6 weeks post op have a ?
juliegeraci replied to p3photogal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you have some swelling. You did the right thing by sticking to liquids. I would move back to a soft diet and go from there. -
This happened to me too. My doctor said that sometimes the stomach lining thickens and it gives you more restriction. I would start with a slight unfill of .3 and go from there. Good luck.

Help! I don't know what to do!!!!
juliegeraci replied to Kate228's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am really glad you delayed your surgery. There was another horror story on here where the insurance company actually denied the claim and it was approved as well. I am glad you are following up. Good luck tomorrow. -
I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for posting this information.
-
Congrats on your consult. I'll send my postive vibes your way to see if insurance will cover. Good luck.

My insurance turned me down for my pannicolectomy
juliegeraci replied to BeckyinTexas's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi Becky, my insurance didn't cover it either. I had to pay $11k out of pocket. I hope you can win an appeal. I definitely didn't lose 300 lbs. Way to go on the weight loss! -
When do you start the PS process???
juliegeraci replied to mrskrzyz's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I met with my PS 20 lbs from goal. That being said I never aimed to the perfect BMI. I would have had to lose another 35 lbs. I am pleased with the outcome however I will need to go back in 6 months and have more abdominal fat removed because he couldn't get it all. So the closer to goal you are the better the outcome. Congrats on your weight loss to date. -
My thigh/calf lift experience
juliegeraci replied to quakergirl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
You have really been through a lot. God Bless. I had a thigh lift but mine was around the top of the thigh. Not as much pain. -
Reflux is a sign of being too tight. The only remody is an unfill or medication.
-
My doctor recommends a fill 2 weeks apart. You are ready.
-
I would post this under cosmetic surgery. You'll get a lot more of a response there. I had a tummy tuck for $11600 and a thigh lift for $8500.
-
You handled that very well. Pizza is really hard to get down. Next time try and just eat some protein with the salad.
-
Mine are $200 each.
-
Sashimi is raw fish. The maguro (tuna) and hamachi (yellow tail) is really good. It is very high in protein and keeps you full longer. I have that with a cup of rice and its perfect.

Were you informed about PS before you were banded?
juliegeraci replied to Dr. Schulman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I knew with over 100 lbs to lose I most likely would need a tummy tuck. That being said I had one 20 lbs from goal. I am now 10 lbs from goal and my stomach looks really good. It is definitely an added expense but worth it. -
You have to ask your surgeon. My surgeon has a policy of 7 days I believe. If you are too tight its only $25 or so just for the needle.
-
Popcorn goes down just like sand. You shouldn't have a problem with it.
-
With good restriction you probably will not be able to get down more than a couple pieces. I have now gone to sashimi and feel really good. I can eat the entire order of sashimi because its a soft food and very high in protein.

Can I drive the next day do you think?
juliegeraci replied to stef123633's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think 1 day post op is a little agressive. I would have my husband drive me. Congrats on your surgery. -
lab band/or gastric bypas
juliegeraci replied to scanj05's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crystal, the lapband success at year 1 is 60% of your excess weight. Gastic bypass is 80%. With that being said, at year 3 they are the same. With gastric bypass there is typically about a 20% gain. It will take you a while to lose 140 lbs but it will be worth it. I never really considered gastic bypass. It is way too dangerous. Good luck with your decision. -
I'm very nervous - surgery is tomorrow!
juliegeraci replied to EricaLyn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Erica, everything will be okay. Just take it easy the next week or so. Good luck tomorrow. -
So my doctor just recommended lap-band surgery for me
juliegeraci replied to Ellen86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI Ellen, I've been banded 2 years. The nice thing about the band is you can eat everything, just less of it. Good luck with your journey. -
Onederland and a pair of size 14 jeans!!!
juliegeraci replied to Erink's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Erin, that is fantastic news. I am about 13 lbs from onederland too. I'm in a size 16 in some sizes and 18s in others. My goal is size 16 in jeans. Good job! -
That sucks. Glad you are okay though. Good that the car is newer. I would just get it repaired. Hope you can get a rental car to keep up with those jobs!

I have both and we use the hot tub a lot more. A hot tub is way less expensive to run year round. Go for the hot tub.
