time. Good luck on the 15th!

    Getting approval

If you are self pay it typically goes a lot faster. I think you still have to have the regular blood work, EKG, nutritionst and psych eval though. Mine took about 10-12 weeks with insurance. I would think it would be more like a month without.

    slipped band....

You are okay. Typically bands slip when they are too tight and you PB a lot. You can't hold down food. The bloating is very normal given the fact that you ate bread. Bread can be hard to digest. Good luck.

I dont know what to do or what is wrong...

lillysmom, what you are experiencing is natural. The first thing you need to do is slow down your eating. If you rush your eating you are more likely to PB because you can't feel the full sensation. I would start with that first before anything else. Keep your eye on the prize. The banded life is great but you have to give it time and effort. Good luck.

total failure, can I start over?

Mermaidpuppy, there is hope for you woman. The first thing I would do is go get yourself a good fill. 4.5 is not a lot in a 10cc band. The second thing I would do is to give up your Soda. Try and drink water or crystal light. The third thing I would do is try and give up sugar. Try a natural sugar like yogurt or fruit. Don't do all these things are once as it may make you feel ill. Giving up sugar can be very difficult so go at it slowly. You may also want to do some sugar free puddings and ice cream to help you. Don't be hard on yourself. We have all had some things happen to us during this journey. Restriction is key so keep going for fills until you can only eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food. Good luck. PS. I drink with meals too so that one is hard for me.

    PlaSTIC

Not sure if I need that or not. I asked him the other day what exactly he thought I needed in addition to the tummy tuck and he said some lipo on my chin. Now this gets me wondering.
  9. Girlfriend, obesity is a disease. Get with a good PCP and get the band.

    Annoyed!!!

Shannon, keep your eye on the prize. It is so worth it.
  11. I would keep it small and simple. The least amount of people is the best.

    PlaSTIC

I'm a bit confused. I'm having an extended tummy tuck. What is a mon lift? Should I be getting one?
  15. Steph, I have a confession to make. I don't feel like I have good restriction unless I can stop and PB. That doesn;t mean I throw up on a daily basis or anything like that. I just means that I don;t feek like I can stop eating until I have the PB sensation. I know that is an unhealthy way to look at things but its the only way I can lose weight. I lose about 1 lb per week. That being said, the last few days I have been able to consume about 1 to 1 1/2 cup of food now. I like the idea of counting my calories. If I can stay to the recommended 1200 I should be fine. Thanks for the input. Julie

    Question about pills?

I have good restriction and have no problem with any of my pills. My biggest pill is the size of an M&M.

    Scared

The secret truly is to eat very slow and pieces the size of a pencil eraser. You can tell when you get full with PBing. That is the best advice I can give you.

    Job-related problem.

I would do it provided that you can handle the crazy schedule. Good luck saving for your PS. Julie

    apology re: $700 fill

Lori, so glad your fills aren't that expensive. Good job.
  20. Thanks for the post. I am down to a 42B right now so I totally understand. Not sure if I'll have a breast lift with augmentation next year or not. I need to raise the $10k that it costs.

    Finally Approved!

Your surgeon may put you on a 3 day liquid diet or maybe nothing. Mine didn't make me do a preop diet.

    Antidepressants and lapband

I've been banded nearly 2 years and I still take my antidepressents.
  23. Sorry to hear about this. I am so glad you were able to find this out though.
  24. I've never heard of that before.
  25. Hi Laura, you may want to post this under lapband fills section to get more response.
